This is the best lightsaber form for realism, as it is all based off of real footwork and guards/parries in fencing and HEMA. You guys did an amazing job, great work!
Thanks to Sir Christopher Lee for creating a whole style of fencing in Star Wars, and thanks to him for insisting on making a curved handle - it turned out to be really the most beautiful and elegant! And also thank him for giving us Count Dooku, giving him charisma, significance and, most importantly, a soul.
I love the dynamic techniques of the Prequel Trilogy Lightsaber Combat. Definitely see elements of Spanish and French Fencing along with Filipino Kali techniques. DEFINITELY my favorite of the styles. Well done, guys!
ive been looking forward to- dang you beat me too it. A suprise to be sure but a welcome one HAHAHA no one can out prequel the hutt *laughs in huttnese* great vid guys, can you do juyo next for um... non sith lord related reasons ty!
Being offensive and because I own the curved lightsaber. This is the perfect form for me.I have mastered this to the Ful list of the point where I don't even have to move much muscles.Just account for somebody and strike them.I can literally do this till I'm old.I can see why christopher lee was able to keep fencing all the way until he was in his eighties
Hello there. I occasionally practice sword techniques and I'm more comfortable with one-handed sword combat at the moment. Thanks for making this tutorial quick and simple.
How would you feel about adding lunging attacks into your choreography? Seeing as this whole stance was based on actual European fencing techniques, I think they would fit in fairly well. Plus with force powers and clever video editing, some really cool exchanges could be set up with lunges.
HEY!!! I remember mentioning this to you guys a while ago and here it is!! Thankyou dude!! Also dude, I'd love to see if you could do a video explaining vaapad in some form, either way you guys are the best
It seems I practiced Makashi without knowing what it was, I just practiced minimal, simplistic however elegant blade work that didn’t focus much on brute force.
You said the first, does it mean is going to be a part 2? Also will you be doing this for every form of lightsaber combat? That would be cool. Video was good as always
@@Mikestarwalker yes I hope it reaches, I would look forward to seeing those as well, and maybe a reverse grip tutorial as well, keep teh amazing work, and may the force be with you
i wish i could afford one of those sabers that a durable enough to fight with, i have this darth vader one but the plastic is not strong enough the tip is already broken. got it when ep 1 came out.... for some reason they released all the classic sabers too haha. great vis keep up the good work.
@Mikestarwalker Do you have a video on the Techniques Anakin used during the Episode 2-3 era? Also, I am going to write my versions of Star Wars Capture The Flag. Not sure if you have played Capture The Flag before but it is fun. We have done a basic Star Wars Capture the Flag in my family before you should try it. I will keep you updated May The Force Be With You
So been following and watching your videos for the past couple months and loving the content and I have a bad wrist but by doing your tutorials my wrist has been getting stronger but curious when we can see more of your style tutorials im a big fan of Soresu
Note to self: in basic stance just hold with both hands for stronger attacks and more solid defense well using the precise swing strikes and THRUSTS. As you block and move oponits blade when opening strike to cripple your enemy
I got my saber in the mail the other day I've been just watching your videos like crazy learning some new things with the saber but thing of it reminds me of kendo the way of Japanese sword fighting. The way the Jedi did there saber tricks. Even the Sith as well they all indeed looked like they had Kendo and maybe some ninjitsue training.
Count Dooku is my favorite character of all Star Wars and now that o have enough age to play with a colored stretchable plastic stick without falling off my hand I can finally learn Dooku’s elengant form of lightsaber combat: Makashi or also known as form 2.
Question; at 3:39 you guys do this huge arcing overhead 'parry'. Wouldnt that just leave you open to being quickly gutted across the ribs from the other side? Especially the very open, awkward stance you assume after the parry; bent over, sword way out to the side.
Form II: the form was invented to defeat other opponents with lightsabers, henceforth its common to salute the opponent before engaging in a duel. The key is doing as much as possible whilst moving as little as possible. This form is best summarized by count dooku (as we all know)!
Dude your video tutorial are really worth to watch i just practice makashi move and it works just i still need to improve my speed attack a little bit more
Dooku was a baller. He took on two of the Jedi Order's best in Anakin and Obi-Wan multiple times. Took on Yoda and was the Master of Qui-Gon Jinn. Possibly one of the top 5 Jedi ever before his fall to the Darkside. He saw the writing on the wall with the corruption of the Jedi and how they became weak and arrogant. Dooku was a gentleman, refined, eloquent, a political idealist, a servant of the Force not the corrupt Senate and their petty politics.
Important question does this apply for Dual wield or can you use all forms dual wielded I’m making my own pvc Lightsabers and planning to make later make Splitable Cal Kestis saber out of PVC
Very nice. I'm a big fan of the Makashi form. The issue I tend to have is I fing longer blades hard to control 1-handed. Any tips on drills to improve that, or equipment choices to facilitate it?
A typical European saber had a blade of 32 inches or less, and a crossguard to help balance the weight. In addition to being thinner than most light sabers, which helps with grip. You need to build forearm strength. How do we do this? Moulenets. Schola gladitoria has some old videos that give good examples. You need to build up the wrists and forearms. If I remember or am reminded I'll link them.
I was honestly wondering if you've made a dedicated Jar'kai lightsaber combat video yet? If so, may I have the link and if not could this be something in the future?
The best thing about it is that you can swing it around like crazy (don't do this in actual fencing, they will just parry riposte, speaking of which, why do we never parry riposte in star wars fights???)
remember, this form was made just because Sir Cristopher Lee was proficient in Fencing and thought it was a good idea to implement it in his character
Elegant is as elegant do.
I love Makashi, so elegant and easy to learn.
Easy to learn, hard to master, deadly to your opponents
He would make a good young dooku too

i feel makashi is a beautiful form for choreographing, its elegant and graceful, yet deadly accurate

Way better than The Sequel Trilogy.
So ancient, elegant and simple ❤
YUS SABRE FENCING IN SABER FIGHTING. WHAT WEVE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR

I do somthig similar but whit djem so, i thik thats the natural form of duelung of someone depending of his behavior
My form 2 I had to develop to suit my left hand style but it still maintains the stances ive seen here so its pretty familiar
Same
It's literally a mirror. Your cut 2 is his cut 3, his tierce guard is your quatre
An elegant style for a more civilized duelist
a style so chill, you could even take on 3 assailants in your PJs while moderately sedated 😵💫

Hello, I would like to ask, where to learn more advanced choreography, like you? Thanks for helping.
Count Dooku used a curved hilt in the movies. Would that actually be beneficial when using this technique?
That's the lore reason he did it. The IRL reason is because Sir Christopher Lee wanted it like that.
