The ventilation not requiring an ICE and exhaust, is a game changer. I drive LA to Vegas often and sometimes you just get super sleepy, even daytime. Plenty of crowded safe places to pull over and take a nap. Whether 115F outside or 20F … no worries, internal cabin temp stable with little battery loss.
Brother, I'm planning a trip SD to LV. I want to attend EDC Las Vegas. Plan is to rent a Model Y or X ($60-90 a night) and sleep in it to save money. (Hotels are $200 a night and I'm there for 3 nights). Can you share some places for me sleep? It would really mean a lot.
I bought a Model Y instead of a Model 3 for this exact reason. I'm always on the go, exploring new places, and camping. I've slept in the back of my Model Y multiple times. If you want to stargaze, just put your head at the back of the trunk, the rear window glass is clear and not tinted like the roof.
Slept in the front seat one night with my mom in the passenger seat (vs in the hospital emergency room) and it was the best decision we could’ve made. Great rest, super comfortable seats, and super warm inside (it was 30 degrees Fahrenheit outside). Great video!!!!! Love the visuals!!!!!!
i just did a 5,000 mi winter car camping trip through the rockies and pacific coast with my wife and my model y. 10/10 would recommend and do it again.
Bought my Tesla Y in 03/21 and it was the best decision I ever made. And slept like a baby to try my new Tesmats with my Jack Russell Terrier. He on the other hand was on dog alert the whole night trying to guard me. Thanks for sharing !
Hey, I live in Belgium. I slept in Tesla Y on this Friday night along with my 10 year old boy. It was so comfortable. Camping mode is awesome. It consumed around 1 kwh battery per hour. We had 17 deg C to start with. But it was getting cold in the night (4 deg c outside), around 2 AM i had increase the temp to 19 deg C and it was ok. We had our camping sleepbags. In the morning, he dint want to go home, so we stayed in the care for 2 more hours after we woke up :)
slept in my m3 on xmas eve, holy shit it was cold outside but man, surround sound watching netflix in the mountains cozy and 10% battery loss.. just incredible experience. with the vents on all night it feels like youre in a spaceship, wouldnt take much of the imagination to really think its a pod type craft or area
Nice video! 👍 My wife and I usually take a trip each summer, and sleep in the car. We have a Model S P85 (2014). Last summer we went to Lofoten, Norway, and slept for 10 nights in the car. Saved round $200 pr night, compared to staying at a hotel or a lodge (rorbu). Use an inflatable air mattress, queen size, and a 12v electric pump. The mattress is inflated in less than 2 minutes. Use the parcel shelf as support at the head end. Works flawlessly! 😁👍
We traveled 4700 miles in our 2018 Honda Pilot, setting it up in camping mode. We followed the wonderful directions in the video by Chris and Emilie on how to make your Honda Pilot into a wonderful camper. We traveled from New York State to Texas to Florida and back home again. It was amazing. Our kids thought we were crazy until we arrived in Texas and they tried out our incredibly comfortable bed setup. We’d love to own and camp in a Tesla someday! ~ Maria
It would be cool during camp mode if all the glass could turn black so you can have privacy when sleeping in the car, and also controllable to make the top glass clear so you can see the stars when you go to sleep. And also a 4K screen with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos when watching Netflix or others.
A glass changing literal colors/getting rid of tint would cost a lot.. I don't know the exact price,. But alot. I mean if you want to increase car prices, sure go ahead.
Cool idea, love that Tesla has a Camp Mode. Although for the few times I'd sleep in my car, I'd think it easier just to bring an inflatable sleeping pad like what I use for backpacking.
Dude, more Tesla content like this! This was awesome. Never heard of your channel before, but your style is cool so I subscribed. Expecting more good content to come :)
me and my friend were sleeping in a 2000 volkswagen caddy :D it was great until it got cold in the winter. the walls became wet and froze! it was like sleeping in a fridge. Tesla seems amazing for that! wow. impressed.
Since you made this video, StarLink has become readily available. I spent more than a month on the road with my dog, camping, and working as if I were at home. Just find a good place with good sky and place the StarLink antennae on the roof, power the router with the car and you are good to go! I pitched a tent most of the time, as one drawback of sleeping in the car is the noise from the air conditioner, but it was always nice to retreat into the car if the weather became inhospitable.
I went to Coachella 2022 and used my mothers model x for that year and just recently went to Coachella 2023 and took my model y performance and my mothers model x again, car camping is such a breeze with teslas. That’s all I can say. Everyone was waking up in their own swear due to the heat in their tents, and my fiancé and I woke up like a king & queen.
Didn't yet but you've convinced me. Hopefully if I'm ever with my wife during the delivery process again, I'm going to sleep in the Y instead of in the hospital room.
yes, because petrol vehicles have to constantly run the engine to turn on the air conditioner. In Tesla, it is enough to draw enough electricity only for the AC and fan.
@@oljobo If it was freezing cold outside though, youd probably set the temp lower, like 12 degrees celsius or so, so a medium sleeping bag would be enough.
I slept in my car before and I will do it again, although I am not a Tesla owner yet. It felt cold but it wasn’t a electric car. I plan to buy a Tesla in the next 2 or 3 years and then live in it. Most likely a Model Y - I’m not tall enough to be uncomfortable for space thankfully! It’ll give me so much freedom and I won’t have to be a victim of constantly paying rent either.
But what about cooking, clothes, washing, showering? You can't live in a car! You will go stinking and get some illness from eating fast food all the time. This is not healthy!
I got my driver's license 2 years ago, bought a 2013 Renault Clio hatch. Slept a total of 7 days in it as of now. Luckily I am only 5'9, so diagonally I fit in just barely across the back seats. With so little room it takes some time to get used to it, but on the 3rd day of continuous sleeping fell asleep like it was my regular bed and slept all night through xD. I've only camped in the summer, now looking for solutions to insulate and heat the car during winter and go for a winter camping next year, (thinking of 1 cm thick engine heatpads together with aluminium sun shades on the windows + 200w heater running on my e-scooter's 1,5 kWh Li Ion battery) cause running the engine to heat the interior is definitely a bad way. EVs are like best vehicles to have for camping cause of batteries. You don't have to worry to keep your gadgets charged, you can run a fridge or heat or cool the cabin no problem, with something like a 100 kWh of energy you can do whatever you want. Even those smaller, pioneer EVs with 20-30 kWh of energy is enough to run all the things you need. So yeah, another pro to EVs when comparing them to regular cars ;)
Amazing! Interesting to hear how the isolation goes once you‘ve tried it. Most of the heat gets lost through the windows so I believe it will make a big difference even if there’s only a little bit of isolation…
This was an informative, funny, beautiful, and even heartfelt video (with the quote at the end). I really enjoyed the filmmaking of this. Happy Holidays!
We used to do that in our airplane and set up a little tent under the wing! Taildragger Citabria 7ECA. Fly anywhere and have an adventure. Tesla’s more comfortable. Used a roll up solar panel while on the ground for small charging! Life technology improves! Cheers!
Awesome video! Im currently in the market for a model Y performance, and unfortunatly alone in this world. This inspired me to go and plan awesome roadtrips once I take delivery, just me and my car. So thank you

@@WirageVoyage Funny how the internet works sometimes, totally forgot about this! But no I haven't bought a Tesla, simply because the infrastructure isn't there. Basically where I live and want to go to on my travels isn't much support for EV's. A Friend bought a Mercedes EV and he is stuck constantly and really has to plan carefully. A few months back I walked into the Mercedes dealership with him and bumped into a ready-to-go/love-at-first-sight V6 Mercedes AMG. And me being a car enthusiast and because the ICE sportcars are a dying breed, I bought that the same day. But, your message has rekindled this adventure I wanted to go on, so thank you for reminding me. I obviously can't do that in the AMG, but I'll find a way.
Yes,! I used to backpack and camp then started to travel and camp in my Toyota RAV4. It was great. I used a single size LLBean CampRest mattress. Very comfortable. And it leaves a whole side for "stuff". When I decided to go electric Tesla was the only vehicle I considered. Specifically the Model Y (which I just got a week ago) because the cubic space is very similar to the RAV. I'm looking forward to camping and traveling in the Y and plan to use a similar set up. A plug in cooler is great by the way, no ice mess. (I am 75 year old woman , still adventuring! Didn't want the nursing home to get all my money 😁
sadly the Cybertruck wont come to europe because it is not street legal. It is too wide and oddly enough too sturdy, which is seen as a safety hazzard in case of an accident by the regulators.
I used to sort of live in my Ford Fiesta Titanium hatchback. I’m very short - only 5’1” so I was always able to be comfortable asleep in the backseat but this Tesla looks like it would be amazing to live in. Great video!!
I am interested to buy a Tesla, and sleep inside. What is the best Tesla for camping ? From big to small ? Model X - Model Y - Model S - Model 3 ? Is this correct ? Thank you for correcting me.
I did a round trip of Gaspesie (Quebec, canada) around 3000KM with my 2021 M3, sleep 2 days in my cars with my GF, really nice experience, save a lot of money instead of a hotel. really enjoy the car!
I've camped in my Model Y a few times using an air mattress. Very comfortable. Might be tight with two people but doable. Recommend buying window shades too. Don't want anyone looking in while sleeping.
Your laptop has USB-C. Not sure about the Y, but Model 3 has high power USB-C ports that you can use to charge your laptop directly, no power brick required.
i am also quite tall, i used to have, many years ago now, a discovery 3 land rover. I slept in that as the floor was perfectly flat all the way to the front seats. perfect, but my feet were just touching the end. So this tesla is incredible to fit us tall people!
In 1974 I bought a brand new Babyblue VW Rabbit. I was a newlywed and we loved my new Rabbit. We slept in the back of the Rabbit at a reststop. Quite an experience. Got up early and drove on to my parents home in Tacoma.. Special trip.
Great video, Thanks for sharing. In 1999, I drove across the US and back by myself in a BMW Z3 and was gone about a month and maybe stayed 20 nights in the car - usually in rest stops on the side of the highway. You would think it would be horrible to sleep sitting mostly upright but it actually was not that bad with a couple pillows...but then again I was around 20 at the time. My body might not be so happy with me at this age if I did it again I think.
Hello, i am thinking about buying the model y... i am 195 cm tall ( 6ft 5 ). Do you think i would be comfortable sleeping in the car like you? It looks quite ok for you, but I am not sure if those extra centimeters aren´t too much. I would hate to bump against the seat with my head.... Great video btw, really enjoyed it!
Hey Martin. If you sleep diagonal it should work. The seats move very far forward so the problem becomes more the gap in the back row legroom. What I've done in the past was that I had my head in the trunk. Then my feet would tangle over the legroom which is not bad compared if your head would be there 😅
I have been so unsure about whether to buy the 3 or the y this summer. Now after watching this video I'm totally sold on the y. Cant wait to go camping in it.
I have set up my Model 3 for sleeping on multiple occasions. It has been a great experience each time and very comfortable. Would love to travel Europe that way!
HOLY MOLÉ JOEL! Found your channel because of the Tesla videos but staying and will likely view all of them for the climbing and free running. I'm an older guy now and although I actually did some roof hopping almost forty years ago, I never had quite your skill set. Here's to you having your own Tesla soon. Happy Climbing !
600 euro for a mattress that blocks the trunk all day is a lot of money. I just sleep with a thin blanked without any mattress . i put the camp-mode settings on: 22c . save the money and have an empty tidy trunk
I just reserved a Tesla CyperTruck and I'm looking forward to overnights with all the new technology. Here's my trucks I've overnighted in. 2004 Chevy Avalanche (which has that Midgate system. Hopefully the CyperTruck has it). 2006 Ford F350 Super Duty (8 ft Bed with Canopy) 2011 Ford Expedition Limited (2nd & 3rd Rows folded down) 2020 Ford Expedition Stealth (2nd & 3rd Rows folded down) Edit: I should add my Sea Ray Sundancer too just for fun. Sleeping under the stars in a boat is a blast too. Cool video!!! Thanks!
My oldest daughter and I sleept in our Seat Leon ST in front of our house 😅 She loved it, and maybe it will be a more exciting location next time. And it would be great in a model y 😅😊
It would be good if you could buy a curtain to separate seperate the cabin area from the back like in a camper and some stick on covers for the window. I want a VW ID buzz camper but cant be bothered to wait until 2025 for the release so I think this or the cybertruck will be what I go for
I slept in a 2013 Kia Forte for 4-5 months(Sleeping during the day in Texas heat was tough/scary) Im 6.1 ft tall and the back seats fold down to accommodate ..my only complaint was the folded down seat area was not level with the trunk space, so if you didn't put down extra padding you would wake up with really bad back pain
Ater a Catergory 5 Huracaine I sleept on my car Toyota corrolla 2001 for 2 months. The first week was hard AF. I wish I had a tesla back then and solar electricity, we did not have power for like 8months.
I have slept in my model 3 a number of times and leave my dog in it daily using "dog mode" which holds a temperature for the dog and tells people on the screen that my dog is safe. The abundance of little features like this that are being built up over time since the car is updated every two weeks or so is incredible. I have never had a car that the manufacture cared more about than this one. It is like they want you to be happy and go out of their way to make the experience incredible for being part of the community. ;
sleeping in the car is getting trending more and more Road Trips and sleep in the car is the best like VanLife, you can mostly park anywhere safe and just CarCamping
Well that's why you don't do this if the battery is nearly dead. Just like you wouldn't if your car was almost out of gas lol Same logic. But the car actually won't let you do this anyways if you have less than 20% remaining... so.....
First of all, if your battery’s bout to die why would you go out into the middle of nowhere ? Also the gps makes it so that won’t happen and changes your course to make sure you pass thru a place with a charger. Idk that much about cars but this is just common sense
Dreamcase beds are quite expensive and they dont use all the space. I found a mattress that is made for the shape of the model Y and uses ALL the space inside. It is so much better. Just a random thought
have car camped my whole life. super easy. currenlty have a 2015 jeep grand cherokee and have been camping in it since 2017. Even in the middle of winter in upper new england. love it. but this is a whole other level of impressive.
3 months in romania in late fall early winter, in a 2018 skoda octavia, was cozy. Had 3 dogs and a cat with, for our heating system, pluss all our camping gear that we needed for cooking, food storage and extra stuff.
One thing Tesla forgot to add is an internal trunk release button. When camping, I have to open mine with my smartphone or reach in front and use the main display.
Very nice, just not sure about using the 12v that way. Because that is not recharged from the big battery whereas the USB ports are. So you risk drain8ng your 12v batterie which is not such a good idea 🤷♂️
I slept in my friends car for some nights during our Norway Roadtrip - it was so cool to just have everything in your car. However we faced the same problems as you we ended up rolling the windows down a bit and putting a tarpaulin over the openings (as it was rainy often). It was good but you can probably tell how excited I am to have found out about this feature of Tesla - it really gets me intrigued by the though of owning one in the not too distant future - would love to see some review of you on the new model 3 whether e.g. you can now see the stars or I heard its even more energy efficient on the camping mode. But haven't seen any videos there covering this yet
Idk what it takes, I WILL get my own tesla on my hands. Even when everyone keeps telling me its impossible cause they're not cheap, I dont care I will work hard and get the money before I hit my 30's (Im 20 now)

I often sleep in the Model Y during the heat of the summer. So refreshing.
Camp Mode for the win :)
Hello, sleeping kit? Where can I buy? Name of manufacturer? Can you please provide me information? 🙏😊
Have a look in the description of the video 😉
4:30 almost true. As you plug into 12V plug to charge your laptop, it will drain your 12V battery not the high voltage battery. So be careful!
i am also quite tall, i used to have, many years ago now, a discovery 3 land rover. I slept in that as the floor was perfectly flat all the way to the front seats. perfect, but my feet were just touching the end. So this tesla is incredible to fit us tall people!
Nice video! I got a Model Y last month and am absolutely going to sleep in it at some point. Subscribed to your channel.
I am picking up my Model Y next Monday and will be sleeping in it by the weekend! 😁
i love your channel! i just discovered it today and i love the style of them!! the humor, information, and beautiful scenery! keep it up :)
In 1974 I bought a brand new Babyblue VW Rabbit. I was a newlywed and we loved my new Rabbit. We slept in the back of the Rabbit at a reststop. Quite an experience. Got up early and drove on to my parents home in Tacoma.. Special trip.
Regularly sleeps in my TM3 2019 when touring with the band. I really think it is so comfortable
This is such an AWESOME video!! I wasn't considering a Model Y until now. Thank you so MUCH for sharing this thorough review!!!
Then my feet would tangle over the legroom which is not bad compared if your head would be there 😅
Most underrated RUclipsr
I have been so unsure about whether to buy the 3 or the y this summer. Now after watching this video I'm totally sold on the y. Cant wait to go camping in it.
The next morning you would have anxiety if you have enough Elec to power your Wheels to the nearest Chargers...?:(
I have set up my Model 3 for sleeping on multiple occasions.
I have slept many nights in my 2018 Hyundai Elantra....the worst. I have a model y on order should be here this month. Can't wait to sleep in it!
Can you share more info on the 12v to 230 volt adapter you showed? Where can one buy it?
We have a Model Y on order and man, we can’t wait to get it!!
U crack me up when u were gonna watch a tesla movie in a tesla. Brilliant! Thx for sharing.
MOdel Y doesn't have auto close Doors right?
600 euro for a mattress that blocks the trunk all day is a lot of money. I just sleep with a thin blanked without any mattress . i put the camp-mode settings on: 22c . save the money and have an empty tidy trunk
If you sleep comfortable like this, that's great 🙌🏻
Great energy! I will sleep in my driveway tonight. And I will make my bed. I want to change the world.
I just reserved a Tesla CyperTruck and I'm looking forward to overnights with all the new technology.
Here's my trucks I've overnighted in.
2004 Chevy Avalanche (which has that Midgate system. Hopefully the CyperTruck has it).
2006 Ford F350 Super Duty (8 ft Bed with Canopy)
2011 Ford Expedition Limited (2nd & 3rd Rows folded down)
2020 Ford Expedition Stealth (2nd & 3rd Rows folded down)
Edit: I should add my Sea Ray Sundancer too just for fun. Sleeping under the stars in a boat is a blast too.
Cool video!!! Thanks!
Wow your channel is so under rated your going to have lots of subscribers one day!
Nice video! Do you think two people could sleep comfortably or is the space too small?
In 1970's I slept in my 1956 VW Beetle with rear seat folded forward, and of course the engine was not running, which is why I'm still alive.
This was awesome! I’ve been thinking about doing it and you’ve really inspired me with this video.
My whole family (my wife, me, my two boys) slept in model Y, it's great experience. Much better than sleeping in our odyssey mini van.
How were you all positioned?
@@owascoshaw you don’t want to know
@@Spdracer I figured as much 🤦🏾♂️
@@owascoshaw my elder son slept in front seat, others slept in back
@@Spdracer😅
My oldest daughter and I sleept in our Seat Leon ST in front of our house 😅 She loved it, and maybe it will be a more exciting location next time. And it would be great in a model y 😅😊
So cool! The Seat Leon ST is a great car for this! I have a VW Passat and it's always so excited to sleep in it :)
I just want to know what lights you used to hang.
Such a great video! We just got our model Y - can't wait to camp
Nice! Have fun then :)
Is that dream case sell in United States?
It would be good if you could buy a curtain to separate seperate the cabin area from the back like in a camper and some stick on covers for the window. I want a VW ID buzz camper but cant be bothered to wait until 2025 for the release so I think this or the cybertruck will be what I go for
in your opinion what is the best tesla model thats big enough to fit a family of 4 and yet looks really cool
And what happens if your car runs out of battery? EV car charger spots aren't available everywhere
I slept in my model y. Couldn’t get the seat separation with the pillow right but it was cool. The camp mode is key
I did not even think about it, so cool
I’d love to know if the Tesla can make coffee … most coffee makers take 1000 watts…is there a place to plug one in?
Ater a Catergory 5 Huracaine I sleept on my car Toyota corrolla 2001 for 2 months. The first week was hard AF. I wish I had a tesla back then and solar electricity, we did not have power for like 8months.
cool. Except its not possible to put a roof rack for more stuff if your actually camping. Trailer hitch?
top 10 youtube videos of all time
Where would you find a super charger in the middle of nowhere?
I have slept in my model 3 a number of times and leave my dog in it daily using "dog mode" which holds a temperature for the dog and tells people on the screen that my dog is safe. The abundance of little features like this that are being built up over time since the car is updated every two weeks or so is incredible. I have never had a car that the manufacture cared more about than this one. It is like they want you to be happy and go out of their way to make the experience incredible for being part of the community. ;
The thumbnail was pretty good usually you don’t need candles to get a Tesla to catch fire
sleeping in the car is getting trending more and more
Road Trips and sleep in the car is the best like VanLife,
you can mostly park anywhere safe and just CarCamping
I have send this video to my son, he has a Tesla Y also, usefull this summer, tnx
Amazing :)
I want to go camping with it but the problem is where do I put all my stuff thats normally in the trunk 😥
In the frunk, subtrunk and front of the car. You can also put a box on top of the car.
So what would you do if you ran out of battery in the middle of know where like this lol ?
WOW, amazing and honest review, THANK YOU!
Thank you!
have car camped my whole life. super easy. currenlty have a 2015 jeep grand cherokee and have been camping in it since 2017. Even in the middle of winter in upper new england. love it. but this is a whole other level of impressive.
That's amazing!! :)
Thanks for your video. I'm very impressed with model Y review , Im gonna buy it!!
Bro, inspiring content! Where did you get the converter from USB C to usual Plug? Please share a link towards that :)
Won't any Jackery type power device do that? Course not small as what he had.
ykno...people say that the wind turbines ruin the view of farmland etc. ...I think they enhance the look. i really like them,
If you sleep outside a hotel do they bother you?
Very nice, just not sure about using the 12v that way. Because that is not recharged from the big battery whereas the USB ports are. So you risk drain8ng your 12v batterie which is not such a good idea 🤷♂️
This man NEED'S 1 million subs
