I have a feeling the first one was supposed to be a tie-breaker, but since everyone did it without breaking any eggs they decided to show it as a regular task.
There were too many “Pull the cloth without breaking or spilling” tasks in series six. At least two or three. They’re all pretty boring. And it was the first 10 episode season, I suspect they didn’t yet have enough solid tasks for a big season like that.
@@johnskrip7174 that's exactly the issue with it, they likely didn't film enough tasks so had to use a few filler ones. Although it is the series with the most tasks (most had 6 tasks an episode, when now it's strictly 5), so they probably could have cut a few of them without needing to put another in its place.
he's got a point, but it would be valid only if Ed would warn that he's going to jump, but the girls were clearly surprised so yeah, it doesn't make sense 😅
Nice touch on starting with the egg cloth task followed by Greg's "I'll kick you in the leg" threat, because I rewatched series 6 recently and after that task I thought to myself that Greg must have booted himself in the shin quite a few times over the years for all the times he voluntarily gave everyone the same score 😂
I'm always reminded whenever I see things from his series that I'm pretty sure Ed Gamble is my favorite Taskmaster contestant ever. Just SO passionate and so truly wanted to win that it always made his reactions to the mercurial nature of Greg's judgements hilarious.
Even funnier if you imagine Greg as Ed's dad based on their dynamic and the way Greg treats James and Nish as his sons best friends that are over at their house all the time 😂
I wonder if there will be enough material for a compilation of S18 callbacks to S1. We’ve seen the Aussie footballers and tree wizards so far, but I wonder what more is to come?
That’s so weird that they uploaded it, took it down, then reuploaded it without a relevant task. Why would they do that? That’s Orwellian. The only other examples I can think of that happening are with TMNZ S02 when they were talking about Cosby. Was one of the Aussie Rules football players canceled?
@@ShinyHubCaps It's nothing as sinister as that. There was an audio/video glitch and I guess it was quicker to cut out that task than to fix the glitch. It's the weekend, after all.
Seattle, WA here, it's crazy how much I love this show. Wish we had a US version, although I'm sure it would be less than. Either it would be commercialized, gimmicky, boarderline-dangerous, or some combination thereof. And with my luck, the taskmaster would be Jim Gaffigan and his side-kick would be Jimmy Fallon. Oh, Lord, that's the high-octane nightmare fuel.
I’d suggest giving “Unpaid Intern” here on RUclips a go. (Via RUclipsr Ludwig Ahgren.) There’s only 4 contestants and they switch out each episode but I still found it quite a bit of fun. (Though I did already know most of the contestants which probably made it more enjoyable for me.) They clearly put a ton of effort into it, especially when trying to do their own thing when it comes to “tasks” and I found quite a few moments pretty damn funny. You could also try to find the short lived US version of Taskmaster. It really pales in comparison to the original (by a LOT) and several other versions from around the world (Possibly even all of them though I’ve never watched any of the non English speaking ones.) but I didn’t find it quite as horrible as most people do. Don’t get me wrong, it’s faaar from great but it has a couple of fun moments and Little Alex Horne as well.
5:30 This honestly pisses me off because, Rose and Katie wouldn't know when Ed was gonna buck, so they would still be nervous and on edge. The point of the game isn't to do with the spring at all, it's about tensely waiting for the donkey to buck. And that was still very much in the game, no matter how much they put on funny accents and played around. They still didn't know when Ed would decide to buck :D
25:09 ... one of those moments that make me question whether Lucy is incredible at keeping her persona or if she's actually just not the brightest bulb in the chandelier. 😂
Exactly, it just ends up feeling like a waste of a task. I understand occasionally it has to happen according to the rules and technicalities, and of course I understand that sometimes it's still entertaining. But in tasks where there is a subjective element, there should never be a tie imo.
This might be taking the show too seriously, but I do get frustrated when Greg deviates from the regular scoring system. Especially when he refuses to hand out 1s. I want pain and suffering!
Someone really needs to sit Greg down and explain to him that giving everyone the same number of points (whether its 0, 1, or 5) has no meaning whatsoever. "They're all great, 5 to everyone!" is exactly the same as "They're all great, 0 to everyone!" or "1,000,000 to everyone!"
The fact that Greg doesn't go for the 1,2,3,4,5 is noteworthy in itself. You'd expect to have a possibility to improve (or worsen) your position after a task. The fact that it doesnt is a curveball in itself. What IS true is that it doesnt matter if you give all of them 5, or all of them 0. But the fact that theyre all the same does have an impact on the scoring.
Greg didn’t do this much in the first few series. I wonder if he had to deal with the fallout of some genuinely bruised and fragile egos afterwards, so he started being more generous. 😊
@@kisbie No one likes it, especially Alex and the contestants. If anything, Greg does it to be an arse. But I legitimately don't think he understands the problem with it either.
Greg and little Alex Horne I've watched every single episode of Taskmaster original and Australia and New Zealand and they're a brilliant oasis in the deserts of nonsense on RUclips. However RUclips is drowning your excellent show with too many adverts in a desperate attempt to bully people into buying premium! Hope you can address it with them or like some of the most successful channels on RUclips like Mark Wiens demonitize it❤️🙌👏
@Tao_Tology they literally bought an entire house and constantly spend 100s of thousands of dollars per episode.... pretty sure they can afford maybe 200 bucks worth of glasses.....

It would have worked as a task if the table was the exact size as the cloth

I am surprised that nobody pointed out that pulling the cloth sideways in the tables long direction is safer - they just did it (or didn't).

What makes me laugh about that is the singular ‘leg’. (And also as opposed to the more conventional ‘balls’ or similar.) 🦵

How about "Times Alex had to remind the contestants about the task."?
The Bridget Christie & Katherine Parkinson special
