@@lklobs I don't know why it's confusing unless you also don't know what that line means. You think the line is funny but you don't understand it?
If you go to medical school and read the book and did everything right, you aren't a sheep, it's your job.
You're not supposed to think on your own and do your own thing. There's no freedom in your job especially when you're helping other people.
Not being a sheep means you do your own research and you think about things on your own and you don't just take a word just because somebody with a degree said it.
It's a very personal issue, and if this doctor doesn't want to do his job he can just quit anytime.
But he also might as well not help fat people or diabetic people or smokers.
The only reason they can get away with saying careless and unethical things like this is because they don't care about the science or people, only about an agenda.
@@waltermh111 First of all, I couldn't understand what YOU SAID cause your sentence structure made no sense. It had nothing to do with my of understanding the joke.
And did you get that this video was facetious, and not what he seriously believes? Also, I completely disagree with your opinion that being a doctor is in essence being a sheep. *Every* job, industry, field, career is based on knowledge gained by predecessors that's been passed down through generations, whether it's in school or an informal apprenticeship. That does not mean that everyone is a sheep because they base their actions on what history and science has shown is the best and most effective process. That doesn't mean everyone operates in the same way or makes the same decisions given similar circumstances, and this is particularly true in the medical field.
I have a genetic condition that took years and a journey of countless doctors to finally get the proper diagnosis. I deeply appreciate the medical field and those who have chosen to dedicate their lives to helping others get healthy. I also have a long history of doctors screwing me over so I know that when they mess up, they REALLY mess up.
None of that has anything to do with being a sheep. Do you know what it means to be called a sheep? It means you're blindly following either a person or idea without ever seeing any evidence that supports your blind faith. The point of the joke is that anti-vax nutjobs think doctors are sheep that blindly follow whatever big pharma says to do, when the truth is that the medical field heavily scrutinizes, analyzes, and tests new ideas or medicines or treatments. So please, explain to me why his joke doesn't make sense.

The vitamin c part was definitely funny.. imagine a doctor recommending that for a heart attack. That would be legit malpractice. The problem with our culture is we don’t marry the use of preventive medicine or holistic care with pharmaceutical medicine. It’s like we are at war with each other instead of working together to create the most robust healthcare system. For instance- I had a herniated disc.. back doctor wanted to do surgery, and I understood but wanted to see if there was a more simple solution because I’m young. I went to the chiropractor and discovered I have a straight spine- I do certain exercises everyday to help my spine curve better and let the herniation heal. That was 6 years ago- it totally fixed the problem and the herniation causes absolutely no problems. If an issue can be managed without medicine or surgery, I think it makes sense. Emergencies almost always require immediate serious medical attention, but that doesn’t mean holistic and pharmaceutical care can’t be friends. Moral of the story: vitamin c heals everything.
Good testimony and agree with most everything you say. Of course, vit C will not cure a heart attack. It may prevent one depending on circumstance, dosage, etc., but most likely will not cure one. Vit C is not the cure-all, but it does help prevent many other infirmities. Let's not give vit C a bad wrap...😉
Holistic medicine and Essential oils are garbage. Period. Stupid people kill themselves and there children with it all the time. We do NOT need to "marry" proven medical treatments with bullcrap.

I’ve had life-threatening complications from a vaccination five years ago. I ended up in the hospital and taking two weeks off of work. The worst thing I saw on facebook was a mother nebulizing her asthmatic kid with essential oils. They should really put these people in jail
Actually, eucalypt essence works is some cases of bronchitis, asthma and respiratory sysem illnessess. The natives from south america have been using it from thousands of years, and it surprisingly works! Idk if the type of oils and essences of other countries is different, but it worked for me and my dad.
As an asthmatic I can confirm that essential oils such as eucalyptus or frankincense can help, but I wouldn't recommend replacing your asthma medication with it.
I have used essential oils to treat my asthma. There are many natural bronchodilators. You should still always have a rescue inhaler.
I was sold the lie that I had to use daily inhaled steroids to manage my asthma. I quit them after several years. There was an adjustment period where I got worse. But then I got better. And stayed better. I’m now using my rescue inhaler less than when I was on the inhaler steroid. Western medicine doesn’t know anything about asthma. Sure does make a lot of money for the pharmaceutical industry to hook people on daily drug use.
Depending on the severity of the asthma, certain essential oils can be quite helpful. At a certain point, even allopathic prescriptions fail, so it's not exactly cut and dried. Find the solution that fits the problem and don't assume your case is the same as everyone else's case.
@Jasmine Sploots a nebulizer is literally just a machine that makes medicine breathable. It is in no way some indication of severity of disease. This is pretty much how I feel when I go to my local hospital! 3 hours at home of intense chest pain that increases when I move or breathe! Have had several bouts of a pounding/fast heart rate! 2 more hours in the waiting room, unable to properly breathe due to the pain! Much less get comfortable. I also have a massive abscess in my jaw which is a big risk for shedding bacteria into my blood stream. 4 hours after entering the ER I get booted with no diagnosis, still in a ton of pain from my jaw, and unable to take a full breath without wanting to scream.
To add insult to injury, I have a $1,000 in dental coverage but because I’m over 21 the one dentist in my area that takes my insurance refuses to see me. I can’t afford to pay cash which would be upwards of $500 as it will be a surgical removal. This is why people die from a bad tooth. No access to care and substandard care in the ER.

Lastly, a dentist in the US would NOT remove an abscesses tooth without a few days of antibiotics, ever! If he went to a dentist it would cost around $100 with no insurance bc all that would happen is an exam and a prescription.

Taking a vaccine isn't just about your own health, _it's also about the health of the whole community._
Thus far, 630,000+ Americans have died from COVID-19.
Also, getting vaccinated reduces the chance of a person spreading that deadly virus.
_Not_ getting vaccinated, when you are able to be vaccinated, means that you just don't care about other people in your community.
@@pauligrossinoz That's bullshit, if you are vaccinated, according to Fauci, you are protected. Of course, that is not appearing to be the case as people that get vaccinated are also getting this non-fatal flu again
@@sarahisup - *no,* you're talking bullshit, not me.
Anyone's immune defences can be breached if the pathogen is persistent enough.
Even a fully vaccinated person can have their antibody defences overwhelmed if they have prolonged contact with infected people.
And only the truly _insane_ would dismiss a disease that has so far killed 630,000+ Americans as a mere "flu".
*Antivaxxers are a death cult.* Sad. 🙄
Freckles you made a excellent comment and vaccines are not a one size fits all. All medical procedures, operations, medications and vaccines have a potential to be either helpful or deadly it depends on the individuals body, the benefit vs risk factor and the choice of the individual alone to make for their body. That is why when you get any procedure, operation or vaccine you have to sign a release of liability including all children's vaccines.

That sounds really tough. Some of my good friends are anti-vax. It's tough because I understand where their distrust of pharmaceutical corporations and the US government comes from and truly, bad historical behavior has largely built this distrust. That, and others have learned that they can profit off of that distrust.
It's all very disheartening. The best that you can do is point to information gleaned from those who don't have a profit motive and educate them the best that you can.

I triaged a covid+ 22 month old. Her mother is covid+, pregnant and inpatient. Her father told me neither he or mom were vaxxed. I asked, "Isn't it an opportunity to protect your family?" He replied: "I don't have covid."
That is the selfishness from anti-vaxxers summed up in a nutshell.
That poor baby and having been stuck with those moronic parents. I hope she’ll recover quickly.
Oh lord that’s horrifying. I hope that kid is ok
Actually we don't know the long-term side effects of the covid vaccine on a pregnant woman.
But I'm guessing you're willing to make her an experiment so you can feel better. talk about selfish.
And considering the 22-year-old is more in danger from the flu than he is covid the experimental drug just isn't worth it.
People get sick you give him treatment and there's plenty of good treatments and you take care of them and they'll get through it.
The data also shows that the virus doesn't hit pregnant women any harder than non-pregnant women and the infants inside is not in any greater danger.
If she's healthy she has a 99.9% chance of survival. The vaccine has killed tens of thousands of people already so it's not unfair for her to take a chance.
It's your selfishness that tries to guilt and shame them into doing what you want.
Statistically if your under the age of 60 your likelihood of death due to covid is like 2%... which likely of that 2% covid wasn't the leading cause. Basically if your a healthy individual or even just not on deaths door you will be fine, don't believe me? Damn, you rode that fine line between making me laugh and making my eye twitch. Perfection!
Right? It would be so much more hysterical if it didn’t remind me there are millions of people like this out there.
I wouldn't say I'm an anti vaxxer but I'm not a fan of the vaccines. I work in the hwaltcare industry on an island with a population of 66k. I've encounter multiple scenarios where cardiology specialists are suspecting the vaccine as the cause of patients new heart problems.
So as much as I love this channel and think Dr Schmidt is the bomb, I am not 100% on board with the covid vaccine regime.
Furthermore, there have been two doctors who have resigned since covid because they were convinced something wasn't right, one was specifically against giving the vaccine to children.
The reason why I mentioned the population of the island, is because its apparently highly unlikely to have an adverse affect to the vaccines (not including immediate allergic reactions or the usual cold and flu symptoms). They say its like 1 in a million people. And yet, I work in a doctors surgery, which looks after a third of the islands patients (33k), let's bear in mind that children under 12 have not been given the vaccine here which is going to reduce that number further. On top of that, this only my limited scope, I don't have a list of all the patients who have been deemed as having heart problems or other issues due to the vaccine, just the patients I've come across while working.
So please tell me how the chance is supposed to be 1 in a million when it's so prevalent here? Cardiovascular problems are the main ones but I have another colleague who has been advised by the orthopaedic surgeon not to have any of the boosters because the last covid vaccine caused the synovial fluid in her joint to "dry up" which caused her further issues with her shoulder.
Taking the vaccine should be a personal choice. No one should be forced to take it. No one should be shamed or ridiculed for their choice. It shouldn't be mandatory in any setting.
Do the benefits outweigh the risks in a lot of cases? Yes. Despite being extremely dubious of the vaccine when it first rolled out I encouraged my mum to get it because she is severely immunocompromised and I knew that if she had covid she would suffer greatly as she is morbidly obese, asthmatic, diabetic and has some unresolved immune disorder which is currently being investigated by the specialist.
Should we be encouraging otherwise healthy people, especially those who've already had covid and been fine, to get the vaccine? Should we be giving this to children who generally fair better with covid than adults? Especially when we do not know the long term affects of this vaccine. I know there is a lot of talk about how the vaccine is designed in a similar way to other vaccines, hence there wasn't as much need for testing... But then how come we weren't already aware of the risk of blood clots? How come people are having issues we otherwise weren't aware of? I don't know about America but many countries in Europe stopped or delayed the roll out of astra zeneca because of the potential for blood clots. Our public health system no longer gave it to people of a certain age group and underlying condtions. If these vaccines were thoroughly tested and safe, then why wasn't this information provided earlier?
I mean even with all of that aside, the other argument is we aren't going to beat covid, unless we all take the vaccine. Its already fairly obvious that the whole world will not be able to keep vaccination up-to-date to the extent that we can stop the virus mutating and stub corona out all together but that's completely unrealistic. Yes, of course a higher population of vaccinated people will result in less variants but again, given the viability of getting everyone vaccinated to begin with, it was a bit of a dream to begin with.
Also big pharma is no joke, why we can accept that the government sell arms to make money from war but can't seem to fathom that the government would push an agenda for big pharma...? I'm not saying the vaccines don't work and aren't based on science, they definitely work in the same sense any other vaccine does but are they really as necessary, as effective and as SAFE as the government or big pharma made out to begin with?
These are just questions and I think valid ones, I don't blame people for questioning the vaccine. How can you expect anyone to trust the government? How can you expect anyone to trust big pharma? And as much as I hate to say it, when it comes to something like this (especially when there are doctors who are antivaxxers) how can you trust your doctor?
I think it's absolutely valid to question it and I don't blame anyone for being dubious. Hell, looking at the current death statistics for the US, it looks like there are more people dying of CVD per day than covid. A healthy lifestyle is the best way to prevent heart disease and yet you don't see the government putting as much effort and money into promoting this and YES that's because of big pharma. You can't make money of off people who don't need medication! Doctors aren't the problem, they are only doing the best they can given an individual's circumstances and its true you can't treat a heart attack with a healthy lifestyle... Which is just a horrible example. You're comparing preventative health measures with acute treatment which is a false equivalency.
Anyway rant over, still love the doctor and the content.
Got diagnosed with GERD about two years ago and was 32 at the time. The doctor gave me prescription meds to take for when I feel terrible. Watched a Dr. Eric Berg video and he said to try apples cider vinegar with water 1-2 times a day.
