Grear stuff Peter, those things not starting after disconnecting a battery can be scary, just another thing to keep our blood pressure up😂😂 thanks for sharing
One of my customers is still waiting for a protection module, I knew she would be waiting a while so she ordered the part herself. That was back in september 😮 Great video thanks for sharing
I kinda knew that could so choose the 2nd hand route. It can be a bit of a chance but luckily it worked out on this occasion. It was talking to the owner the other day and the car is perfect at this point 🙂🙂 Cheers mate 🙏🙏
The new vauxhall grandland's and astra ls are exactly the same, psa rubbish, anything done lock them and let them power down for 30 minutes, nice fix for the battery drain
P.S.A stuff always has that "Stank" when you sit in - a mixture of head gasket failure/electrical components burning up/leaking fluids/the sweat of Technicians that have labored on them/the smell of despair from the owner leaching into the seats... It's that "French Car Smell" most mechanics will know only too well. I drive an old pre-PSA Renault - so it's not a "French" thing - it's a PSA thing. "Merde!" is usually what I think when working on them.
Hi peter , working on 2021 renault clio fault while driving everything cutting out for 2 seconds engine , power steering and no dash lights , speedo rev counter etc only does it in the morning after a few minutes of driving , no codes could the bms on the battery cause this and would it be okay to disconnect this or bypass it to try it ?
@@johnbickle4654 I wonder could it be a ground or earth strap related fault??? Would it be worth connecting a set of jump leads from battery negative to the engine & the 2nd lead from battery negative to the body. Just as a test on cold start 🤔🤔🤔
You might be able to go into the BSI and change the battery charge estimation from the BECB to the BSI, which can result in a fix with no cost. Only downsides is that there is no charge of battery when slowing down and slightly inaccurate charge estimation.
@@kennedysgarage3281I know it's possible in the X07 series but the X08 PSA cars started to vary charge voltage based on braking effort to increase fuel economy, so it may not work.
I'm sure Citroen have done these things deliberately over the years just to give them 'character',make them 'quirky'! :-) I've been into Citroens and Renaults for decades as i can't stand myself and hate everything about me!! I remember i had a Citroen xm years ago, looked out the living room window into the dark night to see my car sitting there,i shouted shit!!,someone's stealing the car!!dash lights on,radio display on,interior lights on so i belt out ready to confront whoever,no need!! The car did it all on it's own!!lol.
some peugeot /vauxhall and others you need to lock car up ten minutes after fitting battery / battery disconnection. then and only then can you attempt to start car catch you out every time you replace battery on certain models..ps don't you think manufactures give you a little more wire at the battery to put test meters on around the cables why don't dealers complain ??? or don't they actually do proper testing amp drain etc
This on was definitely hard to deal with, it was a wonder it wasn’t expecting me to go to the toilet or other weird stuff before it would start. Crazy cars 🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️
Yes! What a wonderful surprise to pop up in my notifications...better than Friday night TV... 👍
😂😂😂😂😂 thank you 😊😊

Plenty stressful moments in this trade Richard & on a constant basis.
You have me smiling away here 😊😊

I hate these vehicles so much! There so over engineered and full of complicated electrical crap. Fair play to you for sorting that out. Nice one👍🏻
Hey Christopher, this one really did do its own thing. And I was only along for the ride 😂😂😂😂
Over engineered is right 👍👍👍
Another fantastic video, great diagnosis Peter, looking forward to the next one, always learning from your channel 😃
Thank you Tony, I really appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment 🙏🙏🙏
Great fix Peter.
Can’t beat the older cars with less complicated electronics Michael 🙏🙏
@kennedysgarage3281 That is so true, Peter.
Great bit of information and very handy to know 👍👍
Hey John, I actually didn’t know what a ‘battery management and protection module’ was before this 😬😂😂😂

Good to know that Peter, familiarity make a fellow expect it 🙏🙏🙏
You’re right Peter. The electronics on these are so flaky. I wouldn’t have one as a gift……
My thoughts exactly, wouldn’t you think that they could design it a little bit less complex 🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️
Cheers Trevor 🙏🙏
nice
Stupid cars 😂😂😂
There's a lot of this 'parts on back order' thing going on I'm in despair with the manufacturers. So difficult to get jobs out the door!
It is happening more & more commonly recently. It is very frustrating for both the owners and us repair garages 😬😬😬

This one showed me why you dislike electrics 😂😂😂😂
It was only doing what it felt like and ignoring me 🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️
Cheers James 😉

Oooh, interesting concept. I must take a look at this the next time it is in. Greatly appreciated 🙏🙏🙏
