So, I wanna put eagle heads on my pre-eagle HEMI. I believe with stock head gaskets id be running around 11.75/1 compression. Id like to run 91 pump gas. How thick head gaskets would i need to drop the compression low enough to run 91 pump gas? Also, i would imagine with factor gaskets i would use pushrods for an eagle hemi, but with a thicker head gasket would i need to run custom pushrods to make up for the thickness? Or can the lifters compensate for the pushrod length? Just wanna make sure i get all my ducks in a row before buying parts.
I’m running a 070 gasket
I’m running with the eagle push rods, it puts me almost 0 lash. But I would recommend getting custom push rods.
It put me to around 10.5.1
@@TheTazzman1968 okay, thank you for your response. And where would a guy find custom push rods? Anywhere online to buy them or would i have to have someone with machinery custom build pushrods? And i imagine the pushrods would be eagle pushrods, .030 over (stock is .040 i think, so .070-.040=.030)
You can call MMX there in VA.. they do a crap load of Gen 3 stuff.
So if you run a thicker head gasket then the pushrods still won't work correct?
Yes and no.. we used the stock eagle push rods with the 0.70 gasket on our build.. that being said that put us about 0 preload. It also depends on what cam you get . If it has a smaller base circle .
Thanks for the reply... I've got all the parts so im about to build one.
@@TheTazzman1968would the stock pushrods work in that particular setup with a comp cam stage 1 bar cam
When you put different heads and camshaft in your motor do you tune them yourself?
Took it to a tuner
@@TheTazzman1968 yeah. Only one around here with a Dyno is 150 miles away. It wants to go dead from park to reverse or drive. I have HP tuners and trying to get it stable enough to drive.
Had mine done with hp.. think flyin Ryan does down load tunes.
What legnth pushrods do I get
So if i decide to go through with this and i change the heads, the flow will increase but what do i gain?
Also gaining compression..
@@TheTazzman1968 I understand that but how does this trasnlate into, more power, more torque, just the next step toward forced induction?
@@michaelgimenez4032 You don't want more compression with forced induction. You will also need a bigger ring gap for forced induction. More compression = more HP, but you have to tune for it and run higher octane fuel. If you want more torque, stroke it.
@@Kettenhund75 Currently been running on 87 octane for a while and considering the gas prices, very happy about that fact.
However that thing absolutely deserves to stretch its legs and reach some of the untapoed potential and both optiins are either cammed and staying NA or going forced induction.
ATM nothing as been decided yet, still weighting the options.
You seem to know more than i do so what would be your reasoning toward both paths?
What is the factory thickness on the gaskets?
I am throwing 6.1 heads on my pre-eagle.
0.040
@@TheTazzman1968 Thank you sir
If I do the heads and pistons, do i need to do a tune?
If stock , no.
i have a question what pushrods and size?
I used the eagle push rods on our build .
What do you do about the difference In coil packs?
U can buy pig tails or wire them yourself to just fire both at the same time. Runs way better too. MMX sells them for like $100
Do you need any specific gaskets?
6.1 gaskets on the eagle with 6.1 intake.
If you are wanting to use 6.1 intake on a pre eagle 03 to 08 you will need a adapter plate.
Do you know what length push rods ?
It all depends on what cam you’re using.
What cam did you end up using im looking at a comp 268
Can you use the pre eagle rocker arm shaft on the eagle heads?
Yes
@@TheTazzman1968 thank you very much
Do you know what it’s bumps the compression ratio to if you use a stock thickness head gasket??
Around 13.5.1 +/- then you might want to check valve to piston clearance.
