Witness our most recent lightsaber choreography compilation, more intense, more sofisticated, faster than ever before! True to the original source of inspiration, the Prequel Trilogy, but with a much more diverse set of moves and patterns accumulated during our almost 17 year long training history.
School of Saberfighting is one of the first teams in the world that specialises in public performance of duels inspired by Star Wars, and also provides training for those who wish to learn this form of stage fencing.
Many of our trainees have won the highest stage fencing athletic titles in various Russian championships, and acted in fencing combat scenes in theatre and films. They also collaborated with a Combat Choreographer from Hollywood, and performed during the World Fencing Championship 2015.

The recent movies were trying to copy the more weighty and impactful lightsaber battles of the OT. Where it was less about the fancy swordplay and more about the characters and the emotions.
I'm one of those people that didn't really care for the prequel's lightsaber fights. I found them boring because I didn't care about the characters and the fights went on way to long. I genuinely skipped most of Anakin and Obi Wans fight because I just got tired of it.

@@TY-km8hj Oh I totally agree. The only one I liked was at the end of Force Awakens. Sure, it's total bullcrap that Rey won, because I cared about what was going on with the characters. Han had just died and everyone was angry and desperate and they were fighting for their lives. That's more interesting to me than the prequel fights, at least.
It's also the only compliment I'll give the lightsaber fights in the Disney sequels. The rest really sucked.
When Star Wars theory said he is looking for athletic guys knowing their way around a lightsaber for his Vader episode 2, he meant you guys!!!

unsarcastically, thank you for the explanation, cause lightsaber combat always looked oddly clunky to me, in general, this looks partially unnecessary still but at least it looks feasible as combat, btw, by unnecessary, I mean it's a lot of flourishes, which you'd really only do in real combat to show off or intimidate your opponent

Alot of these moves could actually be used in real combat. So we know whos gonna get the first lightsabers when they are invented
Actually I thought that it looked like it was aimed for the other lightsaber, especially at 4:23 when the one guy who was just getting up could have easily gotten the other people but he went for their sabers instead. It was a really cool looking fight though.

Near the end of the basketball court mat was less used then the rest of the court, the reason I know this is because it is about a milometer higher than the rest of the area, so, whoever stood on that end of the court would undoubtedly win.

No, Star Wars fights should be like the ones at the end of Return of the Jedi. A fight with less fancy sword swinging and more emotional depth and story resonance. I couldn't care less about the silly flashing glow sticks, I just want to care about whats going on with the characters during the fight.
That 5 minute video was better than the entire sequel trilogy.

@@notgray88 that's what I've been saying about the over the top mess of prequel saber scenes, along with the sequel saber crap. They should have shot the scenes then played it in fast forward, compensating the unnatural bits with editing, reverse of what Hong Kong/Bruce Lee/Chuck Norris martial art movies do. Instead, I saw unbelievably long pauses that should not have happened, maul when obi wan jumped back up, Anakin when HE got blade locked, Dooku when he got blade locked, those scenes, literally, when u play them back at 0.25, is excrutiating, compared to the fight with maul or the beginning of Anakin versus Obi Wan (that fucking saber spin retardation, I hate how it just ruined the pacing of the fight).
@@MithrilSludge6541 I do agree that the prequel fights are over the top, and not at all realistic, but the choreography required for scenes like Obi-wan vs. Anakin require a ton of practice and are super fun to watch in my opinion. The Darth Maul fight is my favorite in the entire series. I've tried learning some of the saber spins they do in the prequels and it's really hard to emulate their movements so smoothly.

That would be awesome. If StarKiller was still cannon, but unfortunately he's not. But Darth Revan is canon now, so maybe if we get a Darth Revan movie. We'll see some actually impressive saber fighting.

Honestly you guys worked hard for it; Every flourish and strike have real power and intent behind them. Not just sweet tricks but practical application. I really wish I could train with you all. I'll just have to slow-motion train in the dirt at home! ^-^ 100% Maximum effort. Thanks for the upload.

Nah, lightsaber fights should be more like Vader vs Obi Wan in A New Hope. That one and Luke vs Vader in Empire Strikes back are by far the two best fights in the series.

Ни один бой из новой трилогии ты сейчас вспомнить не сможешь, зато из остальных какие-то элементы или приемы - запросто. Даже как Рэй ранила Кайло Рена я не могу вспомнить, а этот момент должен был быть значимым и запомниться.

It seems the spinning is a technique they use to overload their opponents visually & physically making it you focus too hard on their strike, while also driving the focusee backwards.
Without the force these dudes might be Anakin in a lightsaber duel lol.
Well, it's quite true. By spinning you make yourself difficult to predict from which side you are going to strike. It is as well a sort of warning move for the opponent not to come too close to you, otherwise he/she will get hit by the spinning saber.
Mikle Yep exactly and unconsciously you might move backwards if you’re not in control or a confident position.
It also keeps momentum! If were talking about canon sabers, theres no weight to the blade, so it's harder to put real momentum into a swing from an unmoving position, along with everything you said about being harder to predict
