I had the pleasure of seeing Michel in concert about 4-5 years ago, front row, center seating - what a privilege it was. Beautiful music, beautiful mind - I will miss him.

My god. I used to play tennis next to this genius in the Forest Hills at Porte de la Chapelle club in Paris late at night. He would play tennis after recording in a studio near by, but even though I knew who he was, didn’t ever talk to him since I didn’t want to bug him during his leisure time. Love all his music and he has inspired some of my own piano music themes. Love the way his jazz improvising still allows the average listener to follow what he is doing (not too abstract as some jazz improvising is).

La musique devrait toujours être cela… Du jeu ! Comme entre mômes. Superbe version !

If it takes forever I will wait for you
For a thousand summers I will wait for you
Till you're back beside me, till I'm holding you
Till I hear you sigh here in my arms
Anywhere you wander, anywhere you go
Every day remember how I love you so
In your heart believe what in my heart I know
That forevermore I will wait for you
The clock will tick away the hours one by one
Then the time will come when all the waiting's done
The time when you return and find me here and run
    Straight to my waiting arms
If it takes forever I will wait for you
For a thousand summers I will wait for you
Till you're here beside me, till I'm touching you
    And forevermore sharing your love

Legrand created music will never die ...

I had the unbelievable luck to see the amazing Michel Legrand perform this, along with other famous compositions of his, a week ago (he is now 80 years old!).... he is a living legend jazz pianist virtuoso as well as an incredible composer of beautiful film scores and jazz standards.... and just plain funny, sweet and adorable in person...

I listen to music with earbuds while working. It helps me concentrate. Then I started listening to this and had to stop in the first notes, thinking: "Do I really want to do this now? Cry at work?"
This song and the movie are the most wonderful things and make me just too emotional. Love Michel Legrand.Genius.
