It’s based off of slaves in Texas who were still enslaved in the 60s and 70s and no one knew about them because the plantation was so isolated. It was really sad that they didn’t know that black people were no longer slaves. I don’t believe the black people enslaved were given justice just their freedom finally.
I am also hoping that one day they will make a movie about the native Indian tribes that didn't want to give up there slaves even after slavery was abolished.
Sis the Sad part is I recently read an article from Black people in Mississippi Alabama and other southern states that were still hold as slaves in the 90s because the evil racist bitches were running the town and still keeping it the way it always was up until this day!
