+CarolinaGirl76 Heard some other stuff he's made but it couldnt come anywhere near to the quality of this album. Sadly. Guess he poored out all of his golden songs all at once while he really should have saved some for later on.
Pete is great. I've ignore him but I know I should listen to him more. But are you blind to one of Pete's favorite bands and my favorite all time: The Replacements.
I still have this CD from when I bought it back in 2001 at Circuit City. Was and still is one of my favorite albums. It takes me back to my life then when i was 20 years old and trying to figure life out. It's a bittersweet feeling. Being young and naive but still looking forward to living life with uncertainty. This music transcends time. Still feels relevant and special no matter the decade.
Me too, D One.. I got it from same place Circuit City🤷 I'm in my late 30's now, and it's crazy how mostly everything that reminds me of my childhood is gone. But Pete Yorn's music is a constant. It remains in my playlists.
Reminds of the first few years of my life with the love of my life.... we had 24 precious years. Now I live alone again. He just passed away two days after last Christmas.
This was a solid album. It takes me back to a time when popular music had electric guitars, singers mumbled in the verses and went up an octave / shouted choruses, and my friends and I all smoked inside bars without anyone raising an eye. Seriously good times, everyone was drunk, laughing, and girls bought our chat up lines.
I found a copy of the Pete Yorn album Music For The Morning After at a thrift shop a couple of days ago. I wish I would have heard it sooner. His music is fantastic.
Zachary, I have been listening to his music since the 90's and bought this album at a Circuit City... They've all closed their doors, but the music lives on.. I love my guy Pete!
I remember the exact moment I discovered this song and Musicforthemorningafter. It was sometime after moving to Spain, because the album came out in 2001, so I guess I was visiting my family in Buffalo NY, and I remember it being crazy hot, like 80 to 90 something degrees ánd very sunny, and I was in the car my mom used when visiting the US. It was a dark green volvo, I think, and I was barely 5 years old. We were driving on one of the main streets (it might have been the street called Maine Street even haha) in Buffalo, and I remember passing by the "Loui's hot dogs" there and I remember this song coming on. I remember I was completely captivated by the moment. I loved the melody, the voice, the whole thing. I guess I forgot about it entirely and was reminded of it when my mom put it in the VCR (I still have the CD) once in a while. But I kept forgetting it and never getting the name of the artist, album or anything. So once I was in my early teens, like 13 or 14, I remember I FINALLY got a hold of it. I took the CD to my room and played it on repeat for the first few weeks on my personal VCR and it became one of my top 10 albums in my life. My mom got tired of me playing it even haha. Musicforthemorningafter has been my hangover music since then and was my breakup music when I broke up with my highschool girlfriend when I was 18 or so. This album really shows me what a crazy, bumpy, curvy road my life has been, and what a beautiful one!
I know. It's unbelievable. Pete is the best I have discovered since the turn of the millennium. 21 years and he is still at the top of my chart. PJY is very innovative, from the primal one man / one guitar, wrote the music, wrote the words, to his astounding, full band studio productions. I have listened to all his albums hundreds of times. After first listening to Music For The Morning After, I did not have time to listen to another artist for maybe four years. Pete is the musician's musician. I would like to hear what Rick Beato has to say about this maestro. I almost feel guilty not having to share him with a billion others...
Well said. I was 18 when this song came out. I’m 38 now. Back then I had no cell phone or social media. My social media was meeting my friends and hanging out. Going for a ride in the car and listening to the radio waiting for your favorite song to come on. I wasn’t worried about work or politics. Most of my family was still alive. This song makes me realize it’s important to appreciate every day because life goes by very quickly.
I have this CD; bought it when it came out and LOVED it. Still do. So, loaned it to a friend recently and she did NOT like it. Am currently rethinking our friendship.
I was in 7th grade in '01. I also remember it on "John Q." Man, when did the time go by so quick? Fuckin A it holds up well. Great taste my man. Great taste.
Ringo Starr I remember my girlfriend at the time in 2001 put this song on and started dancing in the living room. Made her so happy listening to it and the whole album. I hear it now and it brings back the memories.
Just heard this song for the first time tonight. It's definitely one that you want to hear again and again. I don't listen to much music that has come out in the last thirty years. The 80s was my decade! Now and then though, I hear something that peaks my interest. Tonight it was this one. I will checking out Pete's music for sure.
I live on a chain I could listen to you till the end of time which we no there is no end Mr Pete yourn I have seen you soooo many x zTill the end of my dayzzz❤😂❤❤ I will always love❤❤❤❤ u .I hope❤❤❤ We meet again in a better world 🌎 u r my a sunshine 🎉
I live on a chain and you share the same last name, as a joke, I sent a bottle of whiskey, as you choked, you said it made you feel dirty, And I was waiting over here for life to begin, I was looking for the new thing, And you were THE sunshine heading my front-line, I was alone, you were just around the corner from me. Time alone is good, I spend my days in the city, Dirty neighborhood, you know you'll never convince me, So I sold the town away, I couldn't wait to forget you, I was killed in half a day, I hadn't time to regret you, And I was waiting over here for life to begin, I was looking for the new thing And you were the sunshine heading my front line, I was alone you were just around the corner from me. I, I'm still on the chain, and you, had the same last name, As a joke I sent a bottle of whiskey As you choked you said it made you feel dirty... Waiting over here, for life to begin, I was looking for the new thing, And you were the sunshine heading my front-line, I was alone, you were just around the corner from me.
The only positive thing about the pandemic is that my wife found Pete Yorn while looking for "new" music...yeah we now know it's not new but it is amazing and new to us! Thank you.

+CarolinaGirl76 Heard some other stuff he's made but it couldnt come anywhere near to the quality of this album. Sadly. Guess he poored out all of his golden songs all at once while he really should have saved some for later on.
agree .great album!
It's not well known because sheep have very poor eyesight.

@@alexisshepherd4666 just the thought of Life on a Chain gets me teary eyed.
Wow, man. It’s old for me too but you used every word in the same manner I think about this song. Perfectly. Thank you.
Reminds of the first few years of my life with the love of my life.... we had 24 precious years.
Now I live alone again. He just passed away two days after last Christmas.
@@benjaminscherliss4594 you're welcome.
One of the best albums of my lifetime. This songs reminds me of me and my high school sweetheart. So complicated.

Seriously good times, everyone was drunk, laughing, and girls bought our chat up lines.
Does anybody remember laugh...er, GUITARS?
Yes!!! Never got to smoke in a bar myself but yes!!
Remember hanging out with friends without everyone playing with their phones the entire time? Yeah…good times.
Yep 👍
I remember when smoking was banned in bars. Seriously a very good day.
KPNW 98.9 Seattle just played this. See, the good stuff always returns.
I found a copy of the Pete Yorn album Music For The Morning After at a thrift shop a couple of days ago. I wish I would have heard it sooner. His music is fantastic.
Same! I think it was 50 cents, maybe 95 cents.
Great song and album!
Zachary, I have been listening to his music since the 90's and bought this album at a Circuit City... They've all closed their doors, but the music lives on.. I love my guy Pete!
Wonder what he's doing now
Prophtic little song. I met my husband a couple years after it came out. I'd listen to it all the time.
He lived just around the corner from me.
I do. I'm 53 and this song puts a smile on my face every time I listen to it.

I forgot how much I loved Pete Yorn ❤️
I love the old people at the bar. YORN IS FOR ALL THE PEOPLE!
Forgot about this song. Reminds me of being young & traveling to philly to go bar hopping. Miss those days :(
I can hardly believe that this song is almost 23 years ago, seems like I was just listening to it on the radio, excellent song!!
I have this CD; bought it when it came out and LOVED it. Still do. So, loaned it to a friend recently and she did NOT like it. Am currently rethinking our friendship.
Be patient. Give her a few years. PJY is full of magic that, for some, just takes a few years of living to soak in.
I love this lp still to this date ❤️💙.
It has been a while since I have heard this song. Music For the Morning After, is an amazing album.
I loved this record when it came out in 2001. I was in sixth grade. Still holds up so so well.
I was in 7th grade in '01. I also remember it on "John Q." Man, when did the time go by so quick? Fuckin A it holds up well. Great taste my man. Great taste.
I feel old now
Was in third in 01. Didn't discover this till last month, when Strange Condition came on in Panera Bread.

I LOVE his music! Esp his lyrics. Thank you Michael Moreno 💋👼
My band covers this song in 2019. Just a great track.
Mike Kendall where are y’all playing, boss?
I live on a chain and you share the same last name, as a joke,
I sent a bottle of whiskey, as you choked,
you said it made you feel dirty,
And I was waiting over here for life to begin,
I was looking for the new thing,
And you were THE sunshine heading my front-line,
I was alone, you were just around the corner from me.
Time alone is good, I spend my days in the city,
Dirty neighborhood, you know you'll never convince me,
So I sold the town away, I couldn't wait to forget you,
I was killed in half a day, I hadn't time to regret you,
And I was waiting over here for life to begin,
I was looking for the new thing
And you were the sunshine heading my front line,
I was alone you were just around the corner from me.
I, I'm still on the chain, and you, had the same last name,
As a joke I sent a bottle of whiskey
As you choked you said it made you feel dirty...
Waiting over here, for life to begin,
I was looking for the new thing,
And you were the sunshine heading my front-line,
I was alone, you were just around the corner from me.
FRAULEIN... Not front line.
The only positive thing about the pandemic is that my wife found Pete Yorn while looking for "new" music...yeah we now know it's not new but it is amazing and new to us! Thank you.
I "discovered" the Stone Roses 20 years late, and this song just a few months ago.

Working my way through House again, and was reminded of this album when "Lose You" plays at the end of Kutner's goodbye episode.
