@@rc-my9tc I mean the magic as in writing new sounding, good music ended at or after 'Don't You Forget About Me'... Playing live I'd think is the same as their 1980s skill level or better.

Absolutely spot on. I’m 59 now and at age 17 in 81 into my second year of apprenticeship. Fantastic music and Simple Minds were gods in the Edinburgh music scene.
I bought the album New Gold Dream solely on the fact that it was a cool album cover. I also bought U2’s War album that same day, but I knew something about them. My greatest one-day album purchases ever? No doubt.
'Big Music ' of the finest order ...Add Big Country and The Waterboys = Perfection , music that is still amazing after all these years ...We were blessed eh !
Wow!...Awesome live instrumental! Band is on fire...Perfect timing. Charlie Burchill is perhaps the most underrated guitarist in the world. Class Act.👏 And THAT drummer (Cherisse Osei)...She can hammer it out! 👍

Truth be told, I first heard this from the remix Raven Maize did call The Real Life. The original is awesome, but clubbing back in the UK when the remix came out were such fond memories for me, so it has my vote!! That being said I do absolutely love Simple Minds and their latest tracks are also fantastic!
Saw Jim and Charlie interviewed recently saying that things move on and change and that they must do too. I loved the look and sound of the band years back but still think they're a great live experience. Band members change and with it the overall feel but I reckon the current line up is great - not Mel, Derek and Mick but still fantastic.
What that's basic as fuck if you want to watch a real drummer and a solo watch Neal Pearts solo live in Frankfurt and see the greatest rock drummer that has ever lived.
The new band is good and fresh.... and to the people who keep whining...just put on the old vids and stuff if you like...but stop complaining and being hateful like a little child.. we all heard it by now.. its like keeping stuck in an old dried out marriage...
This performance is great, but i was there in Murcia and i have never heard a band playing louder than the Simple Minds did. Not even Ted Nugent... It was a good performance, but too loud.
Where's the keyboard player ? Tell me it's not pre - recorded keyboards. I hate when bands you've loved go from five members, down to two, and then just hire other musicians to fill in. It's time to either get the original members, or most of them, back together, or pack it in, call it a day.
Part of my life since 1981, I'm 60 years old now and loving everything they do, what great memories this track revives!
Don't you feel they lost their magic after the mid 80s? Like once they had their biggest hit, their sound was too pop.

The Bass line is Amazing!!
Original bass line by Derek Forbes :THE simple minds bass player with John Giblin (RIP)too
Fantastic. I like the instrumental. And my favorite Simple Minds song Somewhere in Summertime. Thank you for posting this excellent concert video.

Simple Minds: Once a band, now an institute. Marvelous!
It was an experimental song to give the band members some recognition and credits, well done Mr kerr for helping your friends out ,

Eine der besten 80iger Bands !! Selbst Heute noch !!!! Unsterblich !!
whatta marvellous drummer girl !
Best band in the effing Universe.
My all time favourite band
TFGC went right through me when I first heard it on the "youth" radio station in Sydney in 1981! Still goes right through me now at 55! LOVE

Love them since I was 17 ,but I am not sure if the blond keyboard artist is actually playing, freaky deaky.
Chasue version avec Derek Forbes a la basse , je peux lecouter plusieurs fois a la suite
Good New Sound......... Still prefer the original with the "old members" think I'AM getting old 😂
It's great to hear them, and not have it be 40 years old. 👍 🎵

Love sm but to me the girl on the keyboard doesn't seem to be playing 😮
Outstanding. I miss Derek Forbes but this guy is killing it!
