Hey guys, thanks for tuning in, today I'll be telling you why the Hamilton Khaki Mechanical is almost the perfect the field watch. Have a great day guys.
Ah... I have the Bulova Hack Watch arriving today, the one with red inner numbers on a black dial. My grandpa wore one on submarine duty, Pacific Fleet WW2, US Navy. I love the Hamilton, but chose Bulova for the connection. I still have his old watch. Thanks for another wonderful video !
Just got one. Agree on the points it should have ar and 100m water resistance. But the winding is BUTTER 🤤 legibility of the dial even with reflections is fine for the most part. It’s a killer watch
It's a classic clean and symmetrical looking watch. The watch goes so well with the olive strap with its brown leather accents. But I'm not a fan of two pass natos, due to the bulk they show on wrist. How about a comparison between a Hamilton and a Seiko SRPG at some point?
Absolutely mate, yeah the strap is good quality but does ride a smidge high. The leather one I have is a little slimmer but still too thick. Currently looking for a nice single pass or two-piece to pair with it. Would be quite interesting but I think they are quite different and the comparison would be a bit hard to do. But never say never especially if I can get one cheap enough.
It is 380 dollars for an 80hours power reserve, 50-meter wr, almost (if not precisely) chronometer specs field watch based on Hamilton’s WWII watches (a lot of history there). You simply can't beat that. There's no other watch at that price with better quality and specs. The AR “issue”... Just get the white dial or pay $500 for the 42mm-date version.
I agree about the AR coating, but do you really think that 160 ft under water isn’t enough for an everyday watch? It’s easy to say that it isn’t because most everyone else on RUclips says so, but do you truly believe what you’re saying? Also, I’ve owned countless watches at many different price points, and I can assure you that you get a literal TON of value with this watch, and with Hamilton in general. In fact, give me 100 watches that have as much bang for your buck as the KFM.
The overlength lugs spoil this watch in my opinion. Typical of Swatch Group (Tissot, Certina, Hamilton etc.), on the rare occasion when the watch is a reasonable diameter for a slim wrist it does not fit that well due to the protruding lugs. They need to look at how Seiko and Citizen design 40mm+ diameter watches that still wear OK on a slim wrist. Good review though.
The real ONE THING that would make this watch perfect, is an extra 1/16 of an inch LONGER minute hand, so that it penetrates the chapter ring. More WR and anti-reflectance is just gold plating, not necessary. Significantly shortening the lugs would be nice too.
I love them, but this "field" watch likely wouldn't have survived my time in the Infantry and beyond, with only 50m/splash water resistance. I have a Pulsar G10 cheap quartz one I got from a British squaddie and even that has 100m.
Good, fair review. I could have 12 of my Lorus Lumibrite field watches for less money. I know it's quartz but Hamilton, to me, overreaches on their prices a bit. For $300 USD it would be intriguing
I like the size but I agree with you on the wr and better lume would be nice too. I didn't mind the strap but it's definitely not my favourite. Thanks for watching
@@WesWatchRoom Sometimes my frustration shows. I am desperate for a true-to-original (including size) post-war field watch homage - like a Mark 11 or a Seiko RAF. There is the Smiths Navigator and the rather rustic G10s but virtually nothing else. Thanks for the nice review.

Will you be able to convert your captioning into closed caption so we can watch it without having to rely on the dreaded auto captioning only?

That's amazing, it's always great to find a watch with a deeper connection. Hope you wear it in good health mate
I’ve got 7.5 inch wrist so the longer lugs are a godsend, it makes the watch wear well.

Thanks so much for the quality review!
No problems and thank you for that
Drilled lug holes are handy for taking straps off etc, but I prefer not to have them and have quick release straps as standard.
Agree there mate, not sure why all two piece straps don't have them now as standard. Suppose drilled lugs are still handy for natos
Great watch, I have two both 38mm one with date window at 3pm.

You're right, it is amazing, I have the white dial and its my favourite field watch. Still wish it had 100m as I can live without the AR.
The brown dial also doesn't have any reflection issues I had been hearing about. Mines running -1.5 spd.

It’s a very nice watch. Great dimensions as well.
Absolutely mate, still just a little short from perfect though
Great video👌 thanks for sharing ☺️
Thank you
Prefer The older ones which have a smoother highbeat movement. Recent versions are jerky lowbeat.
I always thought they were 21600. The more you know. Thanks 👍
Lowbeat is much better. 80hr power reserve, still accurate and a vintage feel
You are right mate, can't really justify the price they are asking.
Definitely not until they give us AR and better water resistance

It's still a nice watch definitely need a 100m WR anytime I hear field watch I think it has 100m
100% agree mate, especially for any everyday style/ adventure watch
do you know how many reviews have been done on this field watch=hamilton? answer alot...
It's got It's flaws but if you can get one at a decent price it's a nice watch. Thanks for the video 👍
Absolutely, that's exactly what I did. Thanks for watching

I agree there. It's one of this watches biggest problems. It definitely could have and should have been better for the price.
Oh, the pair... Any chance for a trio??? 😏💕💘
Haha, not sure they actually make another colour of this one. I think they have a bigger size though. Thanks for the support mate
50 m water resistance is more than anyone would need in this life for a watch. And 30 m is enough.

That's a very fair point and exactly the reason I bought one off eBay. Thanks for watching
I got mine for $330 in a liquidation sale
@@Ferien7 that's a pretty good buy
It would be a must-have if it was 36mm, 1 bar WR, with decent lume and a less cheesy strap, preferably a plain Nato.
I like the size but I agree with you on the wr and better lume would be nice too. I didn't mind the strap but it's definitely not my favourite. Thanks for watching

@@Bonpu I see, have you taken a look at cwc, I think they might have something similar to what you are after. Could be worth a look.
