I feel like leet speak is dead. I haven't seen it in ~4 years now... That is actually a bit sad because I liked it and because it gave everything a mysterious and secret feeling. And when I say "I haven't seen it", I mean I haven't seen it massively used. Of course I see one or two leet messages once a month.
I just realized that wikepedia's interface hasn't changed much over the years......And yes, that's all that i noticed throughout the entirety of this video.
This news story does what typical news stories do: feed into fears of the unknown. It didn't do much thorough research about where 13375P34K is mostly used and instead focused solely on the possibility that it could be used by cyber predators to target younger audiences. Is there that possibility? Yes, but why make it the main focus when 13375P34K is almost always used for benign purposes?
This is why kids should not have access to languages other than English. How am I supposed to keep track of everything my child says when they can understand a language that I don't? They might actually be able to *gasp* TAKE CONTROL OF THEIR OWN LIVES!
The entire world has been built on acronyms for decades before this was uploaded, sometimes I wonder if it's the industry's fault, or if there's something about the career that makes bellends flock
@BlackMetalMovies Leet wasnt made for gaming. it was originated to bypass word filters on message boards by using combinations of words, numbers and symbols. Textisms are like "lol, gypo, omg, wtf".

That may be so but generally it isn't a case of understanding but of seeing what the words are because it looks very similar to english... sometimes it's harder when people use the more extreme versions but I can generally pick up a few words and get the gist of whats going on. Some large companies have dedicated manuals for their own acronyms, they aren’t ideal for communication in non technical contexts.

It doesn't make your computer blow up or some crap like that.

Weird thing is, my dad would probably believe this if he saw it himself.
Maybe it's people's lack of grammatical integrity that prevents people from understanding wtf they're saying.
Fast forward to the modern day where many new parents know or have a basic understanding of leet speak
At 2:02 you can read it accidentally I mean it really isn't that complicated

Leet is so old...people who use it now (or try to use it) are just dumb. We used to use it on IRC and PC games when it was actually cool to do.
til leet is a computer language
*sigh* So, basically, they're encouraging parents to be a pain in the ass and look at your kid's screen every five minutes.
