This was a pretty informative video. BUT FYI Ankarsrum suggest to tighten the thumb nut pretty tightly on these attachments.
The reason is you could damage the attachment and/or the mixer itself if the attachment somehow* came loose during operation! *(for instance if you accidentally bump it)
Good call!! Thank you 🙂
I just bought the Ankarsrum and loving it! My next purchase will be the flaker! Thank you for the demonstration!
I am so glad you are enjoying your mixer. It is an excellent piece of equipment. 😍
Helpful!! Thank you!
You are welcome. 🤩
Very interesting.
It makes the best flakes for oatmeal.🙂
@@Tracy-Hart I just got the Ankarshrum mixer, I love it, and you just sold me on getting this attachment - Thanks
That is so cool! I have a new Ankarshrum so just getting used to it.
What attachments would you recommend? Is this flaker worth it? Thank you!
I guess it depends on how often you eat oatmeal or use oats/oat flour in your baking and cooking. I enjoy using freshly milled wheat in ingredients so I am now happy to add fresh rolled oats to my list of available fresh goods. 😍
Good luck with the Ank. It is a fantastic helper to have in the kitchen.
Do you know if you also run steel cut oats through the Ank flaker?
I haven't tested it but I would think you can. I'd email Ankarsrum and ask to be certain.
Nice video! Can the gap between the rollers be adjusted slightly larger/smaller on this flaker?
There is actually only one roller and it presses against a piece inside to flatten the oat groat.
@@Tracy-HartPer Ankarsrum customer service, the flaker is not adjustable.
@@DeeSperling thanks Dee for catching my mistake. I think I accidentally responded to the wrong question 🙈
What color is your mixer?
I'm not sure to be honest with you. The base color is black but I don't remember the other part of the name. I apologize.
Thank you!
I have a question! So I have an Ank and we buy lots of oatmeal however oatmeal's relatively inexpensive and easy to get. What advantages are there of flaking one's own oats and where can one easily buy the pre-flaked oats (husks or whatever you called them)? Also, what other foods can be flaked? Thanks!

Look at this link....as far a flaking other items, I have never researched it. 🤩
Fresh self rolled oats are a lot healthier because it is less processed than store-bought.
The nutritional value of freshly rolled oats *(such as vitamin A, minerals, calcium, and iron) is significantly higher than in store-bought oatmeal
On top of that store-bought oatmeal usually has more added salt & sugar in oatmeal.
I have heard that flaking your own has greater nutritional value.
