I have one issue with what JM said here and when he testified at the trial. That is, he had no knowledge of Alex taking any drugs. I met JM, Alex, Buster and Paul when they came into the convenience I was working at. JM, Buster and Paul stood back while Alex was lit, hyperactive, demanding and overly loud. They stood far apart enough to make me nervous and very uneasy. The owner of the store, I found out later were long time friends with the Murdaughs. All I knew at the time was there was this guy slapping the counter, demanding service and pushing to get ahead of other customers. He did not seem angry, just out of his mind hyper. The owner of the place kept a 44 revolver laying flat under the register. I had my hands on it twice, pointing it his way. I simply didn't know what was going to happen. The stark contrast between Alex and the others was obvious. How JM could not have any inkling about this, I find hard to believe. I did not know who they were. I know I didn't want them back. This was nearly 12 years ago. I only figured out who they were after the murders. I have since come to learn that this the typical behavior of an addict on opioids. I simply cannot believe that JM was unaware. I do know the boys were aware by their silence and quiet disinterest at the time. JM seems like a good guy but his credibility took a major hit given his statements.

IF you call they can give you a police escort. Police cars and badges usually say : To Protect and Serve. They can help change a flat tire or assist with getting help to, if that is necessary. Rural areas, police have a better ability to serve, because there are less having to protect, as there probably is in a major city. But, they take an oath to protect and serve. When the local sheriff election held an event, I asked each person running to please explain what the phrase to Protect ans Serve means to them. That is one way to know how they will run their office, is a spontaneous answer to a really thoughtful question. IT is their JOB.

21:45 JMM shows some evasion about the drinking (as many people do when asked about quantifying how much they eat or drink) perhaps a good baseline for times if JMM showed evasion

He also struggles to use the word “murder” or “killing” and refers to it as an “incident”. I believe that is a tell that he knows or suspects that Alex did it. He is very protective of anything suggestive of Alex. Also, is seemingly trying to direct the investigation towards CB, brings him up 2-3 times. In Buster’s interview, he describes the sunflower incident as very benign, nothing that would cause CB to be fired over.

At @54 minutes into this, the scene reference regarding the black SUV seems to be of location of Steven Smith’s death. Is this the narrative that re-opened the Smith case? It was originally said that something in the Murdaugh murder investigation prompted the reopening .

Flakey interview, certainly sounds like AM had been discussing his interview with JM, and no PM didn’t have a drinking problem, and JM didn’t really know a lot about PM does and lives most of the time, watch his testimony on the stand about how close the two of them were, definitely doesn’t sound like the close relationship he’d like everyone to accept.

That investigator did a great job. He kept that interview soft so as not to spook someone from a family of lawyers. He danced around questions he didn't want to answer. Really smart and effective. He was able to get a lot of answers. I think JM knew his brother was on drugs and I think Paul talked about it. He didn't want to incriminate Alex because at that point he didn't think Alex was capable. Surprise.

NOBODY knew Alec. He is/was an addict in many forms gambling, pill and stealing. His family probably had questions but it would be impossible to wrap your head around Alex. Denial works until it doesnt. They are not speaking out to protect the one remaining son. Buster is in the same boat as the rest of the family. It would be sooo difficult to even begin to grasp this situation.
