S23 in a dark indoor situation takes amazing videos with zoom. thats something no other phone does. just remember to set the volume buttons to zoom in and out smoothly.
I wouldn't do that, because you're still zooming in digitally

Zoom in using the presets only bro. Digital zoom in low light is a big no no.
I'd love to see a redo of this after the big camera update that's soon to be released for the S23U!

The front facing of the s23 literally looked like the color graded video of your DSLR and you still said iPhone captures more "true to life" colors. iPhone is just flat, looks better, makes people look more beautiful but that's about it. Ultra looks more true to life as in what a human eye sees. IMO ofcourse.

Well done! A very fair and thorough comparison. I wonder what kind of periscope lens we will see on the next iPhone this fall. Probably not 10x but a solid 6x or 8x would be a big step as long as the sensor size and stabilization are up to Apple’s rigorous standards…

It will be more of a 6x than an 8x, but even this would bring the IPhone into 2023 zoom wise, and this is needed.

I have s10plus and iphone 12 pro max and planning to upgrade whether 23 ultra or 14 pro max... im.into filiming now... do you think 14 pro.max has better video quality.. s23 is great but there is something in s23 videos from vloggers that making it not good in the screen. When you pan is it shakey compare to iphone?

Nice review! I had both phones, would like to use it for real estate video shooting. Right now I shoot on camera Sony a7 III, But would like to try phones(because of annoying heavy Steadicam for camera). Soon will do the test. I suppose S23 fit for my purposes more. What do you think? Anyway subscribed, and will follow your videos!

When I eecord video in 60fps and put it in a 30fps timeline does this still allow me to slow down tbe video and use a spwed ramp in post? Also dies taking lots of video with the Samsung clog up the memory on the phone and cause the phone to function slow?

smaller file size of the iphone is due to HEVC video codec that it uses by default versus h264 of samsung by default

Everything is ok except the natural DOF test. The Iphone sensor size is 1/1.28 inch. And S23 ultra is 1/1.3 inch. They are almost the same size. So The difference in dof should be very minor. I've test both and the dof is almost the same.
There must be something wrong with your dof test. They could not be that big difference :D

Doess samsungs raw video have less sharpening just like raw photos? And is t as same as iphone?
And also is the 8k video better in terms of quality detials and less sharpening than iphones 4k?
there is currently no "native" raw video mode, neither for iPhone nor for the Samsung. When it comes to 8k, it is definitely sharper, just due to the higher resultion

I just discovered and used that HDR 10 plus feature on my s23 ultra and the clarity of the video is amazing even in darker environments. The s23 ultra its so much more value for the money overall . I've used the 14 pro max and the lack of capabilities bore and irritate me

@@smartphonefilmmakingpro no clarity of 10x zoom on iPhone 14 pro , no edge panel like my s23 ultra, no multi tasking, no 100x zoom, no dex , no swipe pen which i absolutely love to use tge air action like the remote to control volume and take pictures, limited customization. SAMSUNG IS WAY MORE FUN TO USE . I HAD IPHONE FOR YEARS UNTIL 2019 AND I SWITCH TO SAMSUNG NEVER WENT BACK

Only portrait mode of ip14 is better ... also the light in portrait mode should actually be like on samsung ... too many people miss this ... once samsung fixes some graininess in portrait mode you can give her all the mugs

Choose iPhone if you use gimbal, most gumbals are not 100% compatible with Android.
true, but that's not an issue in my opinion, you can do everything you will ever need with any phone and any gimbal these days
s23 ultra can use motioncam pro raw and film in cinema raw dng... it's just miles ahead of iphone in terms of image quality...
Have you tried it? How‘s the workflow with the dng raw files?
@@smartphonefilmmakingpro yes.. for best image quality, best to export as dng and load on davinci resolve.. for Premiere, there is a plugin to load the "mcraw" directly... you can always use only your phone and export as h265 for instance, still miles better because you bypass the OEM processing, sharpening, and so on... there are many options for export... the problems are: 1) more time needed; 2) more space needed; 3) availability from OEMS... for instance, not every OEM makes available raw stream at 60 fps... app is being active developed (one person), but gets better every day. But again.. it's not really comparable, it's just so much better than any footage any iphone could make. Ofc, if you want readiness for something like instagram, iphone all the way :)
