As a licensed electrician and having worked on industrial controls for much of my career I'm impressed with your troubleshooting and electrical knowledge. Many techs I run into are lacking in that expertise. Be careful and hope you enjoyed the rest of your Fathers Day .
Happy Father's day to you Mikey! I truly enjoy your videos - I feel like I always learn something - and most of all what that is- is this ---that there is still one person out their who cares about the quality of work he does and that his client/customers receive excellent service and solution to problems. I wish that was a universal standard of all those people we call and relay on to help us in time of need. We can't do it all ourselves that's ahy we count on you. I hope you not only continue being who you are but that you also instill in others, doing this work, to have the ethics you live and work by as a professional. Thank you because you allow people to be able to rest peacefully once you provide your service. Respect, Joy & Peace to you always.

6:37 that's where a non-contact tester is a helper, wave it near the condenser/s and disconnect/s before touching anything. in case the ground is bad and whole unit or disconnect housing is live. when in doubt always shut off the breakers first, then go touching and testing.
They gave you so much room to work on that unit like I worked on the unit to the other day. The fence was like 2 inches away from it. I had them removed the fence before I could work on. It came back another day and found a bad contactor with the wires, all burnt off.
Happy Fathers Day. He also has an airflow issue based on the whistling noise when he turned it on.Hot water coils in an attic is risky. Gotta love the threaded rod in the way of pulling the blower motor.
I can honestly say that yes 120V will give you a nice little tingle. Felt it a couple times when I was a kid playing with the wall plug for a VCR. Also felt it when I stuck my finger in a lamp socket.
Happy Fathers day from Houston TX. The season starts here early. It's 100 miles an hour. I'm commercial, and start my on call week tomorrow. Hell week we call it. 90 to 100 hours. Hacks make us stacks! Love ya Bro. No Homo.
Happy Father’s Day Might have overheated that compressor on the 2nd call. Overload opened up a winding cool the compressor with water until the switch closes back then restart Love ya buddy you do good work
Nice for the Informational videos, love watching them from Reardan, Washington. I have a similar problem on a compfortotal mini split. The compressor won't come on, it tries then the overload kicks it off and it will try again in about 3-4 minutes. Its pulling 20 amp on each hot wire, 1p 220volt. LRA is 24. I also tried the hard start kit still wouldn't start it. the ohms on the compressor winding are 4.3 3.5 and 7.4 all I can figure out is the compressor seized up. only 1.5 years old
As a tech for over 20 years it seems the calls that should take the least amount of time take the most when I'm short on time ........Also Happy Father's day.
I really wonder how did the customer react to that trane failure. Because you guys were there few days ago for maintenance and someone forgot to connect cap wires and now locked rotor and system is installed by you 7 years ago… ohh man I hope they weren’t mad at you 😅 Happy Father’s day Mikey good hussle. I can sense that you are tired and overworked I hope you take a nice break soon
@@PipeDoctorI know you are pissed having to replace that unit, but you did the right thing. I remember when I worked as an auto technician back in the late 70’s and 80’s, if I “F” up, it came out of my paycheck.
Happy father's day to you, Mikey Pikes. Quick question. on the second one, when you service the units and then went back to check it out. and told them that their pump was bad. How do you deal with them crying? And they don't say you just serviced it a couple of days, and we spent all this money? Do they complain like there's no tomorrow? And what do you do? Thank you.
Happy Fathers Day Mike, how did you go about explaining this to the customer that the capacitor was unplugged then the compressor was bad. Had a situation like this last week.
I didn't explain that one yet. I explained that I tried everything possible to get the compressor to start and I will check warranty status on Monday (tomorrow)
SOMEONE DROPPED THE BALL ON THOSE LOOSE WIRES SAW SMALL ARK MARK ON CLAMP 120 on low voltage wire THIS COULD HAVE BEEN YOUR LAST FATHERS DAY MIKEY THANK THE A/C GODS YOU WALKED AWAY OK HAPPY FATHERS DAY
There's another HVAC RUclipsr based in South Carolina that runs over those Nest thermostats with his truck tire, whenever he encounters one. Do you carry a Honeywell thermostat that also has WiFi connectivity?
Happy Fathers Day Mike, You should buy a lottery ticket, you can run 1000 no ac calls before you get zapped by line voltage from the condenser low voltage wire like that. Also fuck installers labeling anything, I HATE working on the wrong unit. I bet that 8 system house was labeled. Thx for filming a good call.
thanks so much! Lottery ticket, hummm....done on the Jackpocket app! Bought Pick 10, Take 5 Eve, Win 4 Eve, Lotto, Mega, Power - spent something like $10 - wish me luck. If I win ANYTHING, I will share 10% with you for giving me the luck!
Those maintenance techs need to learn the load calculations so they dont have to check the capacitor unplugging it. 2652 x amps ÷ volts = MFD Great job on that first call, glad you didn't get zipped too bad.
yeah, it was only 110 volts - remember ladies, its not the volts but the amperage that can get you. I teach testing dynamically - not disconnecting the cap risking an issue.
Happy Father’s Day Mikey, although I’m Palestinian, and I don’t care for your politics, what the hell does that have to do with HVAC right? 😂 truth is, I love your videos, keep em coming!

I don’t understand how the electrical system works for the hvac system it’s just a mystery to me. The compressor was not sounding good at all, even though I can’t really hear it from the phone audio I’m going on your reaction to the sound.
I'm not sure that was anyone's fault, other than a failed capacitor/corroded terminal connection. granted the HV/LV wiring should have been separated better, with the LV wires farther away from high current areas, like capacitor and HV wiring to/from contactor to capacitor/compressor. granted, they're allowed to build and ship them as such, as long as it's all the proper rated wiring, as that shows burn throughs and cross-connected voltages can happen!
Well?? I don’t know the story other than what you showed but that scroll, compressor should of made more 7 years but if she got a good shot of liquid back that does a number on the valves an scroll.. but regardless it’s …A …update to a new system or B put 1/2 the price of a new system in replacement of compressor an blow the lines an vap coil clean… I usually push for a new system but if the customer wants to blow 50% to repair the existing?? You said you jumped out C to Y. I’m hoping you meant R to Y. Happy Father’s Day. Damn that dog needs cataract surgery. Lol.
R to Y

Sometimes those maintenance contracts bite the contractor that is using to protect themselves with........
Why were the wires off of the capacitor? Is this a new employee’s handiwork?
Yes it was.

Yes. The Honeywell 9000
Is it worth offering the best clients who keep that pool in your home at 90 degrees the option to borrow a window or portable AC?
If needed
Someone else also determined compressor was shot, you were called to verify...reason wires off..just guessing
you think between Friday and Saturday night? I doubt it. But I will find out tomorrow when I ask Anderson and show him the video.
Yeah, you use the wrong arm to pull that disconnect 🤣

True

Sure the compressor wasn’t off on high temp from trying to run without cap?
Breaker was tripped
On a Sunday and Father’s Day $800 in 2hr . That’s bout right .for the 1st job with 120v in the low voltage line .
under that for labor, I charged our standard rate for the service call and regular trip charge.
