I am a child of the 80s. None of the schools I ever went to called home because a kid didn't show up for class. You were simply marked absent, and the number of times absent was noted on your report card.

David Harbour is amazing. Jim Hopper is one of my favorite TV character.

I'm glad to see that you're fully invested in the story and the characters. The whole cast is amazing, combined with excellent writing and filming - I haven't gotten tired of re-watching this!

I had a recliner in college that was so comfortable that I put it out on my covered balcony and slept out there when all I needed was a blanket and was warm enough. Loved it.
TV shows in the 80's often times ended an episode on a cliffhanger. This was to build drama and also to hook the viewer into watching next week's show. Stranger Things does this so well.
This show as a new mom is a very different experience.
In the 80s, right before the 10 pm news, they literally had to run an ad reminding parents they had kids and do they know where they were. Parents never knew or cared where we were. Gone all day supposed to be home when the street lights were on.
I feel bad for Mary watching this show with a new baby 😭 but it's okay since Eleven is a badass

On the Papa subject. As an American I've heard both used. Dad seems more utilized.
Papa is a more personal and affectionate term. You don't tell your friends. "I can't go tonight, my Papa needs my help"
Someone people may, but it feels more natural as an affectionate term. Like "How are you feeling tonight Papa?" But I've heard both of them

Not sure if others mentioned this... you may not have understood the "pack of Camels" line. Camel is a brand of cigarettes that was popular in the 80s.

I saw an interview a year or two ago with one of the kid actors that was one of the kids you see in the background around the school and such, and he said he really didn't know much about the show, just what was in the scenes he was in because his parents wouldn't let him watch it - they felt it was not at all age appropriate for him to watch.
I have been known to fall asleep in a LA Z Boy. I didn't make a habit of it though.
You're going to love this series, particularly the more you grow to know and love the characters... and see events unfold. 👾 Thanks again, Mary!

Who is the person that’s going around telling reactors that Stranger Things is a kids show?😒This is the second reaction channel I’ve heard say this this week. There is no way they’ve actually watched the show.
I TOTALLY agree. I've heard 2 or 3 people describe it as a kids show, prior to viewing. WHAT? It's not a kid's show... at all. They murdered Benny in the 1st damn episode and made it look like a suicide in the 2nd. Kids show?? WTF?
It is the people who have not seen the show. They're judging the cover before they read the book.
I think it's somebody who edits a bunch of channels.
I believe in the first episode reaction there was an edit clarifying that they did not tell Mary it was a kids' show -- I imagine she probably heard "kids" and thought kids' show :)
@@Jessica_Jones You're probably right. A cast that is largely kids would serve that conclusion.
But all ST fans know that it's very adult and gets more so with later seasons 😜

El has never gotten to be a girl so seeing Nancy and her room being a young girl she wants hair like that
Oh, yeah, we do use papa for dads, but more often we use variations of dad and use papa for grandpas.
General rule of thumb: people are morons. No matter what anyone says about something, experience it for yourself, and form your own opinion.

I hate horror but loved this series.
