  • Wanna learn how to boost out of quarters? Click that link to have boss of all things transition, Gary Young, do his best to teach you how to roast. This is definitely one of the most fundamental things every rider should learn simply because it helps you overcome the fear of one of the best things about BMX, getting air. And then there's everything else that comes with that: speed, tricks, transfers, women, money, fast cars...you know.

the learning curve on airs is so crazy. once you get past that initial fear of both tires over the coping, the rest comes naturally

I'm a 36 yo mountain biker but I found a skatepark on a ride one day with lots of different sized quarters. Thought it looked so fun so I got a BMX off marketplace, fixed it up real nice, and headed down. After an hour I really started building skills and gaining confidence until I went too fast into a quarter, panicked, & ditched the bike... I'm determined to head back and catch some air after this vid thank you

This video is so old and so short and still the most helpful one around. I never thought about going sideways first, I always try and go straight on and 180 and it just freaks me the fuck out, but that's what every video said to do first. His sideways small rotation looked so much easier to get comfortable with

Thank you. I've never really been a skate park person but I've gotten curious how all that ramp riding works. This helps me out so I have more knowledge on how to ride. I mean,I wouldn't really be doing tricks,so that's all I need to know. All my bike doesn't have is a gyro. It wasn't really meant for skate parks. It has the capabilities though because it does have a small sprocket like freestyle bmx bikes.

I'm left foot forward, butdo flat ground 180's to my left, but when i'm practicing airing quarters, i go right.... am i dumb? it just feels safer and more natural.. i've been riding for about a year, and skateboarding for 12+ years. on a board riding regular(left foot in front), i 180 to my right. I feel weird.

    • @ridebmx

Its never a bad idea to learn both ways but generally speaking, finding the easiest side and sticking to it at first will help you perfect it better than randomly spinning anyway and not having perfect control. Im left foot forward and spin to the right. But you do you
