I recently saw a video in which the referral code was honored even after the apparent cut-off. I'd much appreciate an updated video on this and other must-do items. Cheers.
If you have a lithium iron battery pack, charging to 100 percent in your model 3 standard range is perfectly fine. Elon musk confirmed it on his Twitter.
Did you purchase your Tesla Y or lease it? Reason being, I'm leasing my Model S which is due in a few weeks, and I can't see spending $2K for a full frontal PPF rap if I'm returning after the lease. Thanks!
Matt if you aren't in a rush to get your Y would this be a good time to sit on your hands and let the new batteries and other upgrades coming with the opening of the new giga factories?
The problem is that we don't know when the new 4680 batteries will roll out. Some are speculating that Tesla will just have less battery cells in the vehicles but still have the same range that we have. I thought about holding off on my Model Y for the new 4680's but it's a good thing I didn't. In my opinion, just buy the Tesla now and enjoy it
If you decide to wait for what seems right around the corner you will wait forever. I wanted to wait for the 4680s for my Model X initially. I've had the car for almost a year and a half now. The 4680s still aren't even an option to preorder in the X and the option to get them in the S was pulled down from the configurator. I suspect they won't be widely available for another 9 months to a year. So I would have missed out on ownership for 2+ years for the sake of getting batteries that will make the car noticeably better maybe 4-6 days out of the year when I'm on long roadtrips. I'd advise taking the plunge.

The cost to fix Tesla's have been declining over the years as Tesla gets bigger and is able to be fully established. I think Elon said the batteries are "million mile batteries." @@MattDanadel High and thanks for your answer. It's going to be a while before the Cybertruck comes out and is mass produced. Give the Model Y and Model X a test drive and see which you like better. See which fits your needs better and how much space you need and what your budget is
Ok, I'll give it a shot and see which is better. Although it'll be nice to have a Model X with the 7 seat option unless I'm getting the model X & S mixed up.
Mine was March 2022 when I ordered Sept 23rd, so doesn't surprise me it would be out to April in October. The Y, especially, is popular and keeping up with building them but stressing on quality, takes time. This though does tell me that the impatient will be more likely to by a 2-3 yr old Tesla in good shape at a premium used car price.
@@benjiebarker I don't think payments can happen until you get the VIN number, but I don't know how some of the payment options work either as I am buying outright. From what I understand close to delivery day one should get the VIN added, then payment and of course insurance - which is mandatory in most US states.
@@benjiebarker I'd prefer the CyberTruck too. Here is what I am personally doing. The cyber truck is out for 2, maybe even 3 years at this writing. I need a better car soon, but wanted the truck. I am instead getting a Y with a few months wait instead. After the truck comes out, I'll sell the Y probably for very close to what I bought it for used (people buying used don't have to wait, so I figure one can price higher than most other used cars). Then by the truck. We'll see if this pans out. If you are leasing maybe you can make similar arrangements where the lease runs out before the truck is released. If you call a Tesla dealer they may give you some additional and maybe better options. Good luck!

Hey Matt, I’m new here, nice video. I have a question. Do you think a new driver should get his first car to be a Tesla? I want to buy a Tesla cause it’s my dream car and don’t want to get a used car due to in couple years we are going to transition to evs. What are your thoughts?
Well do not buy a used Tesla. They dont allow independent shops to replace the batteries and tesla will only warranty a used one for 1 year. I mean if you have another 26k for a nee battery pack then just buy a new one. Best idea is to lease them and trade them in. Dont have to worry about battery degradation or anything being out of warranty.
Great video, one question though. In what way didn't the thumbdrive hold up for sentry mode and dashcam? Wouldn't it get the video just as an SSD? I understand the benefits you listed with SSD, but i don't see why you would need anything more than the thumbdrive...

Would 100% loved to have used your referral code. Such a goofy decision to do away with it.
The charging to less than 100% is now not entirely accurate. The newer Tesla's that use LFP batteries are OK to charge to 100 and you can do this any time you want. Those models with this even have the "daily" and "trip" indicator points removed from the charging screen.
I ordered my Y in June. Have a delivery date Oct 21 to Nov 10. Just had a 14-50 outlet installed in my garage. I have my floor mats and installed a hanger for the charging cable. I liked your video but can you speak a little slower. It seems you are racing to get it done. I'm trying to decide if I really need the coatings done. Thank you for providing the video. I'll watch it again to catch what I didn't the first time..
It really depends how old you are/if you're under someone else's policy and your driving history. But generally speaking, the insurance cost isn't as high as what you're probably thinking it is
I went from a 2011 VW Jetta 2.5 SL and a 2013 Audi A4 2.0T to a 2018 Tesla Model X 100D and a 2020 Tesla Model X Performance and my insurance went down by $100/year. I shopped around insurance and that made a way bigger impact on the cost of the car than shopping around financing. If we'd stayed with our original insurance provider the rate was going to be $3500/year for the Teslas. We ended up paying $760/year with a different provider.

Link is only for solar now?
Yes
I wanna get a Tesla but also wanna wait for the Cyber Truck. Any suggestions? LMK please.
I'm also wanting to get a Model Y or a model X as well but don't know which one to get. Can someone please help me and give me a suggestion?
It's going to be a while before the Cybertruck comes out and is mass produced. Give the Model Y and Model X a test drive and see which you like better. See which fits your needs better and how much space you need and what your budget is
Ok, I'll give it a shot and see which is better. Although it'll be nice to have a Model X with the 7 seat option unless I'm getting the model X & S mixed up.
Can you open the sunroof?
Thanks.
No, it's a glass roof
Good job Matt! Keep up the good work! Just subbed! 👍🏽
Thank you, stay tuned for more videos!
I know a company who sells good quality accessories for tesla 🤩😁 it also in a great price 👌
Thanks, helpful.
If i don’t get credit approval for lease does tesla keep the $250?
Also, why is estimated delivery in April 2022?
Mine was March 2022 when I ordered Sept 23rd, so doesn't surprise me it would be out to April in October. The Y, especially, is popular and keeping up with building them but stressing on quality, takes time. This though does tell me that the impatient will be more likely to by a 2-3 yr old Tesla in good shape at a premium used car price.
@@rob99201 so do you start making payments before the Model Y is delivered?
@@benjiebarker I don't think payments can happen until you get the VIN number, but I don't know how some of the payment options work either as I am buying outright. From what I understand close to delivery day one should get the VIN added, then payment and of course insurance - which is mandatory in most US states.
@@rob99201 okay, i'm planning to lease. maybe i will start an order. I really want one. I can wait for April or should I wait for the cyber truck?
Good luck!
Tesla recommendations are 90/10 now, not 80/20
Im keeping my tesla not trading it
3 or Y?
Y
So no 1000 free supercharger miles.
Called Tesla yesterday and they said the referral program was discontinued September 30 2021. 😟
Correct. This video was made before that
You mentioned charging the battery to 80%. On the site, it says 90%. Is that preference to 80%.
On your next video can you discuss the financing options.
Please KEEP YOUR HANDS ON THE WHEEL. Thank you.
What kind of floor/trunk mats are those!?
It's the Homeland Hardware Tesla Model Y floor mats: amzn.to/3tQWETJ
It's currently out of stock though
Where is link for 1,000 free super charging miles? I only see link for solar roof referral
Tesla unfortunately did away with the 1,000 miles of free supercharging this past September & this video was posted before that. Tesla only has the referral link for solar products rn
I know that I can't afford a tesla right now but still watching this video.😅😅😅
O gawd, someone close to me got one...hopefully he can keep up with all the stuff he has to do...I don't care
They don’t do free super charging anymore:(
Yeah, Tesal did away with the 1,000 free supercharging miles the 18th of Sept. unfortunately
Good Job👍👍👍
Thank you
Your referral link is for solar. Do you have one for a Tesla?
Hey so Tesla unfortunately did away with the 1,000 miles of free supercharging on September 18th. This video was posted before that
Hey Matt, I’m new here, nice video.
Don't think they are still giving the referral bonus
Tesla unfortunately did away with the 1,000 miles of free supercharging this past September & this video was posted before that. Tesla only has the referral link for solar products rn
@@MattDanadel I ordered mine the end of September and was told they no longer have referral program and that it was illegal on Ohio, anyway (?)
Yeah 1,000 mile referral bonus ended in the middle of Sept. And Ohio and Virginia were not eligible for some reason
No more referral codes... Ugh...
How many people can use ur referral code
Unfortunately, Tesla got rid of the referral program back in Sept. '21.
You are excellent...
Thank you!
Seeing those waiting times on getting a Model 3 is stopping me from ordering one 😂 6 months is a long time
Might wanna get a jump on it before they keep getting pushed back even more lol
Isn’t the free supercharger miles referral program gone?
Correct. Tesla unfortunately did away with the 1,000 miles of free supercharging on September 18th & this video was posted before that. Tesla only has the referral link for solar products rn
@@MattDanadel That really stinks. Like you smartly suggested in this video, I already smartly ordered my wall connector yesterday and it’s going to be delivered Saturday. Hopefully I get the electrician out tomorrow or Tuesday for installation estimates and once all that is done I’m ordering my deep blue metallic M3 Performance.
When your dad is an electrician 😜
I ordered my Y in June. Have a delivery date Oct 21 to Nov 10. Just had a 14-50 outlet installed in my garage. I have my floor mats and installed a hanger for the charging cable. I liked your video but can you speak a little slower. It seems you are racing to get it done. I'm trying to decide if I really need the coatings done. Thank you for providing the video. I'll watch it again to catch what I didn't the first time..
Congrats on your Model Y! And thank you for the feedback. I'll speak slower in my future videos 👍
03:15 Is there no inbuilt internet?
All Tesla's do have LTE, but in order to download a software update, you would need to be connected to Wi-Fi
Yes
would love one, but I hear the insurance is rather expensive
It really depends how old you are/if you're under someone else's policy and your driving history. But generally speaking, the insurance cost isn't as high as what you're probably thinking it is
Going from a nissan altima 2011 to a 2021 model 3 it went down 50$
I went from a 2011 VW Jetta 2.5 SL and a 2013 Audi A4 2.0T to a 2018 Tesla Model X 100D and a 2020 Tesla Model X Performance and my insurance went down by $100/year.
I shopped around insurance and that made a way bigger impact on the cost of the car than shopping around financing. If we'd stayed with our original insurance provider the rate was going to be $3500/year for the Teslas. We ended up paying $760/year with a different provider.
