I bought a Miller-Matic new in 1981, and learned how to use it...only 2 'controls'...voltage switch and wire feed speed dial...not even a 'chart' in the inner door, but it did come with receptacle for the Miller Spool gun......a friend of mine with a mo-cycle repair shop bought one too...says he..."Mig machines have made welders out of a lot of 'mechanics'" ...so now this one makes MIG welders out of everyone...!
That LCD screen is handy, especially the white weld shape in the bead. I hope this has a decent on-off switch, every job I ever had with a welder, especially MIG power sources/units...the toggle switch was broken off from guys trying to operate it with their foot....some industrial equipment has a guard so you can't do that, but I've never seen one on a welder....
You were on our prayers and glad to see you dry and safe.
Very cool machine!
After you're reviewing, i bought the same welding machine : )) Thank you !!!
great review
Thanks for sharing. Have a good weekend. Thanks Jim.
Some cool features on the screen for that machine
Great Video
I was shopping for a Mig Welding machine today and I saw this Lincoln Power Mig 260. I decided to check a few RUclips reviews . Your video is the best . Going to purchase it on Monday and use it in my bat cave.
Thanks for making this video.
You got a new sub.
How have you liked the welder? Any issues. If so what? Thanks in advance!
Great review
Went to my local weld store, Matheson Gas Supply, and talked to a guy there (I'm bad with remembering names) and he gave me some details on this welder. Just wasn't sure what I wanted till I watched this video. Guess I'll be going back to purchase this. It's definitely what I need.
Just bought one of these, thank you for a helpful video!
Impressive, I've mig welded over thirty years. Wish they had that welder before I retired. I always adjusted my own settings, but that only comes with experience. Even some of the dummies I have worked with could lay a decent bead with that machine. They sure couldn't with the ones we had at work.
I run one every day at work soon gonna add one to my shop very impressive machine
Good video Jim
Enjoy your content 👍
Very nice.
Looks like a nice mig welding machine.
If you guys call your local welding store like Praxair etc. they’ll let you demo a new machine and sell it at a discount if you decide you want it. They usually have many demos out in the area. Check on them. That bottle rack is really for the 356cf tanks but it’s nice.
I work with this machine that my job recently I purchased strictly for Aluminum welding but im having a difficult time keeping steady voltage and melts the .090 & .125 thick aluminum like butter
You need to take that machine with you to Texas.
Well the ground clamp needs replaced the ground leed needs to be replaced with a longer one and the bottle tray needs welded before you drop a bottle and changing wire is a fun one you will find that if you set up all the memorie first then you don't have to spend all your time adjusting it and cover the fancy little screen and the big knobs and replace the gun that has easy to find parts tweako
I have the Power Mig 300 . It looks like they've made lots of improvements on the newer machines.
Good machinne.
nice!! 💪 👷🏻
Whoever give a thumbs down for $2,400 this is a hell of a machine I don't care if it's Transformer based or inverter based
So these machines used to be $2400? Now they are over $4000 and I’m about to buy one.
I'm looking for a new welder but the computer screen scares me , How reliable will it be ? and how expensive will it be when the screen goes kaput ?
Great video and illustration on how voltage and amperage affect the weld.
PS I have been concerned about how you fared the latest hurricane, I presume that since this video has come out that you and your family are safe and sound.
We were way east and South. Thanks for checking.
does this machine do stick?? what thickness of steel could it do ??
Awesome welder. How much will it set on back to purchase the welder
One thing I don't like and not just on this welder here but a few other Megs Lincoln and Miller is they only allow you to go up to 3/16 I believe in this machine with 030 with the automated settings so that makes it kind of difficult because I well do most everything with 030 and I find that works good for me I find that 035 wire put out up too much filler when welding now maybe on big thick pieces that's good but your average 3/8 quarter inch and down over 030 is plenty but it doesn't even give you that option it stops you at 3/16 I was letting they were letting me try this out at a welding shop as a demo didn't actually use the machine but I seen it power on and all the functionality of it so you have to go into manual mode and I don't know if it gives you the green parameters meaning that you're in the good without even on manual mode
hola saludes, muy bueno, aunque ubiese gustado que tambien fuera tig .
sweet bead
Great video I been tossing up the 260 vs the 256 ? Any thoughts ? Hey hate to be a safety nut but u might wanna close the lid on your parts washer before welding ! Lol
Definitely my new toy!! Im impressed. If I am not mistaken the 260 is a Transformer machine?
Yes, I believe it is a transformer machine...not inverter as he mentioned.
Cost and how thick is it rated for?
Jim, I was really surprised that you didn't burp the bottle before putting regulator on. Loved how you explained the weld profile icon...
It just came off my 210 across the shop. I wasn't worried about junk in the valve....
thanks
Most people don't know that they should do that. Jim should have just so people know.
I call it sneezing 🤧
We call it a "shifter wrench" in the UK lol
Same in Australia
Will we see you at Fab Tech in Atlanta?
Yes sir. I'll be hanging at the Osborn booth.
Great vid! BTW 14:55 that is NOT a capital I, it is lowercase.
I wonder how those screens will hold up 40 years from now.
what's the price
Nice presentation there buddy, but by the time you figured out all the parameters I would have finished my work....this old guy is old school through and through! Besides I'm surprised you didn't call me out talking about those "professional welders"....
I would like to play with this though just to see what you were saying regarding "it wants to weld"
All the best Jim...
Razor
If it takes you more than 10 seconds to "actually" set up the welder to work, Razor needs to stay in his rocking chair on the porch.....lol. ( What I'm saying is, its really fast when you are not trying to show the whole RUclips world how it works)
@@DoRiteFabrication
I did say it was a nice presentation......🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Shifter mate not a spanner. Short for shifting-spanner 🇦🇺
That in Australia is a " shifter" lol not spanner
Nice machine.. but ill have to wait until the Ironman 250 poops out on me.
MetalWorks Machine Shop I love the Ironman 230 one of my favorites.
You don’t really have to take off the tips and nozzle to feed wire no? I never take mine off never really get caught up. Machine is nice but big. No pulse or double pulse. Pretty much a 250 amp MP210 right?
Yes 260 amp 210 was away bigger and heavy like it's meant to work. Super impressed. You should take your contact tip out to refeed your gun. Not all contact tips are forgiving.
@@DoRiteFabrication
I definitely second that Jim. You always take the tip off to feed new wire!!!
It's very driven at once to weld LOL
New hat?
Too bad it does not have MIG Pulse for better penetration for a potentially better weld.
is this machine a transformer or inverter
Inverter
@@DoRiteFabrication This is a transformer machine. Theres no way an inverter machine would weigh 250lbs. Its got the same guts a 256
This machine is not inverter powered
It has a transformer power supply
Tell us the price son
50% price increase in 3 years. Anyone's pay increase by the same rate?
Either that guys 6'8 or that's a little machine
6' 5"
