This exchange of looks between Locke and Sawyer is so intense ... They are both like brothers of suffering delivered from the one who destroyed their lives.
Indeed. Sometimes I forget about this deep connection they had. And it makes me understand more in season 6 why Sawyer did not believe Smokey to be the real Locke. He really was always so afraid. He had strengths, but deep down Locke was a scared little soul.
Locke and Sawyer's expressions to one another at 6:11 are so moving; it's one of the few times that our main characters actually really connected over a shared trauma/pain from their past. Most of the story, all the characters overcome each of their own troubled pasts individually without sharing what they've been through with one another, so really in retrospect this is actually such a special moment in the series to see these two strangers who've not had too much interaction or a close relationship both undergo such a pivotal character moment together. They're not friends exactly, but they're more connected than they'd ever dreamed. Great scene in such a great episode.
@@verinonrenthar9176 That's true, it was James who brought relief that no other could to both Jack and Locke. Jack got to know his father's apology and that he was loved through a pure act of kindness from James telling him, a key moment of redemption for his character. And James also finally freed both him and Locke from Anthony Cooper - although I will say that murdering him isn't exactly the most 'redemptive' act, in a way it was more in line with The Others 'eye for an eye' dogma which Ben was using to deter Locke away from leadership. I think if it were under direct leadership of Jacob or Locke himself, none of our LOSTies would have had to literally kill the thing which was the source of their pain. So the major difference between the two scenes is that one shows an act of true redemption and letting the past go between Jack & James, and the other shows a more old testament way of settling the scores, one which while satisfying for Locke and James, does not necessarily free them completely, there's a bittersweet tinge of regret and satisfaction in John and James' victory ultimately.
When John says “You’ll change your mind, once you hear what he has to say” the look on his face breaks my heart. So much pain. God I love this show and this reaction series!
God damn it. I've watched this show about 7 or 8 times, I've watched Chronologically Lost twice, I've been watching The Normies react to it, and then I discovered and caught up with Hogwarts reacting to it....and it still gives me goosebumps EVERY TIME. Without a doubt the greatest TV show ever made, nothing will ever come close. As there's no way of having that feeling of experiencing it for the first time ever again, I guess my life is now going to be watching other people react to it...and that honestly gives me so much joy to see people's minds blown by it. When Hogwarts was gushing about how good the show is I couldn't stop grinning. Never a truer word spoken. Can't wait to see the reactions to the next few episodes!
Lost is one of those very rare shows which work even better in the second run if you already know how everything will turn out. it adds more depth to everything in the rerun.
The greatest strength and greatest weakness of Lost is that you HAVE to watch it at least twice in order to get all the details and really appreciate it.
@@verinonrenthar9176 I'm still picking things up with every watch. There are even things that have been pointed out in these reactions that I hadn't previously caught.
I forgot how good of an episode this was. I also forgot how much happened in it. The acting was so good from everybody and there was a bunch of great developments. I can't wait for their reaction to the finale. Also, Maya was being unbelievably cute so I don't blame anyone for getting distracted.
I feel this show doesn't get the recognition it deserves. This episode was fantastic now on a 7th or 8th rewatch.... fantastic dialogue, fantastic script and fantastic character development for so many characters.
At one point in time, I had found this channel and they had watched half of the 1st season already. But then I binged too much and now am stuck waiting like everyone else. 😅😆😂
Breaking Bad was amazing, however I was way more emotionally invested in the characters in Lost. There was only 1 for me in BB that I actually cared about to the same extent as LOST characters.
I agree that Breaking Bad is badass and it's way better than Lost BUT in terms of favorites, Lost comes first cause of the perfect character development and the times it made me cry during both sad and happy moments.
Ok, so this episode is so awesome and an amazing episode I kinda forgot so thanks guys for bringing this back for me. Hogwarts is right, this show is too awesome. P.S. glad to see you back sleepy Hannah you were missed so much and P.S.P.S. the doggos have been adorable the last 2 episodes.
Did you know that when you rearrange the letters in "Anthony Cooper" and "Adam Seward" you get "Sawyer, the con man, a poor dad"? lostpedia.fandom.com/wiki/Anthony_Cooper#Trivia
I thought James was going to tear into Anthony when he started the whole "blah, blah, blah" crap, but he restrained himself until that douche tore up the letter. Honestly, If I were in that situation, I think there would have been more than just struggling him. One of the Best scenes of the show.
There is a long run of really good episode now for the next few weeks. I think 3x23, 4x05 & 4x13 in particular will put Hogwarts through the emotional wringer. Personally, I cannot wait to see her reaction to 'The Constant'. She already loves Desmond but I think that will cement him as one of her all time favourite characters ever of any fictional show or medium.

That Sawyer vs. Sawyer scene is just so good. James' expression really grabs me and all that dialogue scene was beautifully shot and edited.
