So Inside Edition's Chief Investigative Correspondent Lisa Guerrero was excited to give it a shot, recording the entire process from start to finish to share on her RUclips channel. The procedure involves slicing the skin with a razor-sharp blade and implanting ink under the brows. Guerrero went to a registered nurse and made sure she used new, sterile blades. Whenever you pierce the skin there is a chance that your normal staph bacteria, which can’t penetrate your skin without a wound, could get into the wound and infect it. People should realize that if you pierce skin then it can get infected in a billion ways

An infection from the shop wouldve shown within a few hours. This is an aftercare problem. Staph lives on the skin, and this kind of procedure should be cleaned regularly, and NO MAKEUP on fresh work. I'm guessing she didn't wash the area thoroughly enough after the procedure because the skin was tender.
Sea salt rinses can effectively prevent staph infections. Also, if you do get a staph infection it's recommended to use HIBICLENS or another over the counter surgical soap to cleanse the area and take oral antibiotics.

I thought the same thing, after my mother had cataract surgery some of the other patients waiting to see the optometrist for the follow up complained about having to do the eye drops post surgery. My mum was diligent and recovered nicely.
An infection that is first appearing is most likely just going to be some basic symptoms, such as redness, swelling, maybe some pus/oozing. So these symptoms would be similar to the same things that happen after you get micro bladed and you wouldn’t know the difference until it’s given a few days to calm down and not be so red and swollen, or until it starts really looking nasty. While I do agree that because it’s staph it is most likely from after care, it’s not 100% necessarily. There could have been left over staph on the blade, we don’t know if they were cleaned or not or how thoroughly they were cleaned etc. we only saw after it was immediately done and then a few days later infection in full force. Never saw anything in between so it’s possible she could have been showing signs of infection way before that, I mean that infection she showed after just a few days looked pretty gnarly so I’m sure she already was showing signs of infection. End of story is we don’t know what caused the infection.

I've had mine done 4-5 times now without any issues. You really do have to do your research and find a person with a lot of experience and good reference photos. I've had the same lady do mine for the last 5 years. I travel an hour to go see her every year or so for a touchup because I'd rather not have someone I don't know do them.

Microblading is normally extremely safe. My mom does it as part of her profession. This person may have not had the proper training or messed up. Its part of the risk when you sign up for it. Just make sure to check before hand when it comes to the person's background in training.
It's so sad to me that people don't love their natural selves. I'm guilty of it too though.

That's what I said in my head!
Having micro bladed my own eyebrows multiple times. I believe this was not causes by the person performing the micro blading. I believe the fault was in the after care. Sometimes even reusing the same blade I used the previous time. I obviously disinfected the blade & tool before reusing. After care should only require washing the area that was micro bladed once or twice daily and applying a light layer of triple antibiotic ointment after washing for about 3/4 days after procedure you should have no issues. I even reused a blade I has used the time before. Obviously the tool & blade were disinfected before reusing. If you touching, allowing your hair to touch area, applying make up or anything else with the acception of triple antibiotic ointment that's the issue. If you listen to & follow your after care instructions. These issue could have been avoided.

I feel so bad for the lady who got infected from the procedure that her daughters gifted her for birthday. I would be so upset if that happened to me as a daughter or mother.
Honestly sometimes you can do everything right. Check to make sure they have certification, change gloves, have sterile equipment and it can all go haywire because of something little. I never had microblading done... I just know from tattoos I've gotten. The ink the person used was different from what they normally use and I was allergic and my body pushed the ink out and got all infected. It was gross.
