Nice! I like the text on the screen, makes the video more interesting, and keeps me watching. Keep it that way. I so miss my neighborhood now. Can't wait to go back😉
Been here 2 months. Coming back to stay, first of the year. Been exploring but missed that hill!!! OMG!!! Thank you for climbing it for me. I may have to drive up! 😊
Goodness those are some serious hills..Hey Mark welcome to youtube. Breathe ..lol Thanks for taking us on this walk about town. Love it and the architecture of that town. WOW
Hi Kristen, this is Sam and Kayla from Texas..... Great job conquering the hill. We are coming there in September, so thank you for the tips. We are new subscribers as well, keep up the amazing videos. Thanks, Sam and Kayla
This is such a sweet video. Nice to see and hear from you, Mark! Even the young guy behind you was gripping the handrail on the way up the hill, lol. (Not to say that ya’ll are not young…you are still capable and you made it!) Thank you for the walk/climb.
Hey Kirsten👋, I just recently found your channel, I love y'alls vibe, fun and down to earth, you're doing a great job with the video's, sending❤from Kentucky..
Hi-ya Kirsten! Thank you =) I'm enjoying these walks in various Lisbon neighborhoods. Goodness gracious, that hill was no joke and totally warranted a beer break 🙌 I forgot to ask in your previous video walking around Principe Real, there seems to be quite a few kiosks within the city with drinks and snacks. That made me wonder; how accessible are the public bathrooms? Is there a fee? I recall paying for usage while in Porto. Cheers =)
Thanks for watching, glad you’re enjoying the videos. I’m not really sure about public toilets around the quiosques - I’ve been asked about this before so I think it’s time I find out!
any recommendations if you are arriving in Lisbon, Portugal in the morning and you cant check into your apartment until 4pm. what would you do? We will likely be wiped out from travel.
I would see if I could find a hotel with day rates. Many (airport) hotels around the world offer this, and we’ve found it to be a lifesaver after long travel or during long layovers. I did a quick google search and didn’t come up with much for Lisbon. I would call/email a couple of the larger chains (Melia Lisboa Aeroporto, Tivoli Oriente Lisboa, Iberostar Selection Lisboa) to see if this service is offered. We’ve also done the “we must stay awake” thing and a good option for this is to ride the hop-on hop-off bus. You get a good overview of the city and can walk/ride as you please until check-in time. If all else fails and you’re not pressed for time, find a comfy spot at the airport and get in some good people watching. Hope this helps!
@@whatsupwkirsten thank you for your feedback. i like the idea of doing the hop on and off. That sounds perfect. Our goal is to be low key but try and stay awake as long as possible.
Rick, that's the cool thing about Portugal -- you can be yourself and no one cares what you look like, how you dress, etc. If you're worried about being singled out, don't be loud and obnoxious.
Wow…congratulations on Mark’s official debut (sooner or later 🙂) and for taking a hit for the team. That was quite a climb. 😮 According to Google (i.e., not always accurate) the change in elevation from the Arroios Metro stop to the Miradouro do Monte Aguido is 55m or 180ft! That’s quite an accomplishment. 🧗 Honestly, the two biggest issues for us about Lisbon are aircraft noise and hills, limiting the livable areas-hence considering places outside the city with good transit options to Lisbon. Cheers. 👍🏻
Mark says thanks, he’s aiming to please 🤣 We are not in the flight path, but when inclement weather reverses the take-offs, we get some noise. Growing up in the shadow of a naval air station, along with Mark’s time in the Navy makes it almost a familiar comfort. You’ll definitely find your spot as there are so many different areas within the Lisbon metro area. Thanks for watching 😀
@@whatsupwkirsten Thanks for your reply and your encouragement. Yes, when we stayed near Marques de Pombal, we definitely noticed an increase in noise when it rained. :-( Thanks again for your fine work.
I love “walking” with you guys. 🤗 Thank you for sharing. Planning a trip to the country soon. ☀️
Hi Gina, thanks for watching! Glad you’re enjoying the walks 😀 If you have any questions about your upcoming trip, let me know 🇵🇹☀️
What parts of Lisbon are flat and alot less hilly ?
@@kingjames2226 Alvalade, Campo Pequeno, Campo Grande, Areeiro, Campo de Ourique ... pretty much any neighborhood away from the main tourist areas.
Hi Kristen, thank you for the video. These hills are remind me of various hills on San Francisco! What a walk 🚶♂️ 👏!!

Hey Sam and Kayla, thanks for watching! Appreciate the sub, and glad you're finding the videos helpful. September is a great time to come to Portugal!
Hi Kristen, well done to you both for walking this very steep street, incredibly difficult. Laurence xxxx

Hey Tammie, nice to meet you. Thanks for watching, and appreciate the love!❤️
lovely videos with great soundtrack
Thanks for watching, glad you're enjoying the videos!
Lovely video! You walked right past our street. Those hills are no joke, we have to deal with them daily 😂 Great seeing our neighbourhood on screen.
LOVE your neighborhood! Kudos to you dealing with that on the daily!😃🙌🏾
Thanks for sharing your experience
Thanks for watching 😀
That final incline was intense.
Well I found some interesting apartments there that are cheap to rent.. but looking up those hills I'm gonna be cautious now, lol.
Good God! 😲 That’s quite the climb!!
It sure is! 🤣
Wow ,good for you for tackling that hill. I think I would have given in and hailed a taxi halfway through.
Thanks for watching! In retrospect it doesn’t seem all that bad, but that’s not what I was thinking at the time 🤣

As someone who lives in that area, its true, the hills are annoying and everywhere

Why a gym if we have Lisboa :)
You speak the truth. Thanks for watching 😀
Hi Mark!🤣🤣🤣
He says hiiiiiiiiiii🤣
👋😁
Good walking tour. haha, Mark screams American. I've been very conscious of that and don't want people to immediately make me out as American.

@@whatsupwkirsten Don't be the "ugly American". 100%
Not many trees in that area :(
Still a beautiful neighborhood with all those colors and that architecture 😀
Not really a tourist area, and I'm thinking if I retired there I might need a car.
That is why God invented Public Transportation........
Why didn’t you call UBER?
Right! 😅
Because we were out for a walk 🚶🏾♀️🚶🏼♂️🤣 Plus, where’s the adventure in that?!
Touché 😂😂😂
