@dannybau don't think James really broke down Alex. He was very funny/entertaining but nowhere close to the top 4 in that regard. Judi Love and Sam Campbell would be up there
The entire series was his best bits. The funniest contestant ever imo. "You've got a friend!" and "Whoever you are" live rent-free in my mind, heart and soul.
Julian is 100% the most quotable person ever on Taskmaster, his insults and scathing remarks were always perfectly delivered! “How we laughed.” How we laughed indeed, thank you Julian!
Julian was hilariously unhinged. The team task in Episode 4 when they had to go sniff the front door, and Julian told Lucy she should sniff the back door had me dying
@@finmiles965 I looked into making my own, but you have to stretch the canvas, imbue it with dark magic, and then paint a convincing self-portrait. And good canvas is expensive.
I still say that that task ('s points) should not have been included: it's the first time TM has had a task where it was impossible for any contestant to complete without making a mistake.
I was so happily surprised by Julian on this show, admittedly I knew little about him although of course knowing of him. Whilst he had the ‘I’m not bothered’ approach, he delivered it perfectly and the meeting of the team is absolute all-timer for me. Every single thing he did could be considered a greatest moment.
Yes, it was astonishing - he was my fantasy dream contestant (always been a big fan, saw his stand-up shows a few times in the nineties), but I really didn't think it'd be his sort of thing.
learning who julian clary is was the greatest gift, bc now i have a role model for who i want to be when i'm older. hopefully there's still time to hone & develop that much artful disdain, and to refine my homosexual elegance.
The first part is missing my favourite bit from the outtakes, where Lucy offers Julian a bum candle and Greg mentions he's trying to get rid of the table and Julian is just like 'Oh Noo, i haven't moved on from bums :)'
The Wayne pie task was the first time fans of a certain age have seen Julian dance on telly since he made the second ever Strictly final. As elegant now as he was in 2004 😂
Julian has a very unique way with words and delivering phrases that make Greg roll in laughter but make Alex question hsi existence 😂 criminally underrated, definitely my fave contestant ever
Usually with a Taskmaster cast, I like them all but have a favorite, or someone has great moments that make me become a huge fan. But this series, it was like every single cast member was amazing start to finish.
One day, there will be a compilation about disrespecting Alex with James Acaster's disdain, Julian's Clary's contempt, Sue Perkins' insults, Rhod Gilbert's humiliations and, of course, Liza Tarbuck's cake :D Edit : and obviously - how could I omit it - Bridget Christie's psychological torture ! :D
Uncanny... and unnatural;o) Adore the whole cast, laughed the hardest at bucket filled with matches and smoke detectors, slight smoker PTSD, but Julian I hold deerly, dry wit mixed with disgruntled contempt, my not so distant future. Thx UK for charming panel and reality shows and Taskmaster (UK, AU, NOR, NZ...) for showcasing people I loved for years and more I got to cheer for over their run;o) And inclusivity, recommend it wherever I can
I loved Julian. Managed to marry stoic practicality with flamboyant gay culture, with a benignly contemptuous flair. Someone else said that Jack Dee is the heterosexual version of Julian Clary and I'm bound to agree. Such joy to watch.
I want a series featuring all of the contestants that have annoyed Alex the most. Number on one that list is Julian who makes me laugh every time some insult or off-hand comment comes out of his mouth. He's a fantastic comedian with great timing. Who else is making this list?
I can't believe they censored "Fuck Pig," which was one of the funniest and most unexpected moments of the whole series. It's completely meaningless as shown here and not funny at all. Why even include it? Also criminal omitting the driving test. Julian pausing and then just driving through the finish line was comedy gold.
The editing of Julian's "Fuck Pig" nickname is weird. It's in the full episode on this channel already, why not even just bleep it out? doing it this way completely ruins the humor of it
He was in the top 5 fav to watch. Despite being older than the others, he participated. I hated when contestants didn't even try cough*jo brand*cough 🙄
Best of Julian Clary, a.k.a. Butch, a.k.a. The Flying Homosexual. It couldn't be more obvious how much he irritated Alex, who was getting more and more passive-aggressive as the series went on.
Julian is one of those contestants with the rare ability to be the one to break down Alex over the course of the series instead of the opposite.
Another example being Bridget Christie
Julian, Bridget, Rhod, and James Acaster.
@@dannybauI dunno, I think James was broken more than Alex
@dannybau don't think James really broke down Alex. He was very funny/entertaining but nowhere close to the top 4 in that regard. Judi Love and Sam Campbell would be up there
There's comedy and then there's comedy genius
The entire series was his best bits. The funniest contestant ever imo. "You've got a friend!" and "Whoever you are" live rent-free in my mind, heart and soul.
"I'm very set in my ways" when asked if he'd stopped being interested in bums.
"Well enough about you." "Good luck to you and your family." "Fortunately, he's dead."
"I bet you've got a barbecue, haven't you"
”not only do I have a license, I’m a member of the advanced motor society, so stick that in your pipe”
"Not now, sir,
I'm adding up"
Julian's relentless contempt for Alex will live forever in Taskmaster lore.
I love thatthe table remained broken for future series, leading to the easteregg of Alex saying "A man called Butch broke it"
Julian is 100% the most quotable person ever on Taskmaster, his insults and scathing remarks were always perfectly delivered! “How we laughed.” How we laughed indeed, thank you Julian!
I'm forever grateful that he agreed to be on the show.
"You've got a friend?" Is one of the best cuts ever 😂
I'll always remember Julian as the contestant who gave as much effort as each task *deserved.* Just five points away from beating Sam in the end, too!
That urn is probably one of the best prize entires ever. Genuinely so sweet.
The end of that episode gets me every time too❤
Didn't I hear a rumour that 'that' friend was Paul O'Grady?
Agreed. I shed a tear every time
@@daruddock According to Paul's wiki he was buried.
Julian was hilariously unhinged. The team task in Episode 4 when they had to go sniff the front door, and Julian told Lucy she should sniff the back door had me dying
I can only pray to be half as iconic when I grow into an aging homosexual
What do you mean "when"? Haha
Well if he's gay then he doesn't have much of a choice but to age does he😂@@TheHominidShow
It would be queer if you never aged...
@@arnoudh6203 I'm tempted to pull a Dorian Gray but I'm also a broke homosexual so can't afford a cursed self-portrait sadly haha

4:10 is one of the best sequences TM ever had. The look into the hole, the look at Alex, and the latter dissolving into laughter - it's perfect!
I still say that that task ('s points) should not have been included:
it's the first time TM has had a task where it was impossible for any contestant to complete without making a mistake.

Julian is just one of a kind and a legend. He should be on telly loads more imo
Apparently he just doesn't want to do TV but made an exception for Taskmaster
As much as I love every bit of Taskmaster, I will forever be most grateful to it for introducing me to Julian Clary ❤
Same.
Omg you have to check out his older stuff! He’s such a legend ❤
This series was stellar
What a series. Still amazing to me that they got Julian on this.
Yes, it was astonishing - he was my fantasy dream contestant (always been a big fan, saw his stand-up shows a few times in the nineties), but I really didn't think it'd be his sort of thing.

You’ve got to delve into his back catalogue!! 😉 he’s a total ledge and I love him ❤
Should have included team hotel task i was dying of laughter
No doubt that will be on Lucy or Susan's compilation
“Not now sir, I’m adding up.” 😂😂😂
The Natural Friends run a hotel!
The little push away at the end when Alex is leaving sends me 🤣
Wouldn't really be fair to include it in individual compilations because absolutely everyone was iconic in it
The first part is missing my favourite bit from the outtakes, where Lucy offers Julian a bum candle and Greg mentions he's trying to get rid of the table and Julian is just like 'Oh Noo, i haven't moved on from bums :)'
Shortening "fuck pig" to just "pig", amazing
Amazing or censorship. It's definitely one of those.
Hope the full episode still has the full nickname, that was an amazingly unexpected moment 😂
I thought it was a David Cameron reference, to go with his old Norman Lamont comment.
When I think of Julian I think of him riding off into the sunset on a street sweeper.
The Wayne pie task was the first time fans of a certain age have seen Julian dance on telly since he made the second ever Strictly final. As elegant now as he was in 2004 😂
Its one of my favorite seasons, they were a perfect mix :)
Julian and Sam made series 16 one of my all time favorites.
I had no clue Julian Clary existed before this show. Now, I absolutely adore him. 🥰 My heart is finally whole. Thanks from SD, USA.
Julian has a very unique way with words and delivering phrases that make Greg roll in laughter but make Alex question hsi existence 😂 criminally underrated, definitely my fave contestant ever
"Your legal department won't thank me for going into details." sums up Julian's stint on this show pretty well.
He made those episodes extra special. Brilliant!
Julian was by far one the best contestants on Taskmaster.
Alternate title: Julian insults Alex for 24 minutes
Julian is one of my favorite contestants of all time.
one of the best seasons, period, in the shows entire run, dont @ me. adore this man.
I hadn't laughed so hard and so often for such a long time before seeing this series. Easily one of the top 3, if not the best yet.
From the first word, Julian had my heart.
Exactly! ❤
Jack Dee is the heterosexual version of Julian Clary.
Some people have no character, some have.
Some just ARE characters and that's Julian
One of my favorite seasons very quickly. Sam reminds me of James Acaster. This season even surpassed my favs 7/9 because the whole cast was delightful
4:12 This has always been my favorite Julian and Alex moment. The look Julian gives Alex and then Alex laughing just always makes me laugh!!
Julian Clary was brilliant on TaskMaster...
This was just the best group! They all made me laugh so much.
"The charisma of Matt Hancock" is probably the single most brutal insult in the history of the show.
Maybe for people who have a clue who this Matt Hancock is. So almost nobody.

Zero to tears so quick at that ending. What a wonderful tribute.
The driving task needs to be here
It's difficult work for an aging homosexual.

The Joan Collins Fan Club ending up on TM was not something any of us from that era expected.
Where's one of the most iconic moments, Julian crossing the finish line?
I want to know what sassy remark Julian made during the ball in the hole task that they censored out that clearly made Alex break.

Julians greatest moment was ignoring Alex’s driving lessons
“I don’t know if you know, I’m a homosexual”
“Ah! Congratulations.”

Look. I’m not as angry about it as about censoring the mermaid song, but shortening fuck pig to just pig is pretty pathetic.
At least the mermaid song has a reason, a copyright problem allegedly
Don't blame the Taskmaster channel. Blame RUclips for its harsh censorship.
For me its the withering look that he must have had on his face on revealing the hidden hole, it actually broke Alex 😂
How we laughed! 😂
