Bigger, better, FASTER!
School of Saberfighting is one of the first teams in the world that specialises in public performance of duels inspired by Star Wars, and also provides training for those who wish to learn this form of stage fencing.
Many of our trainees have won the highest stage fencing athletic titles in various Russian championships, and acted in fencing combat scenes in theatre and films. They also collaborated with a Combat Choreographer from Hollywood, and performed during the World Fencing Championship 2015.

That's supposed to be how fast the APPRENTICES fought at... At least, in the books because according to the books, when masters fought, the movements were too quick to be followed. Sometimes they were so fast that their lightsaber just looked like a wall of colors in between them

Well, fanboys are males who dedicate a lot of their time in the one aspect they truly love. In this case, saber fighting. Movie actors are essentially mannequins who get paid to do or say whatever they're told. They're like souless husks who have no vested interest in the series once the money stops flowing. The fans are the ones who keep star wars alive.
These days, however, some just want star wars to end because of how badly it's been butchered. Just give it a mercy kill. End it's suffering.
@@andreydikit652 when Lucas wanted a lightsaber duelist you know what he did? He hired a stunt actor and had him train the actors and fight in the movie. Yeah, the actors were still actors. It would have been better with 3 stunt trained actors instead of 1. But they sure as hell didn't make anyone have to pull an attack in the final edit, and Ewan McGregor did an amazing job for the time he was given.

I'm not thanking them because of this, we never saw any Jedi training scenes like this I mean we saw the younglings standing very close to each other with the probes that Han Solo had in A New Hope but, it would have been cool seeing Jedi training in lightsaber combat.
Destroyer Animations we got to see more advanced apprentices training and learning from their masters too. Not quite like this though XD

These are the guys who do the real fight scenes in the the movies. They should just make this into a sport didn’t realize how much effort there really is going into this training. May the force be with you!

Sadly not, this is just as if you watch 2 sumo amateurs bashing each other and to compare a fight like Obiwan and Luke is a choreaographed dance, this is just move after move and even worse more and more whats bad about Star Wars fights, the endles "waving" around, would be great if it has a rhythm or at leas tsome memorable slower parts, this is as I said just alot of skilled waving and cirling around, which makes it in the end boring, no pseudo epic music helps over this fact

The fight in the Last jedi was badass. You can't expect kylo and rey to be as good as darth maul or obiwan. They had like a lifetime to learn how to fight

@@GhostSamaritan Actually the Praetorian Guards did have a lot of training. Kylo Ren and the other Jedi (forgot her name) were actually almost killed. If it wasn't for the plot they probably could have died.

Could be wrong but pretty sure the whole choreography in this video was from the fight between Obi-Wan and Anakin in Episode III
The actors are worse because they aren't trained Russian athletes at the top of their sport, which is what these guys are.

I don't get why people don't see that "lightsaber combat" was never meant to be portrayed as a practical method of swordsmanship. It's stageplay and entertainment. Of course the twirling and spinning is excessive and unnessecary. It's meant to just capture your attention and put on a show. These guys excelled in that. If you don't like it and want to see actual swordsmanship then there's programs like HEMA or Kendo that might interest you instead. Just stop complaining that this form of entertainment isn't what you want to see.
But all the spinning looks bad anyway...
@@kettufox4915 That's a completely different argument than what I was talking about. If that's the case, though, then all you need to do is just not watch it. Don't be the kind of person to go to something you don't appreciate just to bring down the mood for people who are fans of it.
I compared it to dancing. It’s that good.
Nerd fans take the source material seriously, even if the producers of future content down doesn't. A lightsaber has far more technicality and nuance than all that damn twirling and prancing. Lightsaber duelists (in the story lol) are trained in a variety of sword and weapon styles that were modeled after or based on rl martial arts. The weightless blade alters the physics and momentum built up and using the Force to guide them would naturally lead to unorthodox and seemingly unnecessary movements in the moment.
@@hegodamask8050 yeah, the choreography in the movies works for me, not including the recent mishaps from the movies, but this really got on my nerves somehow, cant really explain.

Some of the best places to purchase a stunt saber like that (in my personal opinion after my own research) are:
- Sabertrio (based in Malasya, slightly high price and longer shipping times, but stellar quality and amazing craftsmanship; built to last)
- Ultrasabers (cheaper than Sabertrio both in price and quality. Will still get the job done, but not as reliably tough, especially if you get one with a soundfont. Based in Texas, so shorter shipping times if they're not backed up).
- Pachstore (Cheapest option as far as price; not personally sure just how high/low quality their sabers are, but you can get a decent stunt saber for $40-50 on their site, when not sold out.)
I personally purchased from Ultrasabers due to both budget constraints and payment method issues. Sabertrio stunt sabers without a lot of bells & whistles start at somewhere around $170, with shipping. Ultrasabers at the same level of complexity of the saber is somewhere around $100 with shipping. Pachstore is anywhere between $40 and $90 plus shipping, depending on the quality of your stunt saber.

I think the saber fights of the prequels are a bit more representative of the time. It’s 30 years after the Empire fell and not a lot of people are trained in Lightsaber Fueling after Luke’s Temple fell. I think that’s why it feels so uncontrolled and unprofessional.

People misunderstood the fact these take place after the originals not the prequels. Kylos style of using the lightsaber is hit his opponents hard to get them off balance then deliver the killing blow. Rey taught herself on the island most of them offscreen and taught by Leia so makes sense that her experience of lightsaber has increased. Plus the bow staff and sword were used differently but they're some similar techniques while practicing.
Plus we only saw Luke using his lightsaber on a droid which is good to block blaster fire but facing someone with a lightsaber its completely different. We haven't even seen him using the lightsaber on dagobah only in the cave when Vader popped out. Our guess is that he trained using his lightsaber offscreen like rey.

Ignorant like editing out a knife that could have killed the main protagonist or in the beginning where Kylo stabs the floor and a guard attacks his weapon when there’s a wide open shot to his head? There are so many things wrong with their fight scenes and that one in particular if you slow it down. The faster paced fights like this and in the Prequel Trilogy are more appealing to watch and are more creative. The acrobatics included in the duels make it so much better as compared to just hacking and slashing at one another.

Becuase i see people in the comments comparing::Saber fighting is not sword fighting. Similar maybe but different. Touch a lightsaber to you and you either die or get a limb removed. Touch yourself with a sword and nothing will really happen. I have a sword. I can touch my arm and it won't get cut. Swords have edges(most of them) light sabers have no edges. Just plasma. You need to be more careful and dexterous with a lightsaber because lightsabers are more lethal than swords.
