I noted on the audio a comment about something being out of balance and then a little later saw that you had strapped your dry barrel in an upright position. It may be more balance if you strapped the dry barrel laying down along the bottom centre of the canoe. Great video, thanks for sharing. Love the reaction to the comment "sometimes I just want to see you fall".
Odd. In our canoe it’s the stern paddler that gets wet feet. (That would be me. My wife gets to keep dry feet) how do I convince her that your way is better?
You never showed us Penn falls. I have always been amazed at how much of a difference there is in the volume of water there depending on the season. The dock at the Penn lake end can be 10 inches out of the water in the fall and I have seen it about a foot under water when we chase the ice out. Not able to get into Algonquin this spring but really looking forward to the fall when we are booked. Thanks for the memories here, wonderful. 21:07 - Absolutely mandatory move for some reason! 😁
Hey, you’re right... I can’t remember why I didn’t film any of Penn Falls this time. Last time we were there it was absolutely dry. It’s crazy to see the comparisons.. we are supposed to go again at the end of May but who knows what Doug will allow us to do.
Incredible. I just got back from this same loop from Rock to Louisa and back to Rock. That tree you almost got your hair caught on Galipo river well I was above that tree when I passed it. That means the water level was 4 feet plus higher than your trip. Insane how much the water level increased. Great video.
With a decent hammock (ridge line) I have no problem sleeping on my side and almost on my stomach... without a ridge line they are too much of a banana.
New to your channel Shannon. good trip you did here. I have had this one on my radar for a while now. Funny how sometimes the rain gods are never on your side... Hammock tip for you... sleep diagonally in the hammock and it will flatten your lay out... Dennis
Hey Dennis! Thanks for the tip. I’m hoping to try more hammock camping next season. We ended up really liking it! It’s definitely a nice leisurely loop with some scenic views! Cheers!
Hey Shannon, just found you! I was thinking I know this gal from IG. (Previously as The Passionate Paddler) Cool, didn't know you were making videos! Great little trip. Subscribed! - David Lee
Well that was fun. Some really lovely campsites and gorgeous sunsets, despite the dramatic weather. But honestly Shannon, the best part about it was your smiling face and happy manner. Hard Right!
Great video, we were the first ones on that site after the park opened in June 2020 . We also spent 2 nights there. One of my favorite lakes in the park. we did the same route but the opposite way. Great videos keep up the good work Cheers!!
Looks like you had fun. I was planning on doing a trip thru Tim Lake in the spring but the park was closed. We even had some amazing weather for trout opening week. Chances of that happening next year are probably slim. Stupid covid.
@@shannysteele Been down the Tim many a time . Of course after the speckles . They are getting tougher to find . But if my gf can get a 3 lber in less than an hr so can you.
Hi Ryan! Thanks! I don’t have a gear list ready to go but something I can definitely include in the future. I use a Swift Prospector 16’ and she is a beauty!
Thank you for taking us along. I have a Eureka No Bug Zone as well. It handled a hard thunderstorm for an hour in Quetico and that was the extent of our rainfall for our trip. I have always wondered about its ability to handle a prolonged downpour and it looks like you guys may have experienced that. Any issues with with leaks in the roof?
Even with the stormy weather you guys had a great trip! Thanks for taking us along. Quick question- I have a bad back, do you think hammock tenting is comfortable? Thank you and I’m a new subscriber from Canada! 🇨🇦
See you got a new wood cutting saw. I have one like that and it is the best piece of equipment. Cuts through wood like a hot knife through butter. So much better than the collapsing bow saws. Thanks for sharing your trip.
Thanks! Nice trout.... And over the fire is so yummy..... Creek section was very scenic... Thanks again
Thanks for taking us along!
Great video!
nice trip, thanks
I have been caught in the rain on Rock lake in a canoe, but it was a very long time ago. Ok 1968.
Great video and beautiful place .
Thanks! It’s really beautiful
If you get the chance to visit! Have you been before?
@@shannysteele Very far for me I have never been there.
Beautiful video! Galipo river looks lovely. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you! It’s a really beautiful spot. I love paddling through the Galipo!
Awesome scenery. Pity about the rain. Thanks for sharing.
It was really beautiful out there. Thanks for watching!
Went to take Louisa last fall and spring.. we caught over 50 Lakers in tow days
No way! We only caught the one... granted we were rained out quite a bit. We’re heading back in the Spring. Wish me luck on catching my first Laker!!
@@shannysteele the fishing is amazing when u time it right .. when were u there ?.
We caught all our fish on a live target dace minnow ...

Thanks for the tip! We usually lay it down but was trying something new. May be the reason for the off balance! Cheers!
Nicely done video! Very nice trip! I really did laugh out loud when you called the right turn! Can't wait for more!
Lol thanks! I’ll be sure to let Adam know 😅
@@shannysteele Few couples can canoe together . But the canoe banter was realistic.

We have not made it to Louisa yet, but its been on our list for awhile, thanks for sharing your adventure! It has only inspired us more to get there.
Great video you 2! Couldn't pull myself away from it! That fish looked so so so good
Thanks guys! It definitely made a great breakfast!

That was really well done. I LOVED the paddle up the lazy river the most. Great work, thank you
Thanks for watching! I love River travel the most! So peaceful.

Nice video! Where did you get that rod holder??
It was an Amazon purchase. Adam says he typed in “canoe rod holder” and it was one of the first to pop up. Well worth it!
@@shannysteele Thanks! Just ordered one for a May trip

Can’t go wrong with all that beauty!
Easy to sip that southern comfort . Been into Louisa once . Nice lake and surprisingly remote .

Hi David! Thanks for checking out the video! Just trying out the video thing while doing some trips. It’s def fun!
Love all those rocks that border the lakes. You’re a brave soul for swimming this time of year.

Research how to set up a hammock ridge line. It will make them much more comfortable, for sleep.

It handled the downpours very well! No leaks at all. We were very happy with it and will continue to bring it on most of our trips!
7:06, the rocks look unnatural, as if stacked by humans.
I believe that’s remains of a logging bridge
