    ------------
    In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
    Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion.

    I think by focusing on Greg we miss the true savage here: Little Alex Horne, preparing his book of "only 148" texts, knowing he's going to devastate Joe, snitching on all the contestants. He's the real monster

    • @buggyboogle9
      @buggyboogle9 Год назад +65

      Yes. In the episode, where in the prize category, Rhod had brought as one of the “worst gifts ever received,” that tree-like ornament, which had been gifted to him by his wife and which prior to that had been gifted to Rhod’s wife by Greg, there was a savage Alex moment. Jessica Knappet had won the prize category and at the end of the show, she is seen posing with the various prizes and she jokingly threatens to drop the ornament. Both Rhod and Greg look aghast and jump up to stop her, but she had also looked at Alex, the power behind the throne. Alex gave a small nod, and she dropped it! To the real dismay and shock of Rhod and Greg, who ends the show, saying he can’t believe she did that.
      The ornament was subsequently repaired and glued together by the production team but that destruction was all at the hands of Alex.

    Joe's potato toss is a tragic miscarriage of justice especially because Joe never *actually* touched the red green.
    When you look at the shot from when he's actually doing the task, his shoe is clearly still only contacting the concrete.
    At best the tip of his shoe is maybe overhanging the red green a tiny amount. More than anything it's the overhead camera angle that makes it look like he's on it.
    Justice for Joe

    • @Elwaves2925
      @Elwaves2925 Год назад +5

      Oh dear, here we go again. 😁
      It's a little more than just the tip, at least three toe ends are over the green, maybe the big toe too. It's not a lot but it's enough. If those toes were overhanging as you claim, there would be more shadow visible. Even if it was overhanging, as soon as he leans forward to take the shot, which he clearly does in the first clip, his weight would transfer to those toes meaning they had to be touching the green. It's unavoidable. The angle used is likely because it's the only one that showed it clearly enough but it doesn't disaprove anything. That's not even accounting for Alex's POV or that of any of the many crew members all there watching him throw.
      I wanted to Joe to get the points in spite of this but it wasn't to be. The facts back up the decision that he touched the green.

    • @Beefyrulz
      @Beefyrulz Год назад +15

      @@Elwaves2925 You can clearly see Joe's shoes earlier in the task or any other, they curl up on the front. When he walks, his heel leaves the ground before the front of his shoe rolls downward and contacts the floor. Meaning while standing flat, the tip of his shoe is still curled upward and away from the ground.
      When he throws the potato, his heel never leaves the ground meaning he's putting the weight more on the front pad of his foot but still the whole base of the foot nonetheless, not his toes. Which means his shoes would've still be overhanging the red green but not touching.
      Justice for Joe

      @robertcampbell8070 Год назад +3

      @@Beefyrulz Except the close up of his foot shows that when standing there is a clear shadow beneath the front of his foot. A shadow which is not there when he's on the red green. Justice has been served.

      I've always subscribed to what I call the winkle-picker defence, but I wonder would the task be so legendary if the decision was very clearly one way or the other? Maybe not being 100% on it makes it more exciting, as well as rooting for the adorable "please don't take this away from me".
      I expected Alex to do his due diligence and get the shoes, show them in the studio the same distance over the red, and for him to conclusively demonstrate whether or not the shoe actually made meaningful contact with the red; I'm very surprised Alex let us down here!

    Now that I've seen that last task so many times, he should have gotten points. The task didn't say to send 150 texts, it said one every day. Alex said 150. Unless he didn't send one every day, he got cheated.

      Well if we start him off in February and not on a Leap Year, giving him the fewest amount of days possible, that's exactly 150 days over the course of 5 months. Any other combination of consecutive months would have actually been more than 150 days.

    I've watched this so many times because of how funny johnny vegas is, buts it's just recently that I noticed that the reason he fell is because out of camera shot the hose did curl up.... so he didn't fall for no reason, he tripped over the hose.

    Imo there is no other series cohort that would’ve all failed at the overfloweth task. Every other had at least one highly competitive smart Alec who would’ve cracked it without putting any solids on the red green. And Rhod Gilbert would’ve got bored and stripped Alex or something.

      I think they actually confirmed afterwards that the producers were in the wrong. Mark had correctly sent a text every day for five months (148 in total) but the producers had miscalculated and thought the total should be 150.

    The beer mat competition was "Make the biggest beer mat house...", it was NOT "finish the alloted time with the biggest beer mat house." Yes, Johnny's house fell over - but so do all houses in the fullness of time. Johnny won that one.

    • @iliketrains3495

      It's not the beer mat house falling down that got him disqualified, it's that he missed the bell twice, which happened as a result of his bewilderment of the house falling.

    At about 12:35, Johnny is reading the task. Something zips by in the sky with a brief woosh sound, added by the editors twice. Far in the sky, you'll see airplanes pass over in the blink of an eye. Totally unnecessary, but a nice touch.
