- Hey guys, first time reacting to Eurovision on youtube, hope you enjoy this reaction as much as I enjoyed it. NOW! is the time for The Netherlands' Entry!. Opinions? Well :D it's on the video.
I'll be reacting to the entire season and I'm really excited about this year, I read on many Esc fan pages that many songs are "TOP TOP TOP" so I can't wait to check them out.

This is a masterpiece!!! This is the winner of Eurovision Songcontest 2024, for me. No doubt.
Research: Europapa = Eurodad. 12 points for The Netherlands. An ode to his father who passed away when he was 12 years and his mother who passed away when he was 13 years. His father told him that there are no borders / boundaries, no limits. Go, travel and discover Europe and the world. He promised his father that one day he will be singing at the Eurovision. They used to watch it together when he was a child. Now he made it, because he will be on stage this year.
Everywhere he travelled he carried the pain and grief with him.
The fire simbolise letting go of the pain of no having his parents and the start of a new chapter in his life.
CAN YOU STOP! MY DAY WAS OK! NOW I'M IN TEARS AGAIN! hahaha. :') That's an amazing story and I'm sure his parents will rave and support him wherever they are. This song can be the winner without any doubt.

This song is a tribute to his father / Parents who passed away. Europa in Dutch means Europe. Pa or Papa means dad. His dad once told him the world has no “Grenzen” which could be translated to both borders (Borders are a man made concept) or limitations (Many people create their own limitations in their own mind). This life lesson inspired him to have keep having an open view on the world and live his life to the fullest without putting limitations on himself.
After his parents died he carried a lot of pain with him. No matter where on earth he was (Germany, Italy), whatever food he would eat (Escargots in France, Fish and chips in UK, Paella in Spain), he still carries this pain with him. In the end nobody but himself could deal with this pain and he himself must find peace with his losses. Only going through the grief and finding inner peace would put a end to this suffering. This song tells the story of him as an orphan trying to do exactly that.
Him creating this song was a huge part of this process. The line with Stromae / papaoute (which Translates to: Dad where are you), is followed with the words about how he wants his parents to be proud of him. He used to watch Eurovision with his parents and told them one day he would be there performing. Which is what he now did.

Joost lost his dad to cancer when he was a teenager +/- 13 years old, and his mother died from a heart attack a year later.

his sums up Europapa (papa is Dutch for Daddy) for me, it is true Art and a masterpiece by Joost (Joast) Klein (kline).
(*) Ubuntu (Xhosa(a South African tribe language) for "we are all as one"") is the most prolific, important, eye-opening, life-changing word I have learned in my 58 years of being an earthling.

It's funny because the music is actually the way music was in the 90s and what you refer to as kpop I call house music lol

The song is actually a bit sad. As others already stated, he lost his parents at a very young age. There are a lot of double meanings / connections to his parents and surely i am missing something but ill try to name some:
Like the song is called "euro-papa" because papa is dad in dutch.
He is singing that he goes to other places but he feels lonely. He lost everything except time. he is struggeling
He is giving people money but nobody is helping him. He went to mental healthcare but they could not help him.
He is talking about the song Papaoutai from stromae. Papa outai means "dad is here" and the phrase Où t'es? Papa où t'es? means Where are you? Dad where are you? check out the lyrics of that song too :)
He is also mentioning "i wont stop until they say, yes he does that very well" because he is seeking pride from his parents.
The ending is pretty clear but i think he is talking to his dad and his younger him and he tells his dad that he listend to him.
Also the burning picture and burning house stands for him closing that chapter and he wants to move on and dont want to feel the pain anymore. while he was in therapy they used burning stuff to let go the oldn

This is not from 2000 and later, but more the 90s sound (1995-1999).
The end (before the sad part) is Happy Hardcore and Dj Paul Elstak had made that part (Happy Hardcore was famous in the Netherlands in 1995/1996/1997).
And the other styles are also 90s more scooter/eiffel 65 songs from the 90s.
More facts: in the Netherlands we call dad also Pa or Papa, so thats why Euro-pa-pa-pa-pa ... Europa but for Joost Klein also a tribute for his dad / parents.

information: song is a tribute to his parents at the age of 12 his father died of cancer and a year later his mother died of cardiac arrest and everywhere he went he still had pain from his parents. The point of his music is that he wants to leave pain behind and move on cleanly without pain

I heard this song this morning for the first time on the Dutch radio (Ekdom in de morgen) and i almost had to swallow my own vomit, just had to see the video and the video is just as cheesy as i imagined and i still think it's a pile of trash, this is the worst song represented by the Netherlands since Sieneke but hey i am not the targeted audience for the Eurovision and in the end it is all subjective, still enjoyed your reaction tho...
There are songs for everybody, perhaps in the coming years you'll like a song from The Netherlands. Happens to me also with many songs every year, like your honesty ♥.
