"Bernie Boomer" here! 63-years-young and my support for Bernie has never been stronger. Comparing him to Buttigieg, Biden and Bloomberg is a complete and utter joke, yet very revealing. Bloomberg is trying to pay for his own presidency - the people be damned. Buttigieg has more billionaire donors than any other candidate in the race. Biden is a has-been whose past experience reveals a Republican in disguise.
None of these latter three men really gives a damn about average Americans. All three of them DO want to get richer and richer, get more and more power and keep the status quo intact.
Bernie is the only candidate who has a decade's long record of ACTUALLY fighting for average Americans. You know - the 99% who are completely ignored by the top one-percent and its wannabees?

In a weird way a Sanders presidency will be more along the lines of MLK’s “dream” than Obama‘s presidency was. Let’s face it, hindsight has revealed that Obama reflected more of a moderate republican when it came to his actual policies, even the ACA is a republican version of the idea. I know this won’t be a popular opinion (btw it’s just my opinion) but when everything is said and done Bernie’s past and his ideas for our future reflect more of what MLK’s message actually was.
Yes, aesthetically MLK would have been proud of Obama’s presidential election but I truly believe he would have been more impressed with Bernie’s ideas for this country’s future... because they were actually his (MLK) own.

I meet my community members and communities outside my own and get to build solidarity and feel actually connected with all kinds of people and like I'm making a difference. We have to get involved in this country to fix what is wrong with it and to escape this crushing alienation weve been thrown into. Through political organizing I've been able to do both.

Feminism and identity politics are the root to alot the problems we find in society today.

  • @mplaw77
    @mplaw77 4 года назад +2

Short glossary .... "Intersectionality is a theoretical framework for understanding how aspects of one's social and political identities (e.g., gender, race, class, sexuality, disability, etc.) might combine to create unique modes of discrimination. It aims to broaden the agenda of the first waves of feminism, which largely focused on the experiences of white, middle class women. The broad agenda means that intersectionality is used to find combinations of injustices that are felt by members of society.
Alan Dershowitz, scholar of United States constitutional law and criminal law in answering a question on the criticism of Israel by intersectional movements, he stated that the concept of intersectionality is an oversimplification of reality that makes LGBT activists stand in solidarity with advocates of Sharia, even though Islamic law denies the rights of the former. He feels that identity politics does not evaluate ideas or individuals on the basis of the quality of their character. Dershowitz argues that in academia, intersectionality is taught with a large influence from antisemitism. He states that Jews are actually more liberal and supportive of equal rights than many other religious sects.[83]
Writer and political pro-Israel activist Chloé Valdary considers intersectionality "a rigid system for determining who is virtuous and who is not, based on traits like skin color, gender, and financial status". Valdary also states:
Intersectionality's greatest flaw is in reducing human beings to political abstractions, which is never a tendency that turns out well-in part because it so severely flattens our complex human experience, and therefore fails to adequately describe reality. As it turns out, one can be personally successful and still come from a historically oppressed community-or vice versa. The human experience is complex and multifaceted and deeper than the superficial ways in which intersectionalists describe it.[84]
    As zealotry
Conservative political commentator Andrew Sullivan argues that the practice of intersectionality "manifests itself almost as a religion. It posits a classic orthodoxy through which all of human experience is explained-and through which all speech must be filtered."[85] David A. French, writer for the National Review, states that proponents of intersectionality are "zealots of a new religious faith" intending to fill a "religion-shaped hole in the human heart".[86]
    from wiki "

You talk about intersectionality leading to situations were LGBTQ activists are standing with advocates of Sharia law etc. to address discrimination. Well there's something that causes some Black ministers to stand with KKK members against gay rights and some atheists to stand with islamophobic Evangelicals of the religious right to stand against Muslim immigrants. It's called bigotry!

All humans have "things" in common. I do not automatically have something in common with another whom has a similar skin "color", simply because of the "color" of skin. Skin pigmentation is a natural variant in the human race. I think we need to leave this false notion of different races (based on skin "color") in the past. The only differences within the human race are based on ethnicity, culture, and nationality. Unless you want to break everything down further to what, states, cities, neighborhoods, eye color, hair color, spleen size, lactose tolerance or intolerance, height, weight, binary gender or omni-gender, finger length, one kidney or two, etc. ...? I don't understand the insistence on using the words "white" and "black" or "brown" to create false categories in humans. It suggests that all individuals of a particular "color" are the same. And will vote the same. Or have the same opinions. Or the exact same needs. That's clearly untrue and misleading.

I agree 100 percent. I would add age and experience to your list. I'm not the same woman I was before I had children. But every woman I've ever met who has a teenage daughter knows exactly what my days are like. It's like we're in a club. And you're right, race is not a factor here.
The problem today is we just don't let people be who they are. We're far too busy putting people into categories.

    • @inorganicintelligence-IoI
      @inorganicintelligence-IoI 4 года назад +1

@Harmony Alexandria You are talking about power, money, and 'class' mixed/structured within nationality... so to frame it all by some false idea of matching skin 'color' is harmful to true progress for all of humanity.
If you keep those blinders on, our world will continue to devolve into negative feedback loops.
We are one species with many variable traits, but our origins are the same. All categories overlap.
The 'landlord' or 'money lender' to fit your analogy isn't a certain skin 'color', it's the falsely entitled, overly rich... it's any group historically that has misused power. Any generational brokers in positions of control and influence... and, guess what, they come in all 'colors'. And all nationalities.

In the context of the movie ....
"Colonel Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain : [quoting Hamlet] "What a piece of work is man, in form and movement how express and admirable. In action how like an angel."
Sergeant 'Buster' Kilrain : Well, if he's an angel, all right then. But he damn well must be a killer angel.
Colonel Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain : Tell me something, Buster... What do you think of Negroes?
Sergeant 'Buster' Kilrain : Well, if you mean the race, I don't really know. This is not a thing to be ashamed of. The thing is, you cannot judge a race. Any man who judges by the group is a pea-wit. You take men one at a time.
Colonel Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain : You see to me there was never any difference.
Sergeant 'Buster' Kilrain : None at all?
Colonel Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain : None at all. Of course, I haven't known that many freed men... But those I knew in Bangor, Portland... You look in the eye, there was a man. There was a "divine spark," as my mother used to call it. That is all there is to it. Races are men. "What a piece of work is man. How infinite in faculties and form, and movement... How express and admirable. In action how like an angel.
Sergeant 'Buster' Kilrain : Well, if he's an angel, all right then... But he damn well must be a killer angel. Colonel, darling, you're a lovely man. I see a vast great difference between us, yet I admire you, lad. You're an idealist, praise be. The truth is, Colonel... There is no "divine spark". There's many a man alive no more of value than a dead dog. Believe me. When you've seen them hang each other the way I have back in the Old Country. Equality? What I'm fighting for is to prove I'm a better man than many of them. Where have you seen this "divine spark" in operation, Colonel? Where have you noted this magnificent equality? No two things on Earth are equal or have an equal chance. Not a leaf, not a tree. There's many a man worse than me, and some better... But I don't think race or country matters a damn. What matters, Colonel... Is justice. Which is why I'm here. I'll be treated as I deserve, not as my father deserved. I'm Kilrain... And I damn all gentlemen. There is only one aristocracy... And that is right here.
    [points to his head]
Sergeant 'Buster' Kilrain : And that's why we've got to win this war."

Identity Politics as opposed to what other kind of politics - issues politics? Politics has always been about identity. You can identify a lot of things about a person based on the political stances they take. Conservatism is draped in White identity. How can you use a broad term like 'Identity Politics' and not expect it to be applied broadly? Black Lives Matter' made the same mistake as the Combahee River Collective, in not being precise in their messaging. They should have said 'Black, etc., Identity Politics' and 'Black Lives Matter Too! or Also!' respectively. Ironically, I may have been the first, to coin that phrase. It's sad it seems, no generational insight or wisdom was gained in this matter, over the near 40 years. It is ironic that the belief and criticism of some Blacks, that 'Black Lives Matter' the organization, was created to promote a gay agenda, very well may have been aided by this historic association, or at least the founders having knowledge of this previous group. That is not to say that gay rights are not justified. Obviously, there is no question, that all human rights are justified. What is instructive here is the fundamental mistakes that Black people continue to make in our struggle for our rights, and a better life in this country. Democrats/Liberals/Progressives have done the same, as this non issue that Sanders has made into an issue indicates. One issue (abortion or jobs/economy/taxes - literally the proverbial pocketbook) politics is no different than so-called identity politics. They all have to be caters to and appeased. At least in the case of Blacks, they should be.

First ladies bomb politically. The skills needed to beat out other potential wives seeking a man with political prowess don't equate with having one's own political prowess, despite a few who come to love her like a mother-figure

@@johntao6822 truly? She is way more qualified to be President than most. She is not just a former president wife, never was about that, she is a lawyer she is a Woman with wisdom kindness and streight, if only you understand how pathetic your chouvinist comments makes you look you would probably evolve faster.

She is a no go. Extension of Wall Street and class oppression is a nonstarter for me. A FDR style democrat (Bernie) and a moderate republican (Obama) is a disaster of a ticket

The word feminism is sooooo gross. That said, i really like what the scholar Barbera Smith has to say about the modern day perversion of Identity politics

I read many books, exploring the world and people’s minds with TMH. However, I only endorse TMH, not man. Therefore, if the blind leads the blind, both will fall into a hole.

Maybe this lesbian feminist can start by using the word people to replace her sexist use of the word women. Majority of men support her values and her work including myself. Just stop the anti male hate speech. It’s killing men.
