Finally! A REAL person doing an honest video about their buying experience, equipment, and showing all parts of their boat. Loved it. Refreshing. Much appreciated!
Thank you for taking the time to make this video. I've been searching and researching boats to upgrade to for about 3 months. Hours a day. Your video really helps me answer a lot of questions. Much appreciated. Enjoy it! and make vids of your fishing trips. I'll follow you.
Awesome boat! I had my mind set on a Kingfisher but after seeing this boat, WOW! I am definitely looking at The Duckworth. Thanks for taking the time to make this video. Its appreciated.
Thanks Alan! Glad you liked it. This video took me a lot of time to make, So i'm really glad you appreciate it! Kingfishers are awesome boats! There is a lot of great boats out there. Tight lines!
Great video for someone has never filmed that way. Thats exactly what I was searching for. Im a woman I dont know much, NOTHING about boat and you mastered at explaining it for women like me lol thanks
Outstanding review. I'm looking to buy a duckworth in the next few years as well. And you are right, there is like very limited information on these boats as well as others. So thank you for taking the time to show off your boat and for providing additional information on the buying process.
Joel, you're a rockstar. You built the exact boat I've been dreaming about for year. Now I know I'm not crazy. I am talking to Rieholz currently. Thank you sir. Stay safe!
Awesome! This boat has been so much fun! Glad you enjoyed the video! Rienhold will take good care of you. I just saw him, and talked to him at the Seattle Boat show yesterday.
This was a great vid to put in the 'Ol Gray Matter. Looks like a great fun Boat. Although I'm a Sailor which is a totally different world for different reasons, I think you make a great case to have a Duckworth Offshore somewhere to make her debut in my armchair fleet. Keep up the great video's! Thanks for a job well done!!
This is such a great video and has helped me in so many ways. You are correct that there are very few videos to educate someone who is in the market to purchase a boat. I am getting ready to purchase a Duckworth 24 Offshore, your video has me rethinking on size. Well done!
This was an informative video! Especially from a buyer that spect your own boat. I like the details of the options and why you chose them. I have been looking at the Duckworth Offshore boats for awhile and would also like to know how they do in rough seas. Thanks and tight lines
I got into fishing a few months ago. I have been researching boats for a few weeks. I was leaning towards an Alumaweld Intruder. But man! Your boat is awesome!
chillone3Ls Welcome to the world of fishing. It is a great way of life! Intruders are good boats. They sell those at the same place I got mine. Tight lines!
Absolutely beautiful boat. A fisherman's dream boat for sure. Hey, great job on the video shooting/editing also. I know I'll never own a boat quite as grandiose as yours, but it's still good to see what features are useful/needed when you're shopping.
You once you get your routine down and get into redundancy on. You are going to be a very very efficient on saving time on your expedition, my friend who recently passed away, had this boat and once we figured it out, it was not uncommon for us to limit out in a few hours and I'm not kidding. You are going to have the experience of a lifetime and I am excited for you . Stay healthy and enjoy!!! Fish on sincerely kev
Good time of the day Sir.. like you said, you don't seem to be professional youtuber, but I'm sure it doesn't matter to anyone here.. what really matters is that you are very honest, covered pretty much all the details and made me want to get something similar to your boat (it's awesome). I think you did better than most of professional youtubers, and seem to be nice guy just like those other guys you mentioned who were helping you buy this treasure.. I enjoyed this video a lot.. 1 thing i was curious about (if not a secret of course) how much was the grand total and any regrets on any product during this 2 years? Thank you!
Hey Everybody! Just want to say thanks for all the kind words about the video! It just hit 200 likes, and has almost 19,000 views. That blows me away. When I first made it, I didn’t know if anyone would watch it, or like it. I have received a bunch of comments saying it helped some of you with decisions.I’m really glad it helped so many of you. 11/19/2019
Hey I have the same boat, I purchased the fish fighter anchor nest. Curious if you had to modify it to get it to to mount like you did? Or is the width wider on your boat?
Joel, really appreciate the time and effort you made making this video...agree that there is little in depth on buying and outfitting a fishing boat on the net. Thanks for helping to fill that void.
Thank you for the straight-forward and honest review. Tired of going to boat shows where I want to see X brand, but all they have are three fully loaded (like Cadillacs) models. Um, I am more of a Chevy/Buick guy. Like aluminum hall boats - great for Minnesotas rocky shorelines.
I also bought a Duckworth 26 Offshore fron Reinhold at 3Rivers. I completely agree with Joel, Reinhold is an awesome guy to work with and buy a boat from.
Joel, Best walk though video I have ever seen. I just recently bought the little silent cousin to your big Duck, the Northwest boats 22' signature outboard. They are made by Renesaonce also. Great boat, fantastic fit and finish and everything we ever needed. I also installed all the accessories myself which had me all over inside the boats hidden places. When I come down for Bouy 10 in August and see that big beautiful boat I will troll on over and say high.
Nice job Joe for your first presentation & good job editing i like your attitude get what makes you happy. Your outro music is the same as outdoors with the Morgan's another RUclipsr who has a great channel. So what's the base price of one of these shells? Nice rig by the way only 5600 lbs. Wow!!
Outstanding review,,thanks for you time in making it..I have a 2825 Kingfisher but like yours too, fish on Lake Michigan, also like all the info on your gear you added. No one has done such a good job as you.
Thank you so much! I am so happy about the responses from this video! Kingfisher makes awesome boats! I bet that boat is fun as hell on the Great Lakes!!!
I dont have a cockpit steering station, so in bad weather when I want to sit and steer inside, I clip a bell onto the rod tip area, and it alerts me far better than watching through the window, and not watching for flotsam, and logs
Great video! I am in the hunt for a boat much like yours, thank you for the great information for the decision making on features. Knowing where you are operating, have you considered (perhaps you have?) taking some footage of motoring in and out of the ‘infamous’ mouth there in Astoria? I grew up fishing out of Newport OR and still remember my dad and his friends talking about how treacherous the water was during the big water exchanges. One thing I might have missed : is your boat self-bailing or pumped? I’m thinking self-bailing is what I want but I also want high gunnels.. thoughts?
Hi Dave, I made an “over the top video” about fishing out of the Columbia! Haha Look at my “Columbia river bar” video. In hindsight, I took way too much time for it. But I hope it helps!!!
I recently bought a used 2018 Weldcraft 260 cuddy king. It came with twin Yamaha 150s. I am considering repowering to the 200s. I have the longer cabin with stand-up head, the 160-gallon fuel tank. My fish box is smaller due to cabin length, but I also use the bleeder box. I am curious about the 4 bladed prop. Instead of the 3 blades. How is your fuel economy / mph at cruise power? I cruise at 24 knots at 4,300, about 12 gallons per hour.
Thanks for doing the video Joel! Yeah,I'm in the same situation. There's only so much you can find online. I'm kinda limited as to what boats I can look at down here in the S.F.bay area. All the good boats are up north. Thanks Joel!
You are very welcome David! Glad you liked it! It's really amazing that there is not more aluminum boat builders in the Bay area! Ohhh well, Gives ya a reason to take a killer road trip!
@@joelmarchello3709 I used to run a 25 Skipjack years ago. I want to go aluminum this time. There are two dealers down here, one has Duckworth and Kingfisher, the other has North River and Hewes craft, but they hardly have any good boats, or only one at a time. A road trip is definitely in my near future. Fish on!
Great in depth video. I’m curious why Duckworth over other brands like kingfisher or Wooldridge? Was is something particular that lead you to this brand or more of a Chevy vs Ford battle? I’m looking to upgrade in the next five or so years. I want something we can cruise up and down the inside passage of southeast Alaska. Again thanks for sharing your journey and thoughts on your boat.
Why Duckworth? Honestly, I'm not exactly sure. I am just a boat guy, When I fish the Columbia river its like watching a parade. I just sit there and admire boats. (no matter how big or small, new or old, expensive or cheap) I just like boats! Years ago when Duckworth came out with the Offshore series I started seeing them and said "one day"....
Awesome job with this video! So glad to find like-minded individuals. I am in the market myself and just got back from island View Resort out of Sitka. All of their fleet of 6 boats and most other boats I saw at the marinas were North River. I have had a Duckworth jet in the past but my curiosity makes me wonder if you compared the two for ride and performance or was it just a personal decision to go with Duckworth?
Great Video! My wife and I are thinking of renting a boat in Valdez first before we seriously consider buying. Been offshore charter fishing a few times, along with spending 6 days on a cabin cruiser from Ketchikan to Juneau but have never owned a boat. We were thinking of a boat that would be good for trolling along with overnight stays. I totally agree with you that a boat or electronics brand is similar to the Ford vs Chevy thing. Can you share why you chose Duckworth rather than the other options built in the pacific north west?
Chuck Karl Hello Sir, and welcome to the dark side! Haha. (Boat ownership). Being on a boat and/or cleaning a boat in your own driveway is as rewarding as time on the water actually using it (in my opinion). There are a lot of good electronics out there. I feel like most people use a very small fraction of the capabilities of their electronics. Most models will treat you right if you know how to work them! Your driveway is the best place to learn the functions! You want it to be “muscle memory” when you hit the water. Why Duckworth? I will start out by saying, I love most the boat models and designs I see here in the Pacific Northwest! I just love boats! Fishing season is like a parade to me. Duckworth has a very strong reputation, and an amazing “fit and finish”. They are a smooth riding boat due to the deadrise on the bow, a good reverse chine, and a lot of things that help people that play in big water. Their customer service is amazing. They let me go to the factory as it was being built, and I am really happy with it.
Thank you Sir! I’m glad you like the video. The boat has been amazing. It really is a dream come true. I had been working towards it for a very long time. And we have a lot of fun with it. Wish ya all the best. Tight lines!
HI Joel, I have twin 150's and have thought about trying 4-blade props like you have. Did you run it with 3-blade props? Do you get more lift? Better mpg? Is it noticable? Thanks!
Brian Woodward I bought it with the 4 blade props. They were recommended by the dealer. So unfortunately I can’t give you an honest comparison. You are definitely on track with the expectations of 4 blade compared to 3 (Lift, mpg’s, response). Wish I could’ve been more help. Tight lines
@@joelmarchello3709 shortly after I commented on this we sold our boat and went to 3 Rivers, met Kasey, and ordered a Duckworth XL 30. My experience is similar to yours.... 3 Rivers has been great to work with! We should be taking delivery in the next few weeks.
I boat like is a dream of mine. I fish close to shors on Lake Michigan now and the Mississippi river I dream of something with a Pilot house. Congrats on a beautiful boat! Tight Lines and Happy fishing!
I enjoyed this vid. You did a good job. I live down here on the Texas coast. I like this style boat although they are not too common here on the third coast. I wonder if the cabin can have an A/C unit installed? Would be critical here! How much we talking for something like your rig? I’m guessing you’re north of 100K or right at it.
Glad ya liked the video! Thanks for the compliment. I am not sure about A/C.... I have never needed it. In the Pacific Northwest the breeze through the windows and door have been enough for anything I have been faced with. HOWEVER, That probably wouldn’t cut it on the third coast! Y’all see some extremes!!! That’s why your center consoles and a good wet hat are so popular! Price.... run ya about 160ish + electronics.
@pitchpocket Sorry for the slow reply, Some people said the audio was too loud, so I took it down to adjust the volume, But haven't had time to repost yet. I would be glad to give you access to the original video. I'm not positive that I know how to do that, But I think I need to e-mail it to you. Send me a e-mail joelmarchello@yahoo.com and I will try to get it to you.
Fantastic first video and awesome boat! I wouldn’t say the design applies to me and my situation, but that doesn’t matter. I wish you many years of happiness and successful fishing trips. Nice job!
Weldcraft and Duckworth are VERY similar boats. They are even made in the same factory. Duckworth has 3 windshields, Weldcraft has 2 (similar to North River). Duckworth's cabin windows are square, Weldcraft are tilted... Neither of those things matter much, Mainly just personal preference. I'm sure there are other differences, But in the end, They are VERY similar.
Joel - enjoyed your video. Appreciated the tip for the Fish Fighter anchor windlass system - I bought a 24 Offshore last July, and haven't got one installed yet. I think the best feature of the Duckworth is the design of the bow and bottom. When at speed and your launching off a wave in rough water - the boat just eases itself back into the water with no shock and slap-banging. What little compression there is - is erased with those fabulous suspension seats. Nice video thanks.
I'm glad you liked it Don. You absolutely right about the Bow and Bottom! Your wording describes it very well. The Fish Fighter Products anchor nest was just barely too wide for the opening on the boat. I had to remove a couple screws and countersink them for it to work. (wasn't a big deal), But Chuck with FFP said he could make one a little thinner. I would just give them a call if you get one. Tight lines!
Hey Joel, what a terrific video! I was wondering if you could help me out. I just purchased an Offshore 26 and I want to fabricate a diesel aluminum fuel tank and add a Wallas Heater. Can you provide me the dimensions of the tank in your video so that I can weld one up? Thanks a ton and keep the awesome videos coming!
Very interesting movie. You are the first person to shoot a good and informative video about the Duckworh Offshore boat. How does this boat behave in the wake?
I would say it does really good in the wake. But I must admit that I don't have a lot of experience with comparable boats. my last boat was a 21 foot Boulton, So this Offshore is in a completely different category. I fish the mouth of the Columbia river, And the Pacific ocean. We definitely get some Tough weather and some Rough sea's. The boat seems really solid! Glad you liked the video! Thanks for commenting!
I would want Diesel main motors too if I got a diesel heater it would be a pain to have to fill that little tank one fuel for everything would have diesel stove too !!
Seems like the ultimate fishing rig. I hope you're making money selling all the fish you catch. It would take me a lifetime to save up for a boat like that probably.
TheStreamlinetyr I have been trying to stay active, and put out a few new ones. Glad ya like them! I appreciate the support. I’m looking forward to doing some Salmon and Tuna video’s as we are coming into season.
I think it would do great. I use it on the Columbia River under some pretty strong current at times. Just remember to use some chain and plenty of rope so you get a good angle (scope). I usually go about 7’ of rope per 1’ water depth. Also, Fish Fighter Products also sells some things you can attach to the 4 corners of the anchor to make them bigger.
@@joelmarchello3709 ok thank you gonna give that one a try, love your video and how detailed it was, probably gonna do the exact same anchor and nest like you did, obviously you did your research. Looks great looking forward to new content!
I have been happy with it, This year I repainted the anchor, which is kind of expected because it’s been riding up front in salt water for 2-1/2 years. And just a “heads up”... When I first got the anchor nest, I had to remove a couple screws and countersink them in order for it to fit. I contacted the company and they said they would change the design a bit so other Offshore owners wouldn’t need to do anything extra. I’m pretty sure they did, but let me know if you have any issues getting it in. I will help ya out.
Thanks Carl! I'm glad you liked the video. Its really cool to see that people are watching this and commenting. I didn't know if that would happen, It's my first youtube video. Tight lines!!!
Awesome! glad ya liked it. This video took me quite a while to make because I'm not very good on computers, But I'm working on it. I recently posted a video about Dungeness crab. Check it out if you're into that. Its called "Everything Dungeness Crab".
Hi Mike. These are “Turning Point 3150. 15x15”... I haven’t had any problems with them. But to be honest with you, I don’t have much experience with other props, and I don’t know much about them. These were a recommendation from the dealer.
Hey Everyone, Thanks for the support on this video! I have been amazed by all the positive responses! I just made a really in-depth video about the Columbia River. It has a lot of boating safety tips. Check it out if that appeals to you. (You might notice that I'm learning how to make better video's) ruclips.net/video/9SVmXFl6CuU/видео.html
Do what I did....I ordered the flotation pods from Cabelas (on sale) and had a local welder put them on my 14ft Jon. Now I have a 15ft ! Little by little, we'll get there !!

They are a smooth riding boat due to the deadrise on the bow, a good reverse chine, and a lot of things that help people that play in big water. Their customer service is amazing. They let me go to the factory as it was being built, and I am really happy with it.
Thanks for sharing your secrets. Good work.
Do you feel safe going 30 miles offshore (weather permitting), for tuna, with a 26' boat?
Lawrence makes cameras to view the back deck. Very nice boat similar to my kingfisher.
I will look for those camera's. Thanks! Kingfisher's are awesome boats!
Thank you for elaborating on the buying process 👍🏽
Love the video. My dream is to own a boat like this. You're a lucky man.
@@ThatPNWlyfe WHOAAAA! CONGRATS!!! Go big, or go home huh? I can't wait to see it! What color?

I boat like is a dream of mine. I fish close to shors on Lake Michigan now and the Mississippi river I dream of something with a Pilot house. Congrats on a beautiful boat! Tight Lines and Happy fishing!
Thank you! I would love to fish the great lakes! A Pilot house boat would be epic out there! Good luck fishing!

Good luck fishin! Keep tight lines
Hi Joel, Tried to click the link to the in depth video about the CR but it says it's private. Any chance you would provide access?
@pitchpocket Sorry for the slow reply, Some people said the audio was too loud, so I took it down to adjust the volume, But haven't had time to repost yet. I would be glad to give you access to the original video. I'm not positive that I know how to do that, But I think I need to e-mail it to you. Send me a e-mail joelmarchello@yahoo.com and I will try to get it to you.
Excellent review, great job!
Very helpful. Thank you.
You’re welcome. Glad to help!
How much did this cost, I’m researching now but I can never find any price points to get an idea.
Great Video and a very honest review.
Fantastic first video and awesome boat! I wouldn’t say the design applies to me and my situation, but that doesn’t matter. I wish you many years of happiness and successful fishing trips. Nice job!
Biff Johnson Thank you very much! Yes, this boat is kind of specific to the Pacific Northwest. Glad you liked the video. Tight lines!
Great video and very informative. Beautiful boat 😁👍
Thank you! And thanks for being reply #100 on the video.
AWSOME video man thank you sooo much big LOVE
You are very welcome! Glad ya liked it.
Nice boat! Good review! One question! Why this boat and not Weldcraft 260 Cuddy King?
Weldcraft and Duckworth are VERY similar boats. They are even made in the same factory. Duckworth has 3 windshields, Weldcraft has 2 (similar to North River). Duckworth's cabin windows are square, Weldcraft are tilted... Neither of those things matter much, Mainly just personal preference. I'm sure there are other differences, But in the end, They are VERY similar.
@@joelmarchello3709 Thank you!
Very nice video. Very nice boat.
Great Video for a great boat!
I went fishing there like 1.5 weeks ago
I know from the bridge salmon fishing? I fought and reeled in a 10 pound king
Great video and nice boat, ya bastard. 🤪🤪🤪🤪
We thank you. Well done
Yeah I can do that. E-mail me your contact info to joelmarchello@yahoo.com. I send ya some pictures and dimensions
P.s. I’m not sure why that last reply came from my “practical cook page”. But the e-mail address I sent is correct
Really nice boat! Thanks
Awesome video.
Do it with a Whaler Conquest next time.
Good info, what is your range on a full tank of fuel loaded down?
you did a great job on your video, you really did your homework, go catch some fish
Thank you for making this video; helped me tremendously; great information.
I am really glad it helped. It’s been so cool to see the positive reactions. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I was making it.
I would want Diesel main motors too if I got a diesel heater it would be a pain to have to fill that little tank one fuel for everything would have diesel stove too !!
Nice job and good looking boat!
Very nice boat! Still like it after a couple years? thank you for your time.
Still loving it! A couple small things I would do differently if I was to do it again. I have even considered making a video about that.
Seems like the ultimate fishing rig. I hope you're making money selling all the fish you catch. It would take me a lifetime to save up for a boat like that probably.
Make some more videos. Love the ones in processing crabs
TheStreamlinetyr I have been trying to stay active, and put out a few new ones. Glad ya like them! I appreciate the support. I’m looking forward to doing some Salmon and Tuna video’s as we are coming into season.
Joel Marchello one think I wish eastern Washington had was an ocean. All we have is lake pend oreille.
How would you say that handles 3-5 footers?
No problem! I live on 3-5 footers! haha But seriously, No problem, I fish the buoy 10 area and the ocean all the time.
I ended up coming back 60 miles on 5-6 foot with a wind chop on a Albacore run. It wasn't fun, But never felt threatened.
Are both of your fishboxes insulated?
Only the floor box is insulated... The back one is big enough for small coolers or insulated cooler bags.
Wow, beautiful boat!
What do you think of that anchor on a duckworth 28 offshore for ocean? Do you think it’s fine for offshore fishing?
@@joelmarchello3709 sounds great I appreciate that!
Thanks man… sweet boat
God I wish I had one of these boots I can't afford one but I'd sure like to have one I would like to go up the inside passage with one

Awesome! glad ya liked it. This video took me quite a while to make because I'm not very good on computers, But I'm working on it. I recently posted a video about Dungeness crab. Check it out if you're into that. Its called "Everything Dungeness Crab".
Great video
What 4 blade props are you running? You like em?
