“rayman was invented by a 13 year old game-making prodigy who traveled the paris metro alone and took a mysterious limousine to meet a guy at a castle” ??? what
Rayman 2 was a masterpiece. Easily one of my favorite games ever. I wish other versions kept the weird language the N64 version had instead, though. If Ubisoft made another 3D Rayman like the 2nd game, I would buy it in a heartbeat.
I never actually played 3, so 2 (The Great Escape) was my only contact with 3D Rayman games. It's lovely, I still have the soundtrack in my playlists and listen to it from time to time (great instrumental soundtrack to do art things to). The universe of Rayman 2 is awesome, full of magic and cool tech (the robot pirates), and in the game itself the sense of adventure is so fun.
@@quillsftw It's been a _while_ since I played either of them, but I strongly remember being of the opinion that Rayman 3 expanded and improved on pretty much everything we got in Rayman 2. Now, I'm definitely biased, because 3 is one of the first games I've ever played, but I think it had better and more diverse worlds, better music, better visuals (obviously) but also it just felt like a natural evolution of the art style. The most important thing in the list is definitely the combat. The enemies are a lot more interesting and life-like, and fighting them is more fun. The way they spread out and all attack you at the same time, and that they all have different attacks and ways to defeat them. The bosses are also more creative.
@@viktorthevictor6240 i think my issue with 3 was the power ups all being on a timer which made most of the game a mini time trial. And some of the power ups were permanent abilities in 2 like the swing. It made 2 feel more fluid where 3 felt more like it was divided into sections. The main villain (Andre) was more annoying as a character as well. With R2 I liked the darker story and style as well as the combat. Backtracking back to the cave of bad dreams sticks in my head and i loved it. 2 was significantly more difficult halfway through the game but I’m not using that as an argument for or against it, just a comparison. I could be biased as well for 2 was the first one I played.

rayman and abes oddysee! 2 of the hardest games to ever exist! but rayman was almost impossible to beat without knowing every level and dying 100 times
Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends have an incredible art style that ensures they will remain timeless. Games like them, Wind Waker, Okami, Castle Crashers, Hollow Knight, and Cuphead prove how valuable good art direction can be in ensuring a game's longevity. Games that focus on realism might be more impressive looking in the short term, but they lose their luster quickly and become outdated as technology improves
