The most difference you can have for any bikes, it's the weight loss. I'm weighing 175 lbs and my friend is 250 and so much difference on any of our bikes! Iit's free and good for the environment 😉
Dude, super grateful as this was super clarity to my 2017 pre-mod-wise! Thank you for all the individual details and nuances to each level and change (baffle in and out most esp), sharing this is extremely nice for the rest of us FZ owners!! Cheers! ; )
I'm a new subscriber and very much enjoy your content. As a former FZ-09 and FJ-09 who now has had an FZ-10 since July your content is close to pushing me to get an 2017 FZ-09 as a second bike. Yours sounds simply glorious. Thanks for taking the time to put the videos up.
Got the Yoshimura R-77 as well, mainly because of the “baffle in no flash” statement lol. Baffle out is obnoxious. I do ride a 2018 FZ-09 and this video was the deciding factor.
Either the dyno reads differently or other tuners have been able to get a good bit more. Usually 115 whp and 65 torque. Overall gains are much less critical than all the non-numeric improvements such as throttle behavior, injector cut, gear-based power restrictions, fan-on temp, air-fuel ratio improvements, ignition restriction improvements, TB butterflies behavior, speed limiters, PAIR valve/exhaust valve/O2 sensor disable, and other issues.
All dynos are different. Only way to see how your bike changes is to take it in stock to get a Dyno run, do your mods and take it back to see where it's at. Tbf figures mean very little. For me it's all about getting the fueling right.
Just getting into the scene of motorcycles and came across a few of your videos, due to me researching stuff about my bike ('18 MT-09), and I enjoyed the clear information and subtle metaphors in your explanations. I am a fairly new rider and am learning more and more about the motorcycle scene with videos such as yours. Came to say thank you with this along with the Like and Subscribe being hit. I don't do these things that much to other channels UNLESS they give me feedback like your content. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK, Aloha
The bike is pre-owned and bought it from a dealer and the bike had a full Yoshi exhaust with no dB killer inserted. That's all I could tell for motor-wise. Other things like bar end, and aftermarket front/back blinkers were already installed, which would be the main buying points for me.
Wow, super informative, I bet that was a cool experience like you said. I've been riding for 1 1/2 months and I picked up my 2017 FZ-09 last month, AMAZING first bike, all about self control and not being a idiot haha
You bought a 100+ hp bike for a starter bike? Dual sports are a nice place to start..on dirt. Statistically people who ride dirtbikes for a few years before streetbikes are much less likely to crash
So your saying if you have a 2017 you probably shouldn’t flash the ecu after installing a full system exhaust? Just got a 2017 fz09. Getting a exhaust installed next week.
Great Video and information! It's very helpful to get some solid data showing how much work Yamaha has put into the 2017+ ecu. Some of the theory is the baffle is allowing the lambda sensor to have a stable environment to adjust the fuel air mix more than the +/- 10% on previous years
PC is 100% needed with a full exhaust and choppy throttle response like on the 2016 GSXS-1000. Yamaha spent a lot of time and money re flashing the FZ ECU on the newer 2017 model. Save a ton of money because a Slip on for sound is all you need!
Wow, at start up w/out baffle, it sounds sooo good! Watching you ride made me want to get on my bike and GO... darn it, I'm enjoying a cocktail, so no-can-do. Yah, what Hubert said.😋
I dynoed my MT-09 as well. Full R-77 exhaust system and ECU flash. Stock was 114 hp and 59 ft lb at the rear wheel. With the exhaust (baffle in) and ECU tune it was 121 hp and 66 ft lb. It's a 2014 MT-09 so the difference in throttle smoothness is phenomenal compared to stock. The torque curve is smoother and more linear, no sudden drops or irregularities. That is what makes the most difference combined with the smooth throttle response. You don't really notice the extra power when riding it on the road. I suggest leaving the baffle in as it's already loud enough for public roads. Had to learn to use ear plugs with this exhaust! It seems to have a very deep tone at low revs which hurts your ears when you ride it in the city long enough.
Granted, it was not a DynoJet dyno. The tuner said it all depends on what dyno system you run and he doesn't like DynoJet and that it's different from his. It all depends on the conditions so each dyno pretty much gives different results. And of course every single bike is a little different, some might have 2 hp more or less than the next one. The mechanic has been working on Yamaha motorcycles for 20 years now. He engineered and created his own system, so he handcrafted the ECU flash for my MT-09 from start to finish.
Yeah, I don't really care about the numbers as I stated before. That's just what I got, I'm not an engineer. The big difference is the throttle response and the torque curve. But there are still bikes that have been measured way over what the factory promises, for example GSX-S1000. The guy who owns a channel called Fast FZ09 had measured something like 125-130 hp from his FZ-09 with R-77, ECU tune, Graves block off plates and an airbox mod. But again, I just wanted to get the best out of my MT-09 by tuning the ECU after installing the exhaust. And it totally fixed the throttle issue and overheating.
I have a 2015 full Akra exhaust, the drone was crazy loud until I put the baffle in. yours pops a lot on deceleration. I don't get that, maybe it's the different years.
Perfect vid and spare a lot of time ! thanks for sharing !! So for the Yoshi baffle in, no need to flash the ecu and still gain a bit of HP and a smoother thottle response. but what if it is another exhaust system or a slip on? we can t figured out the result unles doing a dyno test or riding with it i guess...?
Im leaving my 19 alone exhaust wise. I put a pipe on my super charged seadoo and the drone is mind numbing. BTW love south florida especially sanibel island. I'm from gulf shores Alabama .
That is plenty power for this type of bike, if you want more than you guys need to buy a liter bike. Thanks for posting this video. The older I get I cannot handle the baffle out on sport bikes, its just annoying on long trips.
With the akra on my xsr900 titanium ..it's very loud without the baffle with no drone ... If I insert the baffle it's very quiet good to pass emissions test every year ..
Talking about baffle-in or baffle-out setup. I just bought a used 2018 MT09 with a full Akrapovic exhaust and the previous owner said it was tuned by the dealer. I assume the tune was done without the battle. What I want to know is if i decide to run the bike on a long trip with the baffle-in would i have to re-tune or it doesn’t matter at all like the video stated? Knowing that it is a different brand exhaust and are all tune basically the same weather it is tune by A or B or Z tuning company??????????
Agreed completely about not noticing horsepower gain or loss a a few digits. I have a civic si. That I flashed. It gained maybe 7 I think according to Dino stats. It wasn't worth it. Can't notice that. My question. Is. When would you notice? Say 15 hp? What is your opinion of noticeable gain or loss.
You mentioned the only time it would really be beneficial on a 2017 and up is if I have a full exhaust system because I will want to get rid of the lean mapping. Is it possible to take the lean spots out with a power commander and a tune? Not many people can tune through ecu, so it might be easier to use a power commander with a local tuner.
Awesome video. I just got the 2017 mt 09 to. Will put on same exhaust after 600 miles break in. My tech also told me its a waste of time flashing the 2017. Cause the ecu will adjust it's selv after a couple of pulls...
Is it possible to get rid of the stupid top speed limit of 210km/h with a flash? It’s really annoying that the bike basically shuts off power if you reach 210 in 5. and 6. gear...
So, I have a 19 MT09 and I want to put a full yoshi r77 exhaust on it. Do I need to get a flash if I plan on keeping the baffle in or do I need to either way? Thanks and great video!
i have a question. here in europe we have the euro 4 and upcoming 5 regulations and some say they have to restrict the fueling to bring it in line of the euro 4 or 5 regulations on the mt 09's etc. if u reflash the ecu does it than loose the warranty on the bike completely? coz here it comes with like 5 years warranty. anything breaks down u get it replaced.
You almost solved it. It is the resonate frequency of your vibrating helmet - caused when the exhaust's pressure waves hit your helmet. I am pretty sure anyway. Tests with different helmets will likely be different if true. ..gone or at a different rpm. It sounds great to me! :)
I know this bike would be horrible as a first bike (even at 290lbs at 4000+ ft altitude), but every time I hear one especially with the Yoshi pipe, I really want one.
Idividezero. If u can. Just get some more riding experience before u buy the FZ09. It was my first street bike and I luv it. Although I'm only, 5'5/165lb.
Love the fz video's, bought a new 2017 fz09 a week ago and was thinking about getting an m4 slip on but was worried about the fueling being good. Sounds like it would be fine if i leave the baffle in. Thanks for posting these video's! I'll be interested in what tires you chose when its time for new ones.
that is what i thought. i just do not like how it looks with the large shield. i have it totally stock for now and will some day put on the Akrapovic Full System Race Line Titanium S-Y9R8-HEGEHT and a PCV
Other than the weight saving advantages of the full system, wouldn't just adding a slip-on be the way to go, all things considered? Seeking advice here.
Not at all. Slipons are just for changing the noise a little. They do nothing practical for power and as you mentioned, virtually no weight advantage. Without getting rid of restrictive headers and the cat, you gain almost nothing.
im thinking of adding a slip-on. to bring up the sound. i find the sound will alert those in four wheelers that im on the road. its a safety issue up here in the nyc area. my question is will i need a flashing should i add a slip-on. by the way good vid
TwoWheelObsession, would you reccomend getting a power commander and getting it fineòy tuned on a 2014 fz-09 even without an aftermarket exhaust? Just to improve the linearity and erogation?
Hi, have you any idea, where to pick up a good rpm signal for further processing? Or do you know where they picked up the signal for the dyno tune? Greetings
Nice stuff man, I'm really close to you, I got Two brothers full exhaust on my gsxr600 and I put back my baffle because it was WAY too LOUD, I still need to Tune mine , Cool stuff keep it up 💪🏼
I have a problem and i need help. I recently bought a 2018 MT09 with a full carbon akrapovic exhaust system on the bike. There are two previous owner before me. The second owner which is the previous owner i bought the bike from said that the bike was installed and tuned by the dealership that the original first owner bought it from. I don’t trust the knowledge of the second owner about the history of the bike. But the bike look brand new around 2000 miles on the odometer when i bought it. My problem is when i was riding the bike and sitting in a stop light and the bike is idling when i give it a little rev from stand still on neutral. The bike would stall from a stand still neutral geared position. The engine would just shut off. The engine would stall from neutral gear and idle about 2 times out of 10 tries (it dose not stall everytime in that situation but only 2/10). I do not know if the dealer even installed the full exhaust and tuned it. I think someone is lying. i think the original owner which is the first owner bought and installed the full akrapovic exhaust without having it tuned but i am just speculating. What should i do? Is it just a tuning problem or could it be something else or much more worse? And the bike already has 2000 miles when i bought it and i guess it was running in that state. Your help would be appreciated. Thanks
Did u have any problems during the dyno? Jut dynoed mine Mt09-SP and it cuts off at 9000 RPM, We tryed turning of the TCS but didn't work. Hooked up the yamaha "box" to see any error codes cause the engine light turned on. Only found error code 58, which is the throttle controll. But any ideas why it cuts at 9000 Rpm? Is it cause we didn't remove the ABS sensor?
@@TwoWheelObsession Ah okay, no i didn't i don't even live in America :) Really frustrating to not know what to do, I mean the bike have been out for a while and i can't find anything with the same problem :/ Ty for answer ! And Gl with your MT09
F. Caputo yes I would think so, from my knowledge but I’m not a mechanic so but the general knowledge is to get it tuned if you are getting a full exhaust system
Great channel, very informative and glad I subbed. Small question...did your aftermarket exhaust affect your fuel mapping or is the standard ECU able to cope?
Thanks for your videos, very detailed. I have just bought a 2017 mt09. As you say that drone noise is very weird, I am still running mine in at the moment but also looking around at exhausts. I was probably going for the akropovic although have a soft spot for the yoshimura systems. on their site they do not list a exhaust for them? thanks again
With this experience what would you recommend for a 2010 FJR? Mechanically mine is stock but I would love to have a lower rumbling exhaust note. Mine has plenty of HP and I don't think 2-4 HP increase would net much improvement.
#1 it would take a full exhaust and power commander and a dyno tune to change power. #2 there are a ton of slip ons available, you just have to go with what looks and sounds good to you.
I picked up a 2014 FZ09 recently and it has some full system with a skinny, short muffler. It's hardly a muffler at all. Loud. I picked up a stock system for the bike and it's MUCH nicer to ride. I felt a power loss for sure as the bike would always pull the front tire in first gear at WOT no matter what when it had the loud exhaust. With the stock exhaust I can go full throttle in first without wheelying sometimes.
Very informative. Perhaps you mentioned it and I missed it, but what was the difference in torque going from OEM to full Yosh, then with ECU flashed? And did baffle in versus out affect torque?
Hello. Did you notice a loss of any low-end power, or any flat spots in the torque curve at all, prior to the ECU flash? I have the same bike in black (2019), and really like this exhaust. Thanks for your time and videos. Your explanation afterwards regarding the value of the flash was very informative.
Just sent my ecu to vcycle. After flash did some of the popping go away? I have a akrapovic carbon and at high rpm when i let of the throttle its LOUD. So I'm hoping the flash reduces the popping some.
He must of misunderstood cause this is his reply email to me It's still best to install block off plates if you don't want any popping but the flash will greatly reduce the popping David
Good stuff, very educational overall. I'm a little confused about the fzo9 flashes versus the xsr flashes. if the 2016 xsr flash is the same as the 2016 fzo9 or if they gave the 16 xsr has the same flash as they would give the 17 fzo9 a year later. yeah LOL, it's very confusing. like I said in at least one of your other posts, I do have the 2016 xsr900 with the Vcyclenut flash and full Akra exhaust. runs great but does have a flaw with the idle.
Oh, some of what makes it confusing is that they did put the improved suspension on the 2016 xsr 900 but not on the 2016 fz-09 from what I gather. so I wonder if they did the same thing with the ecu's. Wow!, now my head's throbbing. maybe someone out there can give some insight
You should get a fuel module and a generic map if you swap full exhaust. Stock ECU isn't able to adjust more than a few % air/fuel ratio without requiring a piggyback module. It's not a joke messing around with fueling and air (intake or exhaust). Quick way to destroy an engine when it runs lean. With a flash, you have the benefit of removing the electronic speed limiter (if that's your thing), adjusting fan-on temps, ignition curves (if necessary), secondary flies (if necessary), adjust quick-shifter times, and a whole host of parameters. I'm sure Yamaha has really cleaned things up. I'd be disappointed in the speed limiter personally.
@@exothermal.sprocket Kinda makes sense to have a speed limiter on a powerful naked bike tho. I know its a bit of a bummer but i see it as a safety feature. No stabilizer , no wind protection and kinda soft suspension really not a great combination for going more than 225km/h. I do not get why Yamaha does it, but i feel like they are taking care of me/us x). Also yamaha sells an Akrapovic exhaust with cat in it, that only gives 2,5 HP and is only 2kg lighter, you think the bike will run lean with it? It doesn't say it needs a ECU reflash and that exhaust doesn't even stops the warranty. I have a 2018 Yamaha-MT 09 SP (only sold in eu) and i'd like a bit more sound and horsepower, but the bike still has 9-10 months of warranty. You think the OG akrapovic will be enough? its not cheap it cost 1.000$+ , while race exhausts are cheaper and give more.
@@MakTheSank Frankly 135 mph is illegal anywhere at any time. Yet people do it. And speaking from the perspective of physics and science, it's really stupidly easy to do that speed with total and absolute lack of danger. But on this bike the suspension and steering stability is rubbish. Get that sorted out with a shock, cartridges, and stabilizer and 130 is easy and stable. Using another naked bike for perspective, a reflashed GSX-S1000 can do big numbers without wobbling and floating about. 1290 Super Duke R is another. Tuono 1100 is another. S1000R is another. Just depends on the rake/trail of the front forks, swingarm angle of the rear wheel, quality of damping circuits front and rear, and proper spring rates for the rider. ruclips.net/video/j7TMRXk_xj8/видео.html
@@TwoWheelObsession I'm going to install the full akra (with baffle in) exhaust this weekend, that alone is a lot of work. I don't want to do ECU flash or AiS block off since the whole fuel tank removal and everything under seem complicated, plus mine is 2018 MT-09 still under warranty. Is it safe? 2nd question, if I decided to send ECU to David for reflash do I really have to do block off plate?
Hi! just a 2HP gain? Shouldn't be more?... Looking on the unlimited map for the 2017 fz09/mt09 I can see huge variations on the ETV, and FUEL vs. RPM. I'm talking about P/N:BS2-8591A-00 , did you flash based on this map, or it was tuned from stock map? good things besides the HP gain: AIS disabled, fan control e is better, default to A mode.

TwoWheelObsession oh okay I was about to take out the baffle but I guess I'll wait till I do the flash then and if I may ask what do I need to do the flash?
Really great content here. Thanks for the video and details. To be clear, does this change the throttle response on a 2017? I test rode one and my body was falling forward and backward because it's so touchy. Does a tune smooth that out some or not so much?
mine hit 114 with stock header an cheap slip on stock tune after flash tunes 119.6 same stock header cheapo slip on....yamaha spent money on header design for this bike full exhaust is a waste of bread. slip FTW
Hey man, great video! I just got my ECU flashed by Dave as well. I have the exact same setup as you...Yoshi R77 on a 2017 FZ 09. How did you find your fuel economy? I found that my bike has become a pig on fuel! I used to get around 225Km before fuel indicator starts blinking. Now, I get around 170Km and I'm blinking. I'm usually running around my baffle in. What are your thoughts?

@13:15 What caused that stutter? Tire slip?
Traction control kicking in
Oh yup. Forgot the '17s had that...more like "fun remover" ;)
Only on TCS2 - TCS1 removes wheelie control and you can further turn both off.

ART R not, not a full exhaust. Not unless your okay with potentially shorter engine life from overheating
You dont have to flash you just need a power commander 5, and have a mechanic tune it with a computer. You dont need to put it on a dyno machine.
Jonathon Hittel do we still need a flash if the bike got “tuned”?
i realy want to add this exhaust on my fz-09 2017 , if i keep the baffle in do a realy need to flash and dyno tune it ?

The Akrapovic full exhaust system with the the baffle and cat in is the way to go. 115 whp @ 10’800 rpm.

Awesome video. I just got the 2017 mt 09 to. Will put on same exhaust after 600 miles break in. My tech also told me its a waste of time flashing the 2017. Cause the ecu will adjust it's selv after a couple of pulls...
+Kenneth Jensen your tech is a moron.
Gibberish
Is it possible to get rid of the stupid top speed limit of 210km/h with a flash? It’s really annoying that the bike basically shuts off power if you reach 210 in 5. and 6. gear...
Yes
So, I have a 19 MT09 and I want to put a full yoshi r77 exhaust on it. Do I need to get a flash if I plan on keeping the baffle in or do I need to either way? Thanks and great video!
Hey man did you find an answer? I am in a similar place with my bike
good morning friend where is fortmyers located I have a Mt-07 I would like to tune it
Hi, which software did you use for the Tuning? Thanks.
i have a question. here in europe we have the euro 4 and upcoming 5 regulations and some say they have to restrict the fueling to bring it in line of the euro 4 or 5 regulations on the mt 09's etc. if u reflash the ecu does it than loose the warranty on the bike completely? coz here it comes with like 5 years warranty. anything breaks down u get it replaced.
Sorry I have no idea about your laws
In Europe you’ll probably go to jail for doing that. It’s the home of Euro 4.
You almost solved it. It is the resonate frequency of your vibrating helmet - caused when the exhaust's pressure waves hit your helmet. I am pretty sure anyway. Tests with different helmets will likely be different if true. ..gone or at a different rpm. It sounds great to me! :)
Ah, no. It's clear just standing next to it. I heard it for hours on the Dyno too.
+Idividezero it's all about self control. I started on a new FJR and believe me it's more of a handful ;)
Brian, I'm wondering which is the quicker bike between the FZ09 and FJR?
0-30 the FZ from there it's not even a contest.
I have fz09 2017, but i dont know what is generation ecu is there. How can i recognize it? Do i need or not flash ecu?
Love the fz video's, bought a new 2017 fz09 a week ago and was thinking about getting an m4 slip on but was worried about the fueling being good. Sounds like it would be fine if i leave the baffle in. Thanks for posting these video's! I'll be interested in what tires you chose when its time for new ones.
I have a set of Road 5 waiting in the garage
does your small wind shield help with wind at all? i am not sure if i want the small one or the larger shield.
Nope it's just for looks
that is what i thought. i just do not like how it looks with the large shield. i have it totally stock for now and will some day put on the Akrapovic Full System Race Line Titanium S-Y9R8-HEGEHT and a PCV
OK, it sounds great with the baffle in as well. 👍🏼
so true, my 2014 dynojet job on my Fast -zone 09 made it a brand new bike, a must for that model. 💝🎯with my full exhaust system.
TwoWheelObsession Thanks
Because they include a catalytic converter.
Do you know if the earlier FZ's (13-16) put out more HP than the 17' with the ECU flashed and a full aftermarket exhaust ?
No. Same engines.
im thinking of adding a slip-on. to bring up the sound. i find the sound will alert those in four wheelers that im on the road. its a safety issue up here in the nyc area. my question is will i need a flashing should i add a slip-on. by the way good vid
No
Wow thanks! I have a 2014 and yeah, the fuel delivery is not very good but I'm used to it now. Guess I'll spend my money on gear and suspension
TwoWheelObsession, would you reccomend getting a power commander and getting it fineòy tuned on a 2014 fz-09 even without an aftermarket exhaust? Just to improve the linearity and erogation?
No. Get the ecu flashed.
Thanks, where do you suggest to get a decent mapping? I'm not that sure about official yamaha's workshops...
Hi, have you any idea, where to pick up a good rpm signal for further processing?
Or do you know where they picked up the signal for the dyno tune?
Greetings
It was one of the ecu wires at the harness
do you know if the drone issue applies with Graves as well on this bike? Thank you.
+YellowHoRRnet no idea but there’s no reason to think another model would be the same.
Thanks
I had the same problem! Never figured it out.. unfortunately I totaled my bike on the weekend
No, sorry. I'm assuming you didn't go to Dave. He did have to do some things but I don't remember what. He knows what he's doing.
@@TwoWheelObsession Ah okay, no i didn't i don't even live in America :) Really frustrating to not know what to do, I mean the bike have been out for a while and i can't find anything with the same problem :/ Ty for answer ! And Gl with your MT09
Your dyno guy just isn't familiar with it.
So, if you put any type of full exhaust system on the MT09 do you have to replace or do an ECU flash?
F. Caputo yes I would think so, from my knowledge but I’m not a mechanic so but the general knowledge is to get it tuned if you are getting a full exhaust system
Are you running on close loop or did they leave the o2 sensor ?
Strange that you mention drone, I have the same full yoshi system on my 17 fz09 with mo baffle and I experience no drone
What jacket is that you're wearing? I have an alpinestars but it's still too hot, I need more mesh. Thanks
+Jeffrey Murillo joe rocket. See my review vid on it
Thanks.
I am planning on getting my XSR900 flashed by Vcyclenut as well.
how about the xsr900? do you think they fixed the bugs as well?
Great channel, very informative and glad I subbed. Small question...did your aftermarket exhaust affect your fuel mapping or is the standard ECU able to cope?
Oh man, I was like "this guy...where do I know him from?" Then I remembered, my favorite cigar channel - cigarobsession. Great content.
+vinnychoff it's the R77. I got it from revzilla
Where did you get it done at
With this experience what would you recommend for a 2010 FJR?
Yeah it’s the twin cats that soak the power
Very informative. Perhaps you mentioned it and I missed it, but what was the difference in torque going from OEM to full Yosh, then with ECU flashed? And did baffle in versus out affect torque?
Only 1-2 lbs./ft. for both.
Good video, I will get that same exhaust for my 17 FJ-09. Probably pass on the tune. I would always use the baffle
Well that was really helpful, very nice and clear. Thank you.
Do you still own this bike I have a 16 xsr900 and I am thinking about the yoshimura exhaust, sound it's really good
Yep
How can I get a hold of him
Thanks man! Appreciate the detail.
As I detailed in the video, the flash has nothing to do with it anymore on the 17+. You must install AIS blockoffs.
Ion vcycle told me it would greatly reduce thembut not completely eliminate on the 17.
Not that big of a deal if it still pops ill install plates
You may have misunderstood. He even posted himself that the option is gone completely in his software.
He must of misunderstood cause this is his reply email to me
It's still best to install block off plates if you don't want any popping but the flash will greatly reduce the popping
David
That Snap, crackle ,Pop sounds amazing tho💯👌
+EastBay MauiBoy the 2017 fz is a unique ecu and suspension, neither is the same as the xsr.
TwoWheelObsession , how is the decel when you role off throttle in 3rd and lower? I'm trying figure out if I can get this smoothed out for my xsr.
Engine braking is perfect. It's the same as any other great modern bike.
Very nice video. Explains everything excellent. If i get a Yoshimura slip on with baffle in will i need an ECU flash?
No
great! thanks for the quick reply.
What kind of oil are you running? Thanks
Ok, so no HP gains and no other benefits. Is it worth flashing just too make it run less lean. How much will it affect the valves if no flash is done?
Uh, you seriously misunderstood the vid. Very nice HP gains.
Sorry i wasnt very specific.. I meant no gains from the ECU flash itself. Do you know the answere to the question in my comment?
Like I said, you seriously misunderstood. Yes it was from the flash. You only need it done if you do a full exhaust without baffle.
The ftecu website is not updated/accurate. The 2017 has completely different options. As I went though in the video.

Did you find an answer? Im in a similar spot with my 2019!!
Best advice I can give is to write V cycle nut. He will answer your questions correctly.
did you have the ECU flashed before going to the dyno ? or did they flash and tune the bike while you were there?
and so your suggesting there's no point to flash.. just getting it tuned if you get a full system.
Great videos by the way. Thank you very much for your content. Subscribed.
why you block the speed reading?
Just to make you comment ;)
¬¬ ! jeje ok.... take care man, great channel !
Ah-hahahaha!
I had the same problem with an aftermarket full system (Chinese) I ended up getting a a longer back pipe which stopped the drone
You get what you pay for.
Thanks for the info. Love the channel!!!
Doesnt it need a new flash with the exhaust, instead of the stock one?
Need, no. Want yes lol
Want yes? extra rich mixture for flames out the exhaust? (need the baffle out for that i believe)
No that’s from the ais system. Just emissions
So I don't need a flash if I put on a full system exhaust with the baffle out?
Baffle in, no. Out, yes.
TwoWheelObsession what will happen if i take out the baffle and don't do the flash?
It runs too lean in several spots for long term engine health and has a few hesitations. We found that out on the dyno.
TwoWheelObsession oh okay I was about to take out the baffle but I guess I'll wait till I do the flash then and if I may ask what do I need to do the flash?
+Jefejeff you need to send it off to the company of your choice to have it flashed. Or ride there.
Really great content here. Thanks for the video and details. To be clear, does this change the throttle response on a 2017? I test rode one and my body was falling forward and backward because it's so touchy. Does a tune smooth that out some or not so much?
That's completely up to how you order it, it can be flashed to your specifications
Interesting. Good to know. Thank you
I have a 2019 mt 09 would i decrease hp if i go with akropovic carbon full exhaust on a stock tune?
I did 114.6 hp on stock tune with the akrapovic carbon race line. With the ecu flash and proper tune with woolich race tools 121.4 hp
mine hit 114 with stock header an cheap slip on stock tune after flash tunes 119.6 same stock header cheapo slip on....yamaha spent money on header design for this bike full exhaust is a waste of bread.
No change here, I get 45 MPG with a heavy hand.
So you can install a full exhaust system with out baffle on a stock ECU and gain 11 horsepower? If so that's pretty amazing with the stock ecu!
That's pretty standard for a full exhaust. Most out there are just slipons - very different.
Just out of curiosity have you tested air filters and potential further gains with aftermarket air filters on this bike?
+ConditionSix the stock filter is not a bottleneck it's been tested for years.
So meaning to say do i need to adjust ecu if i use full system exhaust without baffle to gain my optimum stock-like fuel consumption
Hi you say you lost 3 bhp with the baffle in? Through the whole rev range or just top end?
Just peak
That’s good. I have the akrapovic titanium and it is supper loud with no baffle. Can’t handle it no more. Have to order one
