I had my full hysterectomy four years ago (almost to the day of yours). My pretty much everything had stuck to the rest of my insides, plus fibroids, and tons of scar tissue (fun times let me tell you).
Even with all my "complications" (finding that they couldn't save my ovaries and that my bladder was attached to my stomach), I was up and walking the next day. My recovery time was kind of long, but it honestly wasn't even 4 weeks. More like 2. and that's with all that crap.
If you want to talk more, you can always contact me or whateves.
Good luck to you! I'll keep you in my thoughts.

Blessings for a speedy recovery. I too had awful periods growing up. They were horrendous! So painful that at times I couldn't even walk. As I grew up I started to look pregnant. Eventually I was diagnosed with an ovarian cyst. At the time I had just turned 17. When team of doctors went in to remove my cyst they had to drain it before they could remove it. 13 liters, yes liters of fluid was drained. They were not able to save my right ovary but I was left with one. My periods got better but still were pretty bad but I got by. I eventually married and successfully had two children without fertility treatments or anything. After my second child I started awful periods again, almost as bad as before...another cyst, this one was only the size of a softball lol. At the age of 30 I knew I was done having kids so I opted for a full hysterectomy. Recovery was slow because I pushed it. Be mindful of what you do in your recovery process. Accept help! God bless Abby!

poor thing!!! I hate your going through so much. Making this channel was a good idea not only to help others which is awesome that that's what came to your mind but your also creating a support system for yourself in doing this. your gonna need cheering on and just support in general. This was a great idea but I don't think you realize yet just how much it'll help you too. best of luck, I hope this turns out to be a lot easier than expected on you.

I had a total hysterectomy 25 years ago because of fibroid tumers and endometriosis, it was such a relief not to be in pain anymore. I want to wish you the best of luck and a speedy recovery. I will be sure to keep you in my prayers.

I had the same surgery for the same reasons when I was 28. I understand the pain and discomfort and i'm here if you ever want to talk. I know for me there were a lot of feelings and emotions I went through afterward.

You are very smart. I had a myomyectomy when I was your age b/c of fibroids and they saved the uterus. Next week, I'm having a total abdominal hysto b/c the fibroids are so large (8-9 cm) they are affecting my bladder and kidneys. At 50, I'm more afraid of the surgery now because i know recovery will be slower this time. So happy to have your videos.

I had full laparoscopic surgery back in 2009..to remove a17 X 9 tumour from my pelvis. Post op care was great and I was back on my feet in two days and home in four days. Keep mobile and avoid any lifting for a month.. Wishing you well and for a safe recovery.. Best wishes Abbey..

I applaud you for making such a huge decision to go forward w/ the TAH. You are right in saying the fibroids would grow back, therefore a Myomectomy would've been just a "band-aid fix". I wish you the best & a speedy recovery Abby!

Very brave to share this w/your subscribers! I had the same surgery and the only thing wrong that I did during recuperation time was not listen to my doctors orders on "Taking it easy, no stairs, etc.."
She also said "You will feel like you can do things, but, DO NOT, b/c you will pay the price w/pain that shouldn't be and inflammation... I did feel better on day 2 home and hit the stairs a few times, BIG mistake :/ So dear Abby, please take the advice that I failed to and all will go much smoother and your amazing body will be healing and better days await you :)
All the best, keep an optimistic outlook and Remember, you have the power of many, many women rooting you on!! :)

Our prayers are with you ... tough time. Take your tablet and earbuds, you won't have time for much else. Just spent four days last month (heart attack) and I was SOOOO happy to get home, just to be able to sleep through the night without being poked, prodded and pilled.

Wow...you are a strong young woman to be willing to share your experience, and i am sure plenty of people will be inspired by your candor. You certainly sound confident in your medical care, and you speak as someone who has researched and soul searched and formulated a definite plan, which I applaud you for.
As a male I cannot directly relate to all aspects, but as a loving husband and father of 2 daughters and 2 stepdaughters, I realize that there are a multitude of women's health issues men will never fully understand, but we worry for you all just the same.
be well, we'll be praying for your recovery.

I had a 6 1/2 pound cyst on my left overy and one the size of a football on my right. I had a full hysterectomy 4 years ago. My doctor cut me vertically to get the cysts out. She told me that if I had waited about 2 more weeks it would have been stage 4 cancer. Thank god it was not. you will be fine. Just remember to take it easy afterwards and don't rush the recovery.

Hey Abby, so sorry to hear about your health issues. I had a hysterectomy eleven years ago when I was 36. I had two surgeries prior to that too remove a large cyst and then some cysts an an ovary. The surgery wasn't as bad as I expected, I had a total abdominal as well as a hernia repair. Best decision I ever made. If you ever want to talk, or have questions, please feel free to pm me. Good luck with the surgery, you'll be in my thoughts and prayers. Deanna ❤

Abby, thank you so much for sharing and talking about your journey. It's crazy watching this for me because 1 year ago almost to the day of your surgery I had a davinci hysterectomy. Mine was January 23, 2015. I needed to have mine for some of the same reasons that you are having yours. You are so right, there just isn't that many people talking about it, but as I found, it is so common. I was very scared and full of anxiety in the days leading up to my surgery. I wished then that I could see myself now, because everything went well. My quality of life is SO MUCH better. I can't even believe I went so long dealing with so much pain. If I could offer you any advice it would be to nurture yourself during your recovery, rest, follow all of the lifting "rules", and ease back into life as you feel ready. Take your time! As someone who has just freshly been through this you are welcome to ask me anything! Best of luck! You really won't regret this!

your video really helped me. i have been dealing with fibroids since 2005 i have had fibroids removed 3 times in 2011 i had 18 removed and they keep coming back. i had fibroids removed again for the 3rd time December 2014 and now i am starting to having pain again. Feel the same way you described in this video. I haven't had children yet which is really why i didnt have a hystrectomy but now im too the point where im sick of being in pain. my dr said its up to me when i want to have it done. im trying to tolerate the pain long as i can but its getting out of control.

Hi Abby sorry to hear you need surgery, its normal to be worried and anxious about everything. I had ACDF (Anterior Cervical Discectomy & Fusion) surgery a year ago Jan 5th, thinking back it was the best option for me and Im glad its all over. I had 2 cervical discs removed with fusion...I haven't tried this yet but I will most likely set off metal detectors lol.
I have 2 friends that had complete hysterectomies for different reasons and both are doing excellent today, their surgeries were about a year apart and they were out of work for about 4 weeks each. One friend had a 9 pound tumor in her uterus, why she felt the need I dont know but she sent me a pic of it...the dr that performed her surgery had taken a pic b/c it was the largest tumor he had removed.
Take care and dont forget to rest...rest...rest and let everyone else do everything while you recoup :)

Hang in there Abby. I know it's scary, I had a total done back in 2006. My issue was tumors in the uterus and ovaries. It does take awhile for recovery. Do what your doctor tells you! Don't try to do things before you're able. Do you have someone to help you during your recovery? If not, please find someone. I had my mom fly in to help me, that's the best because noone takes care of you like mom. (that is if you get along with your mom) :)

Wow thats a brave decision. I applaud you for taking this time to help other woman as well in regards of this type of health issues. Your brave. My main question was are you ok with not having any babies and you answered it. As long as your ok with it, then in my opinion your doing the right thing. Once I have one more baby in the near future, an hysterectomy will be my next decision as well.. Even tho I'm ok, but ovation cancer runs in my family and well. I'm not willing to deal with that just incase. Good luck darling. Wishing you the best..

I am so terrified of getting a hyst. I hate being put under due to the fear of pain, and the adverse affect of the anesthesia, like getting ill afterwards. I have a polyps that make me bleed ALLA the time with cramps too boot even if I am not n my official period. Can't do it Vag. due to me never having kids. Do you regret it? Are you in pain now?

Thank you for posting these. I am going in on the 25th of this month and it's so good to have a real world reaction. My uterus is full of fluid along with fibroids and pollups, I sympathize with your pain. God bless!

My sister recently had the same surgery. You will be in my thoughts and prayers, and if it is still possible, I would love to donate to help you out.

Do you know the weight of your uterus after removed? I had my surgery on March 16th. Abdominally cut, up past belly button about 2 inches. Mine was 1490 grams. (normal uterus weight 40-60 grams). I got cool (or gross LOL) pictures too. My doctor is great!!
