Brings back memories for me. That was my life from 2013 until 2021. I built a hotel in Ye, Mon State, and taught English as a volunteer. Such a shame that the leadership took away the country's potential. Great vids! Thanks!

I watched your whole series. The landscape is so similar to North East India where I'm originally from. The appearance of people, the mannerisms are also so similar..
It was so fascinating to see similar things which we also have in village like cooking with woodfire despite having gas, the houses on stilts, people chewing betel nut I suppose?, the atmosphere of the market, the familiar vegetables, big vessel of rice cooking on woodfire, the gardens full of vegetables.
There were some differences too but it was fascinating to compare everything.

I was born in 🇲🇲 but had to migrate to 🇸🇬 since I was young. Lived there for 13 years & then now in Sydney 🇦🇺. All I ever lived were in big cities. I long for nature and countryside, hold them very dear to my heart ❤️ Every time I go back to our motherland, it’s a great nostalgic feeling.

Burmese cooking is so much like Indian cooking, I can see that you use turmeric in most dishes and use your hands for eating. I see many similarities because I'm from northeast India.

I was wondering how the village and your relatives are doing after the recent military coup and now that the junta is in power and violently harming civilians and protestors? Hope they’re all safe and doing well!
Hi! Thanks for the follow. My families in the village are ok right now. However news and media there is very limited and often well contained. If there was something happening in another region, it generally wouldn’t be openly shared publicly or locally. Hopefully things will get better in the near future for everyone there! I hope to be able to visit my grandpa again. Thank you for your well wishes!

Hi Mslittlewin If you are from Karen community you should try visiting the Andaman and Nicobar islands of India, there are around 3000 Karen community living there. Till today they have preserved their customs and traditions of their ancestors.

Homer Sashimi 👋 to my knowledge, no restrictions to foreigners! Although I imagine it might be a little challenging to get around town unless you know someone or a guide but I’m sure it’s doable for any adventurers (with the help of internet and google map) 🙂 I did see quite a few foreigners in the nearest city Hpa-an, at more known tourist attraction places where they travelled to via rented mopeds.

lives in a village near hlaingbwe and told me the local officials won’t let any outsiders inside the surrounding villages. Was just wondering if that was accurate or not but it sounds like it’s more relaxed than what I was told.

Is it still this peaceful? I spoke to a man from Burma. He says socialist government and soldiers have taken over, said people are getting everything taken a people are being killed or jailed. Any truth to this?

svenne786 there was a huge dip in one particular area , my cousin accidentally pulled me under while trying to use me as leverage. I was lucky. What’s scary is the next day a girl drowned in that very same spot 😖

This was in Karen state, and the people in this video are all a mix of Burmese and Karen tribe (hope this helped answer your question) 😇

แห่งภพ ไม่มีความถือมั่น ทำกิจเสร็จแล้ว หมดอาสวะ
ย่อมยินดี เพราะเหตุความสิ้นอายุ เหมือนบุคคลพ้นแล้ว
จากการถูกประหารฉะนั้น บุคคลผู้บรรลุธรรมอันสูงสุดแล้ว
ไม่มีความต้องการอะไรในโลกทั้งปวง ย่อมไม่เศร้าโศก
ในเวลาตาย ดุจบุคคลออกจากเรือนที่ถูกไฟไหม้ฉะนั้น
สิ่งใดสิ่งหนึ่งซึ่งมีอยู่ในโลกนี้ก็ดี ภพที่สัตว์ได้อยู่ในโลก
นี้ก็ดี พระพุทธเจ้าผู้แสวงหาคุณอันใหญ่ได้ตรัสไว้ว่า สิ่ง
ทั้งหมดนี้ไม่เป็นอิสระ ผู้ใดรู้แจ้งธรรมข้อนั้น เหมือนดัง
ที่พระพุทธเจ้าทรงแสดงไว้ ผู้นั้นย่อมไม่ยึดถือภพไร ๆ
ดังบุคคลผู้ไม่จับก้อนเหล็กแดงอันร้อนโชนฉะนั้น เราไม่มี
ความคิดว่า ได้มีมาแล้ว จักมีต่อไป สังขารจักปราศจาก
ไป จะคร่ำครวญไปทำไมในเพราะสังขารนั้นเล่า.
ดูก่อนนายโจร ความกลัวย่อมไม่มีแก่ผู้พิจารณาเห็น
ตามความเป็นจริง ซึ่งความเกิดขึ้นแห่งธรรมอันบริสุทธิ์
และความสืบต่อแห่งสังขารอันบริสุทธิ์ เมื่อใดบุคคล
พิจารณาเห็นเสมอด้วยหญ้าและไม้ด้วยปัญญา เมื่อ
นั้น บุคคลนั้นย่อมไม่ยึดถือว่าเป็นของเรา ย่อมไม่เศร้า
โศกว่า ของเราไม่มี เรารำคาญด้วยสรีระ เราไม่ต้อง-
การด้วยภพ ร่างกายนี้จักแตกไป และจักไม่มีร่างกาย
อื่น ถ้าท่านทั้งหลายปรารถนาจะทำกิจใดด้วยร่างกายของ
เรา ก็จงทำกิจนั้นเถิด ความขัดเคืองและความรักใคร่ใน
ร่างกายนั้น จักไม่มีแก่เรา เพราะเหตุที่ท่านทั้งหลายทำ
กิจตามปรารถนาด้วยร่างกายของเรานั้น. โจรทั้งหลายได้
ฟังคำของท่านอันน่าอัศจรรย์ ทำให้ขนลุกชูชัน จึงพา
กันวางศาสตราวุธ แล้วกล่าวดังนี้ว่า ข้าแต่ท่านผู้เจริญ
ความไม่เศร้าโศกที่ท่านได้นี้ เพราะท่านได้ทำกรรมอะไร
ไว้ หรือใครเป็นอาจารย์ของท่าน หรือเพราะอาศัยคำสั่ง
สอนของใคร.
พระเถระได้ฟังดังนั้นแล้ว จึงได้กล่าวตอบว่า
พระศาสดาผู้เป็นสัพพัญญู รู้เห็นธรรมทั้งปวง ชนะ
หมู่มาร มีพระกรุณาใหญ่ ผู้รักษาพยาบาลชาวโลกทั้งปวง
เป็นอาจารย์ของเรา ธรรมเครื่องให้ถึงความสิ้นอาสวะอัน
ยอดเยี่ยมนี้ พระองค์ทรงแสดงไว้แล้ว ความไม่เศร้าโศก
เราได้เพราะอาศัยคำสั่งสอนของพระองค์ พวกโจรฟัง
ถ้อยคำอันเป็นสุภาษิตของพระเถระผู้เป็นฤาษีแล้ว พากัน
วางศาสตราและอาวุธ บางพวกก็งดเว้นจากโจรกรรม บาง
พวกก็ขอบรรพชา โจรเหล่านั้นครั้นได้บรรพชาในศาสนา
ของพระสุคตแล้ว ได้เจริญโพชฌงค์และพลธรรม เป็น
บัณฑิต มีจิตเฟื่องฟู เบิกบาน มีอินทรีย์อันอบรมดีแล้ว
ได้บรรลุสันตบท คือนิพพานอันหาปัจจัยปรุงแต่งมิได้.
