One of the greatest Heavyweights of all time! Larry Holmes had incredible longevity, most people thought his career was completely over when he lost his title to Michael Spinks but Holmes would return and perform very well against the likes of Evander Holyfield, Ray Mercer and Oliver McCall. Truly one of the greats, The Easton Assassin past his prime but still great! www.patreon.com/haNZAgod

Holmes was a living testament how rock solid boxing fundametals can give you longevity even when the athleticism starts going away. The way he was taunting Ray Mercer on the ropes ("Come on! Come on boy!") inbetween giving him a boxing lession is just legendary.

Holmes is one of my favorite fighters. The man was a true champion and retired healthy, on his own terms with a win. What he did throughout his 40s was incredible. He dominated a prime version of undefeated Merciless Mercer and schooled the likes of Ferguson, Ribalta and Harris. Unfortunately, he was robbed against Spinks in their second fight and against Nielsen. He also gave lessons in boxing to both juiced up Holyfield and McCall while they were peaking. Those two fights were very close and could've gone either way.

With that being said I think the past prime version of Holmes would always lose to Tyson, just taking away from the win a bit because of when Tyson fought him.

A great fighter who unfortunately will be remembered as a bitter Ali clone (though better technically in terms of fundamental skills) who took shots at Marciano when he failed to break the infamous 49-0 record

Yeah I know Holmes is great and all, but he's such a bitter guy it's hard for me to praise him

It is natural that he is ''bitter'' when Tyson and Ali fanboys (most casuals fans) try so hard to discredit his 29 years career just because he beat the shit out of Ali when it was Ali that asked Larry to accept the fight because he needed the money and because Tyson beat him when Larry had been out of the ring for 2 years and had only trained 3 weeks for the fight. But like it or not, he's alongside Louis and Ali, the best heavyweight of all times.

@@T1Creator Holmes beat a Parkinson’s suffering Ali who went on to lose to Trevor Berbick whereas tyson beat a fit and healthy Holmes who went on to give a prime Holyfield a tough fight and beat Ray mercer. Tyson was just better it’s as simple as that

Marciano got his record padded with bums and has beens. Also the Mob was behind him his whole carrer. So Larry was very right about Marciano.

Unpopular opinion - Larry Holmes was a lot better than Muhammad Ali!

Holmes was about as orthodox and technically refined / basic as you can get! Fantastic jab and a right hand, could win a fight with just the jab alone.
