    ALERT: DO NOT BUY TESMAT! READ BELOW...
    Update: I currently don't recommend the TESMAT as there are reports they are ignoring customers. I reached out to them and they have ignored me too for months and even owe me money. The product is too thin & not very comfortable for longer trips. I've since upgraded and have found an incredible memory foam & self-inflating mattress from EXPED (world renowned camping company) that is almost 4 inches thick and is super comfortable. REALLY wish I came across this review before I bought. I paid a massive shipping cost (should NEVER cost this much to ship to me) and it was supposed to be "1 day" shipping. Long story short, they haven't replied to a Facebook message and 2 email chains now so definitely feeling this. I opened up a case review with PayPal but also have to wait until the end of September to close it out.
      For anyone else reading this, DO NOT buy from TesMat, not only are they ignoring but not even shipping orders... which is horrific!!!

      @@robtasker3209 I'm sorry that happened to you. They've ghosted me too and still owe me money. Luckily I felt something was off from the beginning so never really promoted them much. It's unfortunate how shady some of these characters are. If you can get refunded or do a chargeback I'd suggest the EXPED MegaMat Auto. I link to it in the description of all my videos, but even if you don't buy through my link... it's the best mattress on the market with an incredible team behind the company.

    I like the fact that you have the headboard for sleeping. Where do you keep all of the extra mats when traveling?

    • @bryanhauer
      @bryanhauer  3 года назад +1

      Great question & one I should have answered in the video. After a few weeks of traveling this summer I decided that having the bed ready at a moments notice was the most important thing so I prepare it before heading out for any trip and keep it ready to go the entire trip in case I need a nap, stealth camp or in case it’s already dark when I get to a campground. Prior to that I kept the Tesmat in the sub trunk & the workout mat in the back seat.

  • @MrBroreo
    @MrBroreo 2 года назад +2

    Since you always had the bed set up, could you have just bought a cheap twin mattress instead of the 3 layers?

    • @bryanhauer
      @bryanhauer  2 года назад +2

      If it folded, sure, but I like that I can fold or roll this up and it fits in the rear cargo area and put the seats up. One other thing a regular mattress wouldn’t have is the boards in the top section like the TESMAT does. Still searching for the perfect bed, but so far this works well. 😀

    I am a side sleeper and I ordered one of these and had to send it back. I’m only 155 pounds and sink right to the hard surface underneath the foam. I would need two of these stacked on top of one another to be comfortable enough to sleep on it.

      @@TeslaOG That's been a hard one for me too. I like my current setup which incorporates 2 of the 3 strips from TESMAT + a workout mat + 3 inch memory foam, but I wish it was an all in one solution. A company did reach out to me and sent me a bed that's specifically made for the back of the Model Y and includes memory foam combined with air. I haven't tried it yet, but plan to probably next week. Keep an eye out for that review. It wouldn't work for me and my current setup as I have the fridge in back, but might be a great option for you.

    • @TeslaOG
      @TeslaOG 2 года назад +1

      @@bryanhauer I’m looking to put a fridge in the MYP and I have two small dogs. My biggest problem is that I have two batteries in my low back - so I’ve debated cutting up my queen sized gel cooled foam mattress. Or buying a full sized one to chop up. I need something much thicker. I don’t mind if it takes up a majority of the trunk area when driving. The sub trunk can hold a decent sized fridge with the 12V right there in the back and my bags can go behind the front seats and up front on the passenger side. Dogs have back seat area with dog beds and all while driving. Looking for a good way to make it private at night too. Not that cheap tent material Tesmat uses.

    Hey Bryan, I LOVED this honest review. You just earned a subscriber. I am a St. George resident and often travel to Las Vegas. I am a traveling RN with a model 3, so I'm in the process of outfitting my model 3 into a sleeper (hospital parking lots in between shifts). I have been looking at a layered mattress option like you've done to make sleeping a whole lot more comfortable. I think I will be putting a SleepOnLatex 3" topper (or maybe that Lucid one) on top of an Ikea firm mattress (Meistervik is the one I am going to try).
    Quick question for you: what do you do for privacy/lighting? Does the Tesmat privacy guard work for well enough for you? I'm trying to get Incognito Wraps (wrap shop in Las Vegas) to make custom window inserts wrapped in vinyl. I've also looked at Evannex sunshade inserts, but it does scream car camping to have reflective inserts in the windows at night.

    • @bryanhauer
      @bryanhauer  3 года назад +1

      Nice. St George is great! I think for most people a mat with a good quality memory foam topper would work great.
      As for the window shades. I think the Evanexx ones have worked almost perfectly. I haven’t had any issues with it at night as you can get the gold/black ones and turn the black side out at night and with tinted windows just looks like black tint. Can’t see the “shinyness” at all. Then during the day turn the gold reflective side out to reduce heat. The perfect one would have matte black on one side (with no holes for those dumb suction cups) and silver on the reflective side. They’re as close as I’ve found outside of getting custom ones made. They’re pricey so maybe custom makes the most sense. I’ve really liked them though.
      Let me know if you have any other questions and thanks again for watching.

    • @jacobl777
      @jacobl777 3 года назад +1

      @@bryanhauer Glad to hear you have used and liked the Evanexx ones, black and gold is what I was thinking of getting for the very same reasons you stated. Even though pricey, it seems they would pay for themselves just by avoiding hotel/Airbnb stays! Why do you not like the suction cups though, aren't they necessary to get them to stay adhered to the window?
      Two more questions if you don't mind:
      1) Just to clarify, you haven't used the Tesmat privacy curtain?
      2) Do you have any insights on the Dreamcase? I've seen several reviews, including Bjorn's, on that and it seems expensive for what it is but also put together in a nice package.
      By the way, if Incognito Wraps does make custom window inserts, they would be matte and they are going to use a CAD plotter. They said they may put it up for others to buy, though not sure their vinyl wrapped solution will be less expensive that full reflective panels from Evannex like you have.

    • @bryanhauer
      @bryanhauer  3 года назад +1

      @@jacobl777 Yep would for sure save on hotels. I have not used the privacy curtain. It didn’t look that great in the reviews I saw. Plus, I prefer to have something perfectly for up against the window. You don’t need the suction cups at all for any of the windows except the sun roof. Watch my stealth camping video from Caesars Palace to see how they work. I think my Moab video too. I can put them all up in like 1 minute. No suction cups needed. I have the cargo box so don’t use those.
      Dreamcase looked good but seemed thin and still too big when stored if that makes sense. Also way too expensive unless price came down.
      One other to check out is Expad MegaMat Duo TXY. A viewer suggested it but I haven’t tried it yet. Hope that helps.
