Probably one of the hardest covers i did for a long time. Being honest with myself i think i needed a bit more time to get it better, but i had no more time for it. I'll probably go back to it another time, since i think some parts were not as good as i wanted. Really hard song, beast of a player, not recommended for those faint of heart. Lots of things to learn from. Let me know if you have any question. A part of the song alternates between Ebm7 - Ab7, I and IV coming from Eb Dorian (Db Major). Usually Dorian is used a lot in funk and you can think of it as minor pentatonic and minor blues too. B part modulates to F Major.
CoverSolutions don’t worry about it man this was still amazing.
You have my highest respect for this difficult piece of music!
Hey dude, I'm struggling to figure out to get the tabs you wrote for these. Have you stopped sharing them publicly lately? p.s. loving the vulfpeck, and would love more.
Yea really good cover man.
Geez... for a relative noob like me this is demoralizing
After almost 4 years of practicing this song, I'm happy to say I can play it by memory now. ALL THANKs TO YOU!! If you're struggling to push yourself through learning it, TRUST ME. IT IS WORTH IT! The feeling I get playing this song is unlike any other.
omg, it's my turn, i see u in 4 years
Same
@@joC21-01 You're actually gonna be there if you keep practicing with these videos! I went from watching this almost day one to 3 years later.
Is that three years from first practice session to final session or total playing time? xD
@@joC21-01 @KlintonSilvey
Hows it coming along yall?
I’m exhausted just from watching you! Joe Dart is such an unsung legend of bass. Deserves way more fame.
Agree. He's on the cover of the current edition of Bass Guitar Magazine. People are starting to take notice.
Unsung??? Realy its all i hear bass players talk about. He is amazing but definitly gets his recognition
Joe Dart on the Joe Dart!
@@nielsvantartwijk7590 in recent times vulfpeck has kinda become mainstream funk i guess, they used to be not that popular tho
But they are now, it's great
Literally every bass player knows Joe dart
The hardest element to Joe Dart's playing is all his staccato notes. I've been trying to do what you do here, and place my other fingers in front of my fretting finger to shorten the notes, but it's not as easy as you'd think.
I think sometimes letting off the pressure of the finger you are using to fret the note until it's dead feels like the "right" way to make staccato notes Joe Dart style.
Hgmidd I think he also rests his unused fretting fingers very lightly on the strings to get some slight muting.
For anyone struggling with this, think about it as letting the string go towards the fingers rather than bringing the fingers to the string. The way I do it, I rest my fingers on all of the strings and just the act of fretting one of them gives it enough room to vibrate. If I then want to mute, I just release that pressure and the string touches the fingers that were already there. That makes the whole operation really economic and easy to do while grooving. Economy of motion is basically the key to playing any instrument at a high level.
Rocco prestia played this way
@@jimkerak6404 lots of Influence from Rocco I think. He was the master
Wow, I love Vulfpeck and I love Coversolutions, this video makes me happy
Reading the comments of this video reinforces my belief that the bass players community is the most loving and genuine community on earth
No
Picked up bass as a second instrument and discovered so many artists by watching these videos. Much appreciated.
4:18 That's a badass fill!
This one gives me goosebumps
This video literally got me in the fandom and i can't thank you enough
bro your art is awesome
@@lpl723 DAMN im sorry i never saw this thank you dude!
i'm a simple person, i see vulfpeck on my notification i get for your channel, i click like. not that i don't like on your other ones, but man. i love vulfpeck.
Yes! More Vulfpeck please! Favorite band of all time.
2:23 that was one of the smoothest lines ive heard in a while
It gets funkier IV needed next. no shot I can even get close to it but id like to see someone other than joe dart do it
Joey Tyner IV is the best one.
Just wanted to say I really appreciate the extreme detail you give in the description describing basically everything to get this tone. Been trying to find a direct answer to how to achieve it. Time to buy a DI box.
Yessss Vulfpeck!!!! Coversolutions you god
We need more Vulfpeck! Funky Joe Dart knows his was around a sweet line
Never heard of Vulpeck, until you last covered them. Their bassist is an absolute beast! Love this.
Speaking of beast...if you're probably new to Vulf, I recommend you listen to 'Beastly' and you'll know how much of a beast their bassist-Joe Dart-is.
Man I'm barely keeping up in the first half at like 90% speed, and then it gets funkier? This one is gonna take a while, but the beginning at least is super fun to play so I'm gonna give it a shot. Thanks for tabbing this one, must've been a big project.
This song makes me wanna dance!!
this cover makes me wanna dance!!
I've only been learning bass since lockdown started, i can play maybe 14 songs total. This needs to be my 15th. Many lucks will be needed.
Good luck
@@badsidhippo5664 thanks! Still learning it, slowly but surely getting there 😊
It's awesome that you took up an instrument to while away the time during lockdown! Good luck to you learning this song, and I hope that you continue to play bass. Nothing is quite as gratifying, rewarding, and fun as giving countless hours to learning an instrument.
CoverSolutions on the Washburn Bass!
underrated comment
Ive listened to this video so many more times than the studio recording I have to adjust to the fact that the bass line isnt overdubbed. Fabulous video. I REally could not be out here practicing without your work
Yes! I've been waiting for a good cover of this tune! Thanks! There's no way I'll ever be able to play it, but it will give me something fun to work on.
CoverSolutions, el pueblo necesita más covers tuyos de Vulfpeck por favor!!
One of your best, beautiful interpretation, especially the accentuations near the end on faster notes, played with more pop, I felt. Will definitely learn this one.
I’ve been learning this for a while now and it has continued to get funkier
Finally. Some lovely vulf. Great job bud
You are amazing!
Brazil here
I dont know if i could survive without this channel
Amazing cover. This song is insanely fun to jam to and very good for improvising as well. Love it!
Please do A Walk to Remember for your next Vulfpeck song. Some absolutely blistering licks in that one
with almost every Vulfpeck song its the same the difference b/w 75% and 100% is so so real.
My favorite vulfpeck song thank you
I went and saw vulfpeck at the Greek theater. Great performance
Thanks so much for all you do!
Wow. Amazing amazing work
Well done on the staccato, l love this song, the tight drums and the piano and bass blend perfectly, mmmm so good. 👌
Randomly decided to sight read a song ive never heard along with you, goddamn thats tricky! Really cool band
The lick at 4:17 is too groovy for me. Freakin Joe Dart on the fender bass
and is quite simple, just F major by thirds
i love it but at the same time it makes me sad because my hands are so smol that i can't play it :(
@@TRUETOILETTENPAPIER you need a short scale
@@TRUETOILETTENPAPIER Yes you can. Don't blame your hands. Get better.
@@TRUETOILETTENPAPIER I can play that and I'm only 5'3. Just practice enough and you will be able to play it too
YES I’ve been waiting for this good shit man it’s hard to play joe dart
Always appreciate Vulfpeck man
Never heard this before, but what an awesome bass line it is. Definitely gonna give it a try :D
I love Vulfpeck!!
hell yeah, joe is a beast! and so are you!
Wow, que locura de bajo, Joe Dart esta loco. Y vos no te quedas atrás amigo, ese bajo se prendió fuego
This is one of my favorites.
Thank you for making this video!
You nailed this one as usual! Joe Dart is one of the most talented newer bass players. I can definitely hear some Rocco Prestia and Jaco inspired riffs in there 🤩 By the way, have you thought about doing Dean Town on this channel too? You'd also be great with that one!
Wow, very funky. Love these guys and you.
Yess!! you really need to make a Dean town cover right now, saludos!
Its amazing.
I was waiting for you to post something fron Joe dart. Great job man
"the lick" is the stuff dreams are made of.
I come back to play along and make sure I stay humble
Can you please cover every Vulfpeck song? I literally would not be able to learn any of this stuff without these!!
Yay for Vulfpeck!
Just incredible, as always!!
Yes! More Vulfpeck pls!
I knew you would cover vulfpeck sometime soon, theyre gods, theyre not humans...
they are just humans who practiced and studied a lot
@@CoverSolutions Yeah i know it was just a crazy fan comment lol
How the hell could it get funkier?! Great job, buddy.
justo empiezo a escuchar Vulfpeck y a aprenderme sus lineas de bajo y subi esto, gracias sebita ;]
Think iv'e done it 100 times and still not have it well yet. But, hell, this band is awesome ! Great work CS ! Maybe you can do Cory Wong !
Absolutely hard song
Great cover man! Gonna see if I can't figure this out tomorrow.

@@CoverSolutions Thanks! I'll need it.
Hope it goes well!

Love Joe Dart. Great that you covered this tune. You definitely nailed it. No need for a mulligan. Next up: DEAN TOWN!
Yes please!!
i’m trying to work on it and i love this style of video, i’d love to see it here to help me learn it
Crazy good cover... Makes me want to try to learn this. I did notice that the tab seemed off by 1/16 but it looked totally correct otherwise.
I think you did a great job.
Just been playing this on Rocksmith and had to come here to see it actually being played - It gets ridiculous towards to end.
Holy shit that was incredible.
Woow!!! could you play flyers direct?? 😊

Do Show You the Way or Them Changes by Thundercat! I love the vids!
Yes!! Them changes would be so awesome! Need an accurate tutorial for it bc we're playing it in my band
Michael Turner I’d love to be in a band that would play Thundercat lol, I’m just having troubling learning it by ear and I can’t find any good rescourced
@@xanderdaniels8284 I know, all the tutorials gloss over how to play it. Plus it's on five string and I'm on four so I'm having a hard time trynna adapt it 😂
Michael Turner I’m sure missing a string or two makes it harder lol, do me a favor and come back here if you find anything good
@@xanderdaniels8284 Will do!
How about disco ulysses or dean town next?
YES
Disco Ulysses please 👏👏👏👏
That's actually not a very difficult song to learn. Check out Drake Martin - he has a cover on it with tabs and score available.
Next stop, Dean Town!!
holly shit this is funky
Awesome
awsome blossom!
My God!!!!!
Hey, how do you feel about fret wraps? I recently learned of them and cant wait to get one, and on the other hand my bass is actually missing its string tree/retainer, how important are trees? Luckily they are very cheap as well. And one last thing, have you ever used a capo on your bass? And what model if yes?
I just bough one in case but don't use it that much really. It can be used for solos or tapping. Mine has no retainer, i depends on construction i think. I never used a capo
CoverSolutions Thanks for the speedy reply!
Excelent!!!
Captain Hook de Vulfpeck tambien, tiene un buen solo de bajo ese tema
THOSE DAMN X'S
More vulfpeck
