And if i was to go off a limb here, the hotfix was simply to quickly stop more tbows from coming into the game until they figure out what was causing the bug. The Codebase for runescape is very very big and pinpointing the exact lines of code causing this bug takes time
Debugging is legit hard, and harder when you’re shitting yourself in panic.

Actually you're wrong about one thing - there HAS been previous errors with the map editor, aka the tree behind the yanille smith that stopped the clue spot being diggable, resulting in the tree being changed to a dead tree as a lil reference.

When I was being trained at my job the instructors mostly told us and allowed us to do most things that are forbidden because it's a controlled environment and we have to know what can happen.
i remember seeing that clip of West adding the tbow spawns posted on reddit, people in the comments were saying that ''this isnt proof this is how it happened'' hahahah the mental gymnastics of course it was him we have video evidence of him doing that exact thing

Watching this vid while at the farming guild, I never noticed that twisted bush but now I see it.
I remember hearing from Aaron that he went to pvp worlds in max gear and pked people who were grabbing them when they spawned there. He knew that Jagex was going to rollback the servers due to how bad this bug was, so he got to have some fun. Really takes me back.

I seem to remember that if you had a offer in for a T-Bow at like 50 mil before the update and it got completed without you login in between the update and the rollback, you would get to keep the T-Bow purchased for 50 mil.

I would expect gold sites do a lot of repeat business (therefore some amount of customer service) and have way more gold than they can sell, I think they would probably be able to get it back in a lot of situations unfortunately
But this was the opposite! People sold multiple bows obtained through this and got away.

I remember this one vividly as I was already at the Farming guild when the update hit.
Imagine being a random kid who just got off the bus, so excited to play RS again, walking by and finding a tbow, only to be banned because of someone else’s negligence.
I mean that’s not really the whole story but ok.
You weren’t banned for simply picking it up, you would have had to sell it AND use that gold to buy bonds and then redeem the bonds to get free membership. That’s what people were banned for. And they weren’t even perma banned. Just temp banned until their membership was adjusted back

RS private servers have a keychain attached to each location so when you drop an item or if an item is spawned/looted from an area it has let’s say #5 for varrock at the end of the items numerical value so they can see where people get loot or if glitches arise they can easily hotfix them. it’s really weird Jagex doesn’t implement this feature when i even use it on other games that i’ve made mods for to notice duplication glitches right away.

a gamma is 1/20k chance to find, the mon im lookin for is 1/50.
The odds are 1/1.02 million which takes about 660+ days of straight encounters for its gamma chance, or 17k hours to find.

as someone that is both a NOOOB and a primarly ranged main........the fact that the twisted bow could be gotten for basically free.....PISSES ME OFF...rofl I've spent ENTIRELY to much gold on gear that dropped in price astronomically not long after....
The beginning intro of this video hit way too close to home for me. I ran CoX pretty much every night for almost exactly one year (normal mode). Solo runs because expecting trust in osrs is a fools' errand. Now I'm not some utlra sweaty who can run world record time but I was averaging between 22-25 minutes a run. I do work a regular job so I really would get about 4-6 runs in a night, and on days off, I might be able to bang out 10-20 runs depending on my motivation. In the end, I never did get a Tbow to drop, I just made enough money off of chambers to just buy one at about 900 KC. Sure, I own one now but it still feels hollow never having it actually drop and even sadder, 900 KC still isn't actually enough in terms of average for one to drop.
I was one of the first people to pick it up. I had actually just gotten my first tbow legitimately through staking if you want to call that legitimately, but I was so scared that jagex was going to fuck up my account so I dropped traded it to a different account, but they eventually took the, fake one away and then everyone kept coming up to me and saying FAKE TBOW
I remember this day. Idk what world I was on, but I was in the farming guild collecting my compost from the bin and I saw the bow spawn. I ran outside and grabbed it and then realized the bow kept spawning. I had 8 bows in my inventory before I left and sold them on the GE. Then they rolled back. And I didn't get banned. Good times.

I remember watching Mod West stream, when he spawned a T bow near farming guild, the clip you shown is not that I remember, I can't remember if he deleted or just picked it up and left the spawn there to exist :)

Why would a Jmod need to steal players items when they can spawn any item in the game...
RWT, spawning in items and selling them would be noticed very quickly as they would immediately track it back, stealing items and selling them would take longer to track down as it would appear that accounts were being hacked which is a much more common practice then a surge of high value items comming into circulation in the in game economy....
