The secret to not crying when cutting onions is to not form an emotional bond with the onion.
😂👍
Onion or no onion, you can't help who you fall in love with, my ex wife was in love with a cucumber, I could never understand why🤭😊
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Brilliant !
They are the number one camper must have. I just replaced mine last week as my old one was a little worn out.
😀 they are great for 3 fold tortilla wraps
you know what, i love watching your videos for the one reason. you are a very wholesome man. you are who you are and share your passions. thank you for helping make me smile at the end of a pretty poor day. thank you paul please keep the content always coming
Perfect for campervan also - you can fry stuff with no splatter all over the inside of the van so less cleanup and less smell lingering too!
I've had one of these for a while. A bit heavy, but a great bit of kit. Tempted to get a another one because of the new detachable handles. Incidentally, we stabilise our one on the stove by temporarily placing a mug of coffee on top.
Apple & Pear pie with Cinnamon made with puff pastry , it's amazing the things you can Cook in it , the list is endless
Basically a Northern Jamie Oliver!
Thanks for this, it is exactly what i was looking for.
I don't recall Paul ever attacking school dinners!
@@Xeechu Only if he's hungry.
Ridgemonkey are great.
I’ve chucked mine in an open fire to cook steak probably getting on for hundreds of times by now. Still works fine. Looks a bit battered and bruised but, don’t we all? Suits me well.
It makes an appearance in some of my videos. I made one called “The song of the paddle, a UK kayak camping trip”, used it on a campfire there on the riverside, you can see it in action. Shameless plug 🤣 Paul, I saw your community post. Would definitely like to see you kayak camping mate. Let me know if you wanted a trip…. Or just for me to share the location of the spot from my video. More than happy to share knowing it would be looked after. It’s an island on a river. Say 1 hour from Birmingham.
Cheers
Info for potential purchasers; Angling Direct, sometimes have these cheaper than the usual sellers we’ve all used before. Ps no I’m not connected to them.
I bought one of these after watching this video Paul, just made a gorgeous Omelette, thanks for the tip !
The ridge monkey pan has been a big hit with the carp fishing lads for years Iv had my one years better now the handles come off as it’s not very packable the older models , my ones well used and cook fast and direct on fires and stoves ! No messing non stick still going strong , unless you use metal tools in it
Great bit of kit, I love mine. I use it in and around the camper-van. Useful for minimising the fat splashes when cooking a full English in the van .
Wow the pan you are showing it really helpful for me👍🏻 Nonstick, compact and easy to use ! 😀
I like your channel and I’m gonna keep watching
I know people who swear by these and non-stick pans but personally I use a small cast iron skillet, yes they're heavier but I have had mine for 20 years got it when I first left home and use it cooking and camping , it can go on the embers of a fire etc and I know it'll last me another 20 years. Wish you all the best 👍
Thanks for the kind upload and letting us know about this very handy product, Paul.
These are a cracking bit of kit, my RM has seen me through week long trips at the side of French lakes...my mate even cooks microwave chips in his .. 👍👍
Love your videos. Informative, but chilled.
These have been around for years. Great for pies, bit overkill for an omlettle lol.
£29.99 delivered from Angling Direct 😉
Just invested in one. Off tomorrow in my camper... Breakfast sorted. Thanks
Used one of these for a while whilst fishing. Quality products from Ridgemonkey
Great to see a camper review this.
Extremely versatile piece of kit
Have the classic carper setup of Ridgemonkey and BulinT4 stove.
A raft of recipes on RUclips from toasties to Bolognese. Heavier than most. Yep, but if part of the joy of camping is cooking good food at the end of a day rather than eating out of a bag, this is a great piece of kit.
I bought one for my. Campervan best ever game changer
I think Paul, this could easily turn into a very successful cooking channel :)
For my next lesson I will be using the Ridgemonkey to cook a full 3 course meal whilst wild camping at the top of a Munrow! (Great video).
Thanks for sharing Paul looks a cracking piece of kit will have a look at getting on of these...very impressive 👍
Just ordered one, looks great and compact. Nice one Paul.
Love it. I am going to look into for my Scout troop as something different to cook with
these are absolutely brilliant pans i have 2 and about to buy another, here's a tip for beating eggs, don't use a fork, crack the eggs into a jar screw on the lid, shake for 3 seconds, DONE.
Excellent review. Thanks.
I use them for my carp fishing and the ridge monkey gas stove is square and connects to a another stove so you can have to burners running from one stove. They have some awesome cooking range you should really check them out.
I like that one mate, looks decent quality 👍🏻 top product again, have a good weekend with the chewing pooch 👍🏻
Cheers mate. The chewing could come in handy. When I buy new gear I’ll just tell Jo that Reggie chewed the old stuff 😂. Have a great weekend mate.
@@PaulMessner 😂😂 have a good weekend boss
Great bit of kit, Paul.... it is very versatile to say the least.
Cheers from Down Under
I love mine. Top tip, lowest heat possible and you can bake cookie dough!
Just got one of these! Fits alright on a Jetboil w some attention to balance
That looks fantastic Paul. Not sure id want to be lugging it too far in my backpack solo wild camping, but cracking piece of kit nonetheless. One for my birthday list. Ive got one of those knives too. Ultra sharp and very light!
I got one.in.my van like you I was late to the party my god its good
That is awesome!! Sold! Haha... thanks Paul 🤗😃👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Got one of the earlier ones that don't have the lid lock system or the removable handles. Never used it since the 'stove ban' at work, which is why I got mine... Maybe check out the 'SQ' or 'NGT' pan.... A bit like a Ridgemonkey, but bigger and deeper...
The steam rack you can get for this is worth getting too.
Cooking in your backyard like Sam the Cooking Guy, love it.
Very good, thanks
Been on my wish list for a while nice to see one in action 👍🏻
Top tip for unemotional onion cutting .Turn on side and cut the top off, turn so the root is upside down, and slice downwards from about 5-10mm under the root, slice about half way into the onion, the width of your slice will reflect in how large the onion pieces are later. At this point you should have what resembles a Terrys chocolate orange but all stuck together at one end. This is point i peel, its so much easier, then turn on side and slice again, never cried over nunion since using this technique, lol, hope this helps.
Great piece of kit that ridgemonkey, you sold me on it , just ordered get it tomorrow, cannot wait , good review Paul , ATB ⛺️
Nice kit for the van conversion. Steak and asparagus next time please Paul..!! Cheers..
I totally read that wrong, I thought it said Paul Messner cooks a monkey! Ha Ha!
Would it taste like swan?
@@awatt I heaard they taste like chicken.
What is happening to this channel that I love , don't need a cook off .What we want is you wild camping .
Don't you eat when you wild camp, what a man.
@@garyboyle695 yes I do , but this channel has gone like all the rest with loads of plugs and back handers . Yes I get it that they've got to earn a few bob but for me the best and only you tuber that hasn't sold out is Patrick Dickinson. Give him a watch, doing it for the love of it.
Doma také utíráš sklenice a talíře jen toaletním papírem?
That’s a really, really cool bit of kit
Think the egg shell police were dying to jump on that one!
Looks like good gear, but the toasted sandwich you make in that thing is going to be a huge! Big enough to feed 3 men and a wee lad. 👍
And I think the loaf would need to be sliced longways!
Looks flipping eggselent 😉
I'll definitely be getting one of those
Cheers Paul 👍
a neat bit of kit, with a great name
Can see it as a nice bit of gear if your on a camp site but to big for me wildcamping kit. But maybe if you could take it out on a wild camp paul to see if it takes up.much room in your rucksack🤔
What a cool gadget.
Ridge monkey make great camping kit.
Not into fishing, but love some of their gear.
Paul Paninis are spot on cooked on these, apart from everything else..
I have 2 different sized Ridge Monkeys and love them. I broke the 1st one I bought when trying to separate the 2 pans to use them as 2 frying pans. I was surprised how easily the pins snapped off but it was my fault.
I was just wondering how do-able that would be. Seems like they are missing a trick by not making it simple to split into two pans.
@@Paulo-nf7ms It had been a while since I used it and I’d forgotten it had to be in a certain position to separate them. It’s not a mistake I’ll make again but it is was easy to do.
@@BSmith244 I now realise that I missed the bit of the video where Paul demonstrates it can be done. I misunderstood and thought you were trying to do something that wasn't part of the design. It's useful to know there is a risk though in the way you describe so thanks for the info.
Oh heck. I wish I had clicked your link.
I searched Amazon and bought the ridge monkey and when it came it is tiny. I wondered why it was so cheap at less than 20 quid.
Still bloody good though.
I'll get the bigger one now.
Hi Paul 👋🏻 Can you tell me the name of the flask thing you use for your alcohol fuel please? I can't see it listed in the gear you use in the description. Thank you.
Google "trangia fuel bottle" they come in 3 sizes 300, 500 and 1 litre.
Cheers mucker just bought one good review
I purchased the smaller ridge monkey and find it a proper pain in the ar*e to try and balance it on any cooker. The handles are heavier than the ban and tip it off the cooker.
Actually, omelettes are cooked on one side only, then stuffed and then folded or rolled. This is a frittata instead
1 of your fingers went in paul-the sharpness of the knife 😱😂
Never knew i can make an omelet in a square shape also😄
I would buy it, but for the kitchen.
Has it been tried & tested for a couple of nights on the hills
Looks a great bit of kit , shame the handles won't do well on an open fire ( i might be wrong )
Nice video. So, ridgemonkey vs jetboil skillet?
Can you use this as a frying pan when you split it
That looks a great but of kit! Yummy ☺️
Just an FYI, If you guys share food with little Reggie never give him anything with onions as they are incredibly poisonous to dogs.
Always nice to see people using prep knives instead of bashing through food with a massive bushcraft knife. They're small and light, no idea why others don't take one along instead of cutting a steak or potato like their trying to baton wood 🤣
If it's cut up enough does it really matter how it was cut
Need more camper van videos
Oh man that omelette looks so good. Making me hungry Paul.
Cheers
another great video
Great clip as always by the way
Is there a way to buy this product in the US? I’ve searched but all sellers I can find won’t ship here 😢
Looks excellent!
Great vid mate, paul is the one you have the compact one or xl?
Great for us angler loads recipes on YT 🙂👍👍👌
ruclips.net/p/PLDU54WlPj7mFvru0rLkYrzKOOc83pBefD
Great video and pan! To bad the seller dosent ship to Norway.
Hi Paul you need ridge monkey stove it's epic 👍
This is a great bit of kit, check out ridge monkey recipes they make loads of videos and post them on RUclips, most are made with the Ridgemonkey pan that you are using in mind.
Great video and that Ridgemonkey is so well priced. I expected it to be double the price.
What’s the knife you are using?
It’s an Opinel number 8. Very sharp and great for food prep.
Brilliant Paul was that the XL OR the compact mate? All the best marra 👍🏕
This one is the xl Gary. The compact will do a toasty size.
@@PaulMessner thanks appreciated mate 👍
Do you still use the ridgemonkey and how's it doing a year later and the utensils handles etc
I'd say it gets used 4 or 5 times a week but we use it at home on our hob for things like omelettes, toasties, frying salmon etc. The non stick is superb. Everything is still working great. We don't tend to pack it away though. We keep the handles attached and utensils in the drawer as we use it that often
@@PaulMessner thanks for your reply Paul hope you and the family are well, I've now ordered one they have a new granite range now
Need to get me one of them 👍🏕
Hi paul. Is yours the compact one or the xl version ????
Is that the xl size.
think am getting one of them they look the dogs, that omelette looked ok as well, cheers paul 👍
Did you have any omelette with your butter paul 😂😂😂 great yoke, pardon the BAD pun
my dads gave me a ridge money connect, just the standard one not xl. haven’t had a chance to use it yet. wonder if a little chicago town pizza will fit in it.
Yes it will you just have to set your stove to as low as possible
I am not associated to Ridge Monkey.
Note - this is the perfect kit for a converted van - they do griddle pans, pots, bowls, plates, cutlery too. There's even luggage to carry it all in. Compact, easy storage and cleaning.
BUT......
They also have a playlist of things you can cook, here - ruclips.net/p/PLDU54WlPj7mFvru0rLkYrzKOOc83pBefD
Enjoy, because cooking with the Ridge Monkey is massively addictive....and it all started with a toastie.
Hey Paul
Dog seems to be fitting in nice .
What did You name him ?
Hope Your taking him for lots of good walks to drain off his excess puppy energy .
Mike.
Mike, they called him Reggie.
Great now i want an omelette
Had one a year or so now. Brill bit of kit.
Wow looking so yummy new friend here🎁🔔👍
Anything ridge monkey is amazing, they are masters of really good quality gear, your paying a premium for their stuff though.
Do you recommend the ugq bandit
