my mom did eventing and one day she was jumping and her horse refused and she fell and her helmet split in half. If Raleigh really had riding and training experience I doubt she'd say helmets aren't good. That is ridiculous

I've been pretty discouraged watching other videos lately that portray helmets as bad, so I'm glad someone had the guts to make a video like this one I totally get that wearing a helmet is a personal decision and that it doesn't protect you from EVERY possible outcome...but I'll tell you something, my worst riding accident I was stepped on four times after being dragged under the horse. One of those times was on my head. My helmet was crushed...I walked away with barely a mild concussion. Without my helmet, I would definitely be dead or brain damaged. So, personally, I always choose to wear mine.
I see so many comments saying "Well it's their decision if they don't wear one it doesn't affect anyone else!" Yes, it affects so many people. People care about you. If you fall off without a helmet and get kicked in the head, you will almost certainly die. Even if you don't, you could become injured or end up with a TBI. Guess who that affects? Your family. Your friends. They are the ones who have to go through the anxiety of you getting injured and recovery. They are the ones who have to take care of you or organize your funeral. It's so incredibly selfish to think that not wearing a helmet only affects you.
As an English and western cross rider there’s a time, place, and style for without a helmet. Most western riders don’t wear helmets. We also don’t jump obstacles over one foot and we are in a more supportive saddle. English riders normally wear helmets. We ride in a less supportive saddle, some of us jump regularly, and the horses are on average larger than western horses.
Serious note; I don’t get why people want to not wear helmets. If you can throw a cap on you can throw a helmet on, half the time I forget mines even on, why would you even take the chance? Aside from that this video is gold and I love it.

Helmets are sooo important! My sister was riding in a riding hall, but her horse got spooked so she was thrown off head first into the wall. Her helmet cracked, but the doctor said that if she hadn’t worn a helmet, she could have gotten some very serious injuries.

No matter how well you know your horse, there's always a chance that something will happen where you fall off your horse, and sometimes that can end up giving you some serious damage. In those cases, a helmet will do so you take a little less damage, and it can actually save your life in some cases.
