No offense, I think people are being way too forgiving of the Fallout show as a consequence of other media being way worse in comparison. I am only on the first episode and you already have a "badass" pregnant woman doing plumbing work and later shooting guns with a fork in her eye, the main girl shows she's great at most things, the Frozen trope where marriage is for naive girls to get tricked by evil men, a white dude literally punching a black dude to keep him out of his nuclear shelter, another evil white dude who literally stabs the main girl with a massive knife and yet she still fights him off, a bunch of other beta men, an unrealistically diverse cast with muscle raiders submitting to a scrawny minority woman, a gender confused member of The Brotherhood of Steel, etc.
It's not the worst, but it's definitely very predictable due to the pressure to fill up a woke checklist. I don't want to come off as overly negative, but at the same time the "it could be worse/this is fine" attitude means bashing masculinity, traditional hetero relations, and whiteness is just continuing to be normalized. It's only going to take another generation and people won't even remember a time where you could enjoy a piece of entertainment without it constantly reminding the viewer of the "correct" identity politics.
I'm latino by the way, I just get tired of the constant subtle and overt messaging that spills into reality where I regularly have people encouraging me to hate whites and conservatives for ridiculous reasons.
Where those chapters at?
@@maskedbadass6802people like the show because they don’t read a moral panic into it like you do
@@rheacevert Perhaps that makes sense in a vacuum, but the same messaging is literally everywhere all the time. It's hard to ignore when the same people acting like it's not a big deal don't seem to feel the same way when those same messages are directed to pretty much anyone except white people. The "Why do you care?" indifference conveniently only seems to ever go in one direction often without recognizing that these types of decisions aren't made unless someone specifically thinks they are necessary due to their own sense of morality policing.

Hey Skillup! Thanks for shouting out Steamworld Heist 2! I’ve been a fan of the channel for years and also happen to be the Art Director for SWH2. It means a lot to me to see it featured here. You’re beautiful, keep up the good work ❤
Original Steamworld was so fun and I'm really looking forward to this!
If Fallout 76 had "always been good", we wouldn't have gotten the golden years of Laymen Gaming/Lamon Gamon.
RIP LG
Embracer did the split purely so they could load Asmodee with the all the debt they had acquired (all 900m of it!) as it was the only unit that could refinance the debt. Basically they've protected the game development units, at potentially the expense of Asmodee.
Pure nonsense, as the debt and Asmodee as a company are owned by the same shareholders regardless of where the debt is held and Asmodee held more debt when Embracer bought it and moved the debt into Embracer. No one with any kind of business sense finances a gigantic physical game stock ($700m) with equity. That would be stupid and value destructive.

The fact Embracer sold Gearbox is insane
Unless you have a brain and understand that they've massively over-extended. They NEED money and honestly gearbox isn't making much any time soon.
?? No it's not lol, they're a completely fucked sinking ship, gearbox needed to get working on borderlands 4, so they jumped ship
True. Who the hell would buy Gearbox?
@@GigglingStoners since they did own 3D Realms, it made sense to own Gearbox for I guess the Duke Nukem IP as well? Well, that's not happening any time soon since Gearbox still own the IP.

If Microsoft hasn't tapped one of its studios to work on Fallout, then they missed out. Bethesda won't even be able to get to it for many years, and it wasn't their original creation. It was even handed off briefly to Obsidian, also owned by Microsoft, and they made what is probably the highest regarded of the modern Fallout games.
Yeah I'm still holding out hope that Microsoft will force Bethesda to let Obsidian make another Fallout game. Probably won't happen but a man can dream.
Obsidian is garbage now, all the Black Isle devs left, and NV just reused plots that were in Fallout Van Buren. NV was lightning in a bottle and not nearly as much of an accomplishment as people think it was.
@@TheLucasplusi dont know that obsidian would even want to. but handing it over to teams besides bethesda is 100% the move to make. one entry/10 years is maybe fine for gta but for these games its a very long time.
Ita pretty short sighted to not have a game come out at the same time as a TV show.
@@fortnightman8669 What the fuck are you even talking about? Feargus is still the founder and head of Obsidian, with Black Isle OGs Josh Sawyer, Chris Avellone and Darren Monaghan still at the company. In particular Josh Sawyer isn't working on Avowed which is set in the Pillars universe, his creation, so we don't know what he is working on right now but Avellone and Monaghan are. Outer Worlds, Pillars 1 & 2, Grounded and Pentiment are all outstanding games. Kindly STFU about thinks you clearly don't know about.
I can't wait for Henry to come visit us again at the end of this year. ❤
I shall cry Christian tears when the day comes.
can confirm that No Rest for the Wicked has been improved substantially since its release into Early Access.
The itemization still needs a lot of work but it’s so fun that i keep coming back to it
The devs of No Rest For The Wicked have been pushing out updates like crazy since EA was dropped, and the game has already been improved immensely.
If the game has piqued your interest, don’t let the negative reviews scare you away, it’s really amazing!
One of the greatest games ive ever played fr fr, NrftW is genuinely a masterpiece already and there's still so much yet to look forward to!
It's only the first chapter though, right? It does look amazing but Im gonna wait, maybe for the full release.
SkillUp, I don't know if you read all your comments, but I just wanted to say that I finally took your advice and played through Outer Wilds this past week and it was just as life changing as you promised. Thank you, sir, for pounding that one into our heads because I don't know if I would have given it a thought without your constant praise for it. Cheers.
It's phenomenal ❤️
I did too but got bored very early through and thought I'll get back to it..... Has the frame rate been updated on consoles yet
Hey SkillUp, in case you missed it, the developer of Manor Lords, Greg, released a post of what Manor Lords is and is not. In that post he specifically distanced Manor Lords away from games like Total War, Crusader Kings, etc. I think this was a good post to properly align expectations.

Seeing fallout in the news makes me happy.
Same.
brings me back when everyone was talking about Fallout 3 and it being rewarded GOTY by so many people and magazines
19:30 I've read many, many reviews on Steam and in all honesty - the game is not the issue here.
The real problem is that people just don't understand what an Early Access release is. They fail to understand that this is not the final version of the game - on the contrary, it is explicitly released in this early build so that the players can give feedback and things can be changed (and no, that's not just wild guessing, that's what the developers have said). It's the Larian way of using Early Access to test and try what works and what doesn't and develop the game along the lines of feedback.
People just like to b***h and cry like it's a national past time, unfortunately, it's also why we've ended up like in 2024 with all the bad stuff surrounding us. People like to moan but to do something, read a book, inform themselves, VOTE for someone that's not a dinosaur no matter the party they coming from, etc never.
Doing something? Hard, I have to remove myself from the couch, I love being a potato! Opening twitter or other social media or reviews, etc and B and moan to my hearts content? PROFIT
Last week you highlighted No Rest For The Wicked. It sounded very ambitious so I became a day 1 player despite not being much of a gamer. I have had no interest in playing any game like it before. That being said I am absolutely addicted. Many of the negative reviews are said to have come from people who took a peek and didn't like what they saw and dipped. Many have stuck it out and are thrilled. It got 4 patches in week 1. They really care. Day 1 was rough. People with nice pcs were stuck with potatoe fps. While the performance has increased with each patch it's not a high fps game, but it's also doesn't need to be.
I emplore any and everyone to give it a chance. It's not expensive and a refund is always possible.
Thanks skill up
I know they have their own projects, but Obsidian and inXile are right there to work on a smaller Fallout game...
I'd love for InXile to make a Fallout game, my dream Fallout game is a crpg in the style of Wasteland or XCOM (not just missions, but with exploration, although a Tactics type game might be a good fit for the XCOM style)

Only if that get support from another studio. People don't like to admit it but NV was good because it was built on top of FO3's foundation. We've seen what happens when Obsidian tried to build a game like that from scratch.
It wouldn't be the same people that made new vegas though.
@@mechanicalmonk2020 Yeah and because the foundation was already there for NV Obsidian could focus on making good quests and characters which is their strength.

Arcane - Semi-canonical, pseudo-related to the game show
Fallout - A big pile of sh@t on New Vegas lore and themes + an even bigger pile of sh@t on F1/F2 fans
Cyberpunk - The only good one. A decent suspense-action-thriller story about the misadventures of a separate cast of characters some time in the past in Nigh City.

Stellar Blade is a double-A game. And it feels like all the negatives stated are par for the course for what we'd normally expect in double-A games; like some repeating biomes, or under baked side quests, etc. As long as the core aspects are solid, it'll be good. For those outside the community, Asmodee was already Embracer-ing the tabletop market before Embracer existed.
As an aside, I wonder if Lord of the Rings Online goes to CSF or MEEF 😅
Uh, what? Asmodee has a generally really good reputation among all the board game spaces I’ve seen irl and online
@@MosesSuppose Asmodee spent years buying up small publishers, buying out rights for existing games, screwing with distribution deals, messing with digital adaptations, consolidating customer relations, disabling the ability to order replacement parts, forcing store returns rather than resolutions, and strongarming floor space at cons.
Some of these things were results of misguided efforts or bad execution of good intention, but most were purely profit motivated. In either instance many of them hurt the customer experience, and harmed many smaller game retailers' chances of competing in/against the online market in the long term.
They have good games, because they buy good games. Their mondo portfolio and aggressive profitablity are precisely why they were attractive to Embracer.
I tried the Zau game during Steam’s Next Fest and for a few hours last night. I just feel like the combat and movement is just too stiff and derivative for my liking. I’m happy for the brand new team’s first shot at a metroidvania, but when comparing it to the likes of Ori and Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown it just doesn’t hold up for me. Story is nice, but gameplay is king, especially for that genre.
I'm about 3/4 of the way in, I agree about the combat but disagree about the movement. The platforming sections get far more interesting as the game gets further in but the combat feels very simple and there's a lack of enemy variety.

Thing about Stellar Blade is that I'm happy that Korean game devs are FINALLY making single player games and sort-of maybe veering away from MMO/Gatcha BS. Although, having been apart of Korean games since forever now, I'm not surprised the things non-visual spectacle is dogs**t. Maybe with Crimson Desert Korean devs will actually finally start regularly developing palpable games from their typical psycho-manipulative, grind-fest MMOs that they're known for.
And yes, I know Koreans make a wide variety of games like as any other ethnicity, it's just that they have obvious talent that tends to go only towards MTX-fueled video games.
