For reeeeaallll though - I can relate all too well.... Congratulations on your two years, that is absolutely INCREDIBLE!!!! ♥️ I'm currently a month shy of three and a half years clean, after suffering through the misery of active addiction on & off over the course of a decade - and while my journey through recovery has most certainly been challenging at times, the many blessings it has given me only continue to prove how very worth it this process truly is 😌
.....and if I can do it, anyone can - just for today 🙂

God this trailer hit home for me. Once about eight years ago i was experiencing horrible withdrawal at home while waiting for a bed in s rehab, and i was throwing up so much foam and mucus that my mom was so scared i was going to have a heart attack. She watched me at my lowest point, a horrible and disgusting mess from my own actions, and still loves and respects me. And today she is so proud of me. I have eight years clean next month.

Good, its not even that hard for addicts to get clean! I WISH I could get off of Methadone cause IF I could I would be off it as fast as possible, BUT, Im ONLY on it for pain management so if I stopped it my pain/agony comes right back that same day & I spend most my day in screaming agony & vomiting from the pain. I've NEVER been a drug abuser in my life, but I was unlucky enough to get major chronic pain & have been STUCK on Methadone for 13 years because they cant fix my pain issue! Its hell being a non-addict & still being grouped in with filthy, untrustworthy addicts by doctors & people! THATS what this movie should be abput! People like me who are the ONLY, REAL victims of this shit as we never had any choice!

Congratulations and keep pushing! I may be a complete stranger, but I am proud of you! Getting sober was one of the hardest things I have ever done, by far. It drives me crazy when non addicts think it’s so easy to just up and quit and never touch it again. The main thing they talked about every day in treatment is “a lot of people don’t fully succeed on their first try”, as well as “relapse is part of recovery.” I was a lucky one. Even though everyone doubted me and with nobody in my corner, I am now 3.5 years sober, with no relapses. It is very possible, I am proof of that.

And the minute you feel like it's safe to let your guard down, they give in and clobber you.

@@pornstarlivesmatter3319 I’m sorry to hear about your mother. My daughter got robbed by hun point at 20 yrs old. Positive he needed drug money. She will never be the same. He goes on while her life is halted. I will watch this to see how they portray the mother. The one the takes the most abuse also most likely to be the main enabler. It’s hard to watch. I go through it with my Stepson 34 yrs old and my brothers. They are not the people I once loved. The monster (drug) took over. It has come so close to breaking up my 27 year marriage. Enabling is the worst thing you can do. The whole family has to be on board and stand United because they will manipulate and blame until they find the weakest one by one, after years of abuse from addicts I know first hand that you need to right stuff down keep notes and records of everything that happens because they will twist everything, family of addicts give up their lives for their loved ones and will never get that back, and society believes that’s what your supposed to do. We need to break that circle because this is beyond any power a parent has. The addicts need to do sadly. They have to get to the point where they realize they will end up dying if they don’t. Some just don’t think it will happen to them. Ugly truths.

Yes, I had to walk away from trying to help a loved one with addiction. They stole from their family, stole/robbed their boss and stole from me. This was after bailing them out of jail twice. I applaud those that stay in the fight, but it was not for me. After growing up watching family dealing with this chaos, I made a decision long ago, that if I can't help them to help themselves I'm walking away.

I cried watching this trailer. I couldn’t help it. It reminded me of me and what I went through with my parents. I was an opiate addict and I had such a good life before it. Then I hit rock bottom and moved back in with my parents when I was 25 and they watched me like a hawk. They said I could follow their rules and let them help me or I could leave and go do whatever I wanted but that I was on my own. I chose to stay with them. I couldn’t go anywhere by myself. I could go grocery shopping with my mom. Anytime I was on the phone or texting someone they would ask who it was. They did everything they could to help me and I know how much it killed them inside to see me like that. Well what they did worked and I’m 4 years clean now.

It’s never easy to make a big change, and if self-improvement was simple everyone would do it. But it sounds like your parents love you a great deal, and you love yourself enough to make and keep that change going. That’s incredible!

It was amazing going to the theater to see this last night. Our entire recovery group went and just took the place over. Heck we even made the people that didn't come with us a part of our group, cause that's just what we do. Everyone was crying and laughing ( even when it was probably inappropriate to do so) but we all lived it.
For me tho, man..... I brought my mom with me and it was just....something else. Hard to explain. We both did, and went thru the same things these main characters went thru, so much pain I caused and she endured...but there we were...together...happy... Three years sober this month and I STILL feel guilty for the things I put her thru.. but this movie helped heal us even more. I wish I could thank everyone who made this movie personally.

I am just hopping on here to say that this movie is so inaccurate. Molly was only clean for 3 freaking days and she wanted to help a 15-year-old little girl who was also addicted. I was an addict who actually did live on the streets for 6 months at the age of 30 and I did everything to support my addiction by stealing and conning people just to get my next fix. I am clean now and I will say that it takes at least 3 years being clean and sober where you are in the right state of mind to help your friend who is going through addiction. So Hollywood should get there act together if they are going to produce a movie about addiction

Looks like this is the "My sister is on heroin" club....I had a slightly different reaction. My sister was an addict for many years, but this was 80s to 90s. As a family we were naive, to say the least. She's been off heroin for a long time, via methodone which she is also now clean from. She is very much back in the family fold, after absences and rollercoaster highs and lows. My eldest sister is still very judgemental about my middle sister in general.
My main thought after seeing the trailer was, I wonder if this would help us all gain more insight into what my sister went through. I have given her props for getting off methodone, she knows I appreciate the strength that took. I'd like her to see the film and let us know if she feels it does a good job of showing what the addict goes through.
Sorry, this ended up being a bit of a life story. I wish you and your families well. If you or your sibling or child is struggling with addiction, I hope you all find your way through it. I wish you all health, love and happiness.

My mom is addict and she never had the courage even to try for rehab, pills damaged her brain and now she's in shelter.. I tried to help her so many times that I can't count it any more... from my childhood I have learned what suffering is... I've growned up really fast.... It's devastating to se a person you love and who was supposed to be your role model to ruin their life and became shell of the people and that's exatcly what they become... Don't waste your life, don't ruin it... Be strong and brave, if not for yourself, than for people who loves you... I’ve actually never heard of this shot. There is obviously methadone, suboxone & subutex, but those are all only approved to take orally (although many users abuse these miracle drugs and inject them). I know they are doing trials for a Naltrexone implant and also for a brain surgery that is supposed to “cure” addiction for users to potentially use as a last resort, but these haven’t been approved yet. They actually have a heroin clinic trial that they are doing in another country that’s been quite effective as well. The patients are prescribed pure pharmaceutical heroin to inject, they are obviously prescribed different doses based on tolerance, the patient arrives and the doctor gives them their pre-filled syringe with the prescribed dosage and the patient injects it. They are allowed to come back 8 hours later if they need more (but they can only go up to twice a day), and then they also offer rehab to those ready to take the next step. So a lot has been done to help opioid addiction, but I still haven’t heard of a shot that is effective for a month like in the movie.

Having just recently lost my brother to a drug overdose this trailer really hit hard. My brother was a good person with a terrible addiction. He was always different and he felt it. Addicts "accepted him". Even though acceptance came at a terrible price. I do not know the answers to everyone's addiction but I do believe it starts with the addict themselves. Sometimes , we the family and friends, must make the difficult decision to seperate ourselves from the addict to save ourselves. A price that is also a terrible price to pay. The pain I saw my brother and parents go through was horrible and it has left its' scars on me. I pray for all those lost souls that they find the self worth and courage to get help. For no other reason than for them to be able to live. Not just exist. The acting in this trailer is perfect. This is EXACTLY what it looks and feels like for the family of an addict. Thank you Ms.Kunis and Ms. Close. This is worth an Oscar.

I absolutely feel your pain...... from both sides of the spectrum, unfortunately 🙁 Even as a recovering addict myself though, I can honestly agree that loving an addict is harder than being in active addiction - with all of the pain that came with personally being addicted to heroin, it still wasn't nearly as difficult as it's been being clean and having to see my boyfriend (and several other loved ones) destroy what's left of their lives because of it...... I'm praying your sister will get the help she needs to get and stay clean. It might very well be one of the hardest things she ever does, as it was for me, but it could also be the very best - I can genuinely say it's been SO COMPLETELY worth going through everything I did to finally have this life of recovery today ♥️

This hits home for my family. Having two siblings in active addiction, the heartbreak, waiting for the call at any second they are gone. I think more people can relate to this, within their families, than most imagine. Addiction doesn't discriminate, it doesn't care if you're rich or poor, educated or not, old or young. So many can look down and judge, that's the sad part. We are all human, addiction can happen to any of us. Those quick to turn their nose up, maybe just see from a different perspective, talk about it, ask questions, be there for someone. It's hard as hell to not be so angry at someone you love for being an addict. I know because I feel it every day. I still love them, it's a back and forth battle to know how to help, how to be there in a positive way, yet not be an enabler. The hardest thing is loving them from a distance to protect my child. All four of us grew up with addict parents, being raised around it makes it easy to go down the same path. Everyone is different, we handle trauma differently. I didn't escape the abuse and drug filled life unscathed, I just got lucky that I never wanted to do those things. It could easily have been me on drugs, or in an abusive relationship. It can be hard to go down a better path, when your childhood was so immersed in that atmosphere. Hard, but not impossible. I have my own issues, I'm no better than anyone, and I don't judge. We're all human, trying to find our way in this world, trying to get over our hurt from the past.
As the oldest sibling, I wish I could save my baby (grown yet still my baby siblings in my eyes) brother and sister. I'd do anything, however I realize, and accept it has to be their choice to change. It still doesn't hurt any less watching those you love with all your heart & soul, slowly kill themselves. ❤❤❤

" Support, don't punish". We can do this. None of us is alone in this. We'll get through it.

As a single mom in recovery from benzos I have been through almost this exact situation. My mom has been my BIGGEST supporter even when we’ve fought through it all. I’m coming up on 6 months.. and Ive never felt better, happier. My daughter has her mommy and my mom has her daughter back.

Glenn Close! What an outstanding performance!! Mila you were just as fantastic. I found the part driving to the hospital difficult....twice I had my brother in law in my car dieing rushing him to hospital. I feel for each and everyone in the comments who is struggling. Own the Day. Be strong. 💜

The comment section has me in tears. I have so much respect for anyone who is struggling with addiction or is in recovery. We have to stop treating people like criminals for trying to heal their pain and trauma in the only way they know how

To everyone in the comments.. I send a lot of love and strength. Life isn't easy, but it can be beautiful if you fight. You're all fighters ❤️

I really hope mila gets an Oscar for this performance. Totally incredible . Being an alchohic i know about addiction. Been into inpatient 6 times. Longest clean time i had was 5 months. This movie gives me confidence that i can do it.

I saw all the things I put my mom through in this trailer alone. Thankfully she's around to be proud of me today, but I can't imagine what it would feel like if she passed before that. Im so sorry. Here or not, im sure she's still proud of you
