you know what, i love watching your videos for the one reason. you are a very wholesome man. you are who you are and share your passions. thank you for helping make me smile at the end of a pretty poor day. thank you paul please keep the content always coming
I've had one of these for a while. A bit heavy, but a great bit of kit. Tempted to get a another one because of the new detachable handles. Incidentally, we stabilise our one on the stove by temporarily placing a mug of coffee on top.
They are the number one camper must have. I just replaced mine last week as my old one was a little worn out. 😀 they are great for 3 fold tortilla wraps
Great to see a camper review this. Extremely versatile piece of kit Have the classic carper setup of Ridgemonkey and BulinT4 stove. A raft of recipes on RUclips from toasties to Bolognese. Heavier than most. Yep, but if part of the joy of camping is cooking good food at the end of a day rather than eating out of a bag, this is a great piece of kit.
I know people who swear by these and non-stick pans but personally I use a small cast iron skillet, yes they're heavier but I have had mine for 20 years got it when I first left home and use it cooking and camping , it can go on the embers of a fire etc and I know it'll last me another 20 years. Wish you all the best 👍
These are a cracking bit of kit, my RM has seen me through week long trips at the side of French lakes...my mate even cooks microwave chips in his .. 👍👍
Info for potential purchasers; Angling Direct, sometimes have these cheaper than the usual sellers we’ve all used before. Ps no I’m not connected to them.
The ridge monkey pan has been a big hit with the carp fishing lads for years Iv had my one years better now the handles come off as it’s not very packable the older models , my ones well used and cook fast and direct on fires and stoves ! No messing non stick still going strong , unless you use metal tools in it
Top tip for unemotional onion cutting .Turn on side and cut the top off, turn so the root is upside down, and slice downwards from about 5-10mm under the root, slice about half way into the onion, the width of your slice will reflect in how large the onion pieces are later. At this point you should have what resembles a Terrys chocolate orange but all stuck together at one end. This is point i peel, its so much easier, then turn on side and slice again, never cried over nunion since using this technique, lol, hope this helps.
I use them for my carp fishing and the ridge monkey gas stove is square and connects to a another stove so you can have to burners running from one stove. They have some awesome cooking range you should really check them out.
That looks fantastic Paul. Not sure id want to be lugging it too far in my backpack solo wild camping, but cracking piece of kit nonetheless. One for my birthday list. Ive got one of those knives too. Ultra sharp and very light!
Ridgemonkey are great. I’ve chucked mine in an open fire to cook steak probably getting on for hundreds of times by now. Still works fine. Looks a bit battered and bruised but, don’t we all? Suits me well. It makes an appearance in some of my videos. I made one called “The song of the paddle, a UK kayak camping trip”, used it on a campfire there on the riverside, you can see it in action. Shameless plug 🤣 Paul, I saw your community post. Would definitely like to see you kayak camping mate. Let me know if you wanted a trip…. Or just for me to share the location of the spot from my video. More than happy to share knowing it would be looked after. It’s an island on a river. Say 1 hour from Birmingham. Cheers
Looks like good gear, but the toasted sandwich you make in that thing is going to be a huge! Big enough to feed 3 men and a wee lad. 👍 And I think the loaf would need to be sliced longways!
these are absolutely brilliant pans i have 2 and about to buy another, here's a tip for beating eggs, don't use a fork, crack the eggs into a jar screw on the lid, shake for 3 seconds, DONE.
@@garyboyle695 yes I do , but this channel has gone like all the rest with loads of plugs and back handers . Yes I get it that they've got to earn a few bob but for me the best and only you tuber that hasn't sold out is Patrick Dickinson. Give him a watch, doing it for the love of it.
Got one of the earlier ones that don't have the lid lock system or the removable handles. Never used it since the 'stove ban' at work, which is why I got mine... Maybe check out the 'SQ' or 'NGT' pan.... A bit like a Ridgemonkey, but bigger and deeper...
I have 2 different sized Ridge Monkeys and love them. I broke the 1st one I bought when trying to separate the 2 pans to use them as 2 frying pans. I was surprised how easily the pins snapped off but it was my fault.
@@Paulo-nf7ms It had been a while since I used it and I’d forgotten it had to be in a certain position to separate them. It’s not a mistake I’ll make again but it is was easy to do.

Can see it as a nice bit of gear if your on a camp site but to big for me wildcamping kit. But maybe if you could take it out on a wild camp paul to see if it takes up.much room in your rucksack🤔
Always nice to see people using prep knives instead of bashing through food with a massive bushcraft knife. They're small and light, no idea why others don't take one along instead of cutting a steak or potato like their trying to baton wood 🤣
Oh heck. I wish I had clicked your link. I searched Amazon and bought the ridge monkey and when it came it is tiny. I wondered why it was so cheap at less than 20 quid. Still bloody good though. I'll get the bigger one now.

The secret to not crying when cutting onions is to not form an emotional bond with the onion.
😂👍
Onion or no onion, you can't help who you fall in love with, my ex wife was in love with a cucumber, I could never understand why🤭😊

Perfect for campervan also - you can fry stuff with no splatter all over the inside of the van so less cleanup and less smell lingering too!
Basically a Northern Jamie Oliver!
Thanks for this, it is exactly what i was looking for.

Thanks for the kind upload and letting us know about this very handy product, Paul.
I bought one of these after watching this video Paul, just made a gorgeous Omelette, thanks for the tip !
