I am sad that there are so many ways that people can get discouraged. Sewing garments is completely different than curtains or quilting which are more DIY friendly. I have made clothes that i was never happy with and then never wore. And I spent a lot of money on materials. I was blaming pattern companies for a long time until your analysis here. It has opened my mind to the many factors. But i still love sewing! Thank You ❤❤❤

Thanks for watching and commenting. I think your right. The quilting patterns tend to give more details without assuming the end user knows the basics. Whereas most garment patterns leave a lot to interpretation.

Sewing requires patience and time; I ALWAYS have problems if I try to rush. Sewing clothes can be approached almost as art - care & attention to detail are a big part - you get out of a project what you put in. That was a good point about making a sample garment first - sometimes you get lucky and end up with 2 wearable items! A muslin seems like a lot of extra steps, but it would be worth it for sure!

Thanks. Zippers and buttonholes always frustrated me

Zippers and buttonholes are the only part of sewing that makes me want to curse. LOL
