Excellent work. You seem to capture some of Daido Moriyama's message of chaos and balance. The use of tilt shots and simple shapes among the random also reminds me of the master's work. He is a difficult artist to characterize and I admire your courage to attempt this. Thank you for sharing your work and interesting thought project.
That first photograph at 0:48 is shot in a similar style to Sergio Larrain, focus to infinity and allow near subjects be slightly out of focus. Gives the image much more depth.
I love your video of Moriyama, as I also have 6 books, and one DVD, but I see hike as a Doisneau, and Gene Smith, as in the DVD he shows in How he shoots with reloading his camera film, and if he shoots with digital Fine, as I admired Moriyama, and in 2016 I accidentally found his office while photographing the area in Tokyo called Golden Gai, as he shows in shooting simple with a camera, so I could do the same in using a Nikon point n shoot film camera or my Canon G16 camera. It's I'm saying that any of these cameras that I mention can be use, and scan or print dark, that it is the IMAGE again I say again the IMAGE in which people cannot understand that word before breaking out the Tech Mecha just to be famous? Have you seen the DVD Moriyama - Stray Dog of Tokyo. I suggest that you should watch it, and it shows in how he shoots with a camera in how he carry his film in a fanny pack to the Early shooting stages of digital, and I like his work, and I really don't care in what shooting Mecha he use.... And your work A-1 but remember that a camera is a tool, and a image capturer not in what you see in a video as I seen on You tubers are shown with their toys, but proud in what you have....
I like your video very much. It reminds me of some pictures I took in Berlin last year with my X100s. Shooting from the hip without looking is exhilarating. Especially when it works. I was so tired coming home that night that I left my camera in the cab. It was bad to lose a camera but I it was even worse to lose some of the best pictures I ever took. You can buy a new camera, but not the pictures. At least I remember them. And now I am more careful of my possessions....especially in taxis.
thanks for the effort and the sharing. i have had my gr2 for one mont and i am still exploring its strengths. i love the high contrast black & white filter. i need to have more practice in understanding and setting up the snap focus. thumbs up.
The closest I have come to Moriyama's style was using an Olympus EM5 with a bodycap lens and using the grainy monochrome filter. It was extremely easy to use and almost completely silent.
Great information! I want to check out Daido after this to see his work. When your shooting street, at f8 and such, doesn't that drive up your ISO? Did you like or dislike the Ricoh gr's handle of grain in high ISO?
Ricoh produce great pictures until 3200 iso. During day u probably do not use higher iso. Also grain from Ricoh looks somehow pretty good. Almost like from film.

You don't have to like them - just don't be a dick. People learn by taking photos, and they get better. This guy never claimed he was an amazing photographer - we are all on a journey of learning and getting better.
@blekfut I won't say the photos are awful... When you string all of them into a book , you'll see it's charm where it tells the stories of a city.. the emotions , moods, humanity etc. That's what street photography is.

I'd like to see you do this with a Fujifilm X100V. I'm betting you could get a lot of great stuff out of that camera using this technique.

Yes that's a problem, however street photography isn't all about image quality in term of noise so I didn't worry too much :-)
