  • Lilmon 5 from Osee is a super affordable on camera monitor with some amazing specs and features.
    This 5.5" 1000 nits monitor doesn't just offer the usual framing, focus and exposure tools we're used to seeing in monitors at this price range. With Osee's 22 bit internal color engine the Lilmon 5 is a little color accurate beast. Osee even built in a port for color calibration using an X-rite probe and Osees proprietary calibration software

    I tested this monitor on several shoots before making this review. That said, this was a pre production model that was sent to me from Osee to test. No money changed hands.
    And my findings while using this monitor is what this video is based upon.

    Loved the video. Really appreciate the info. Quick question, would this Monitor work well with an older canon rebel camera?

    I just copped the Osee T5+ not too long ago. This looks like a good upgrade for that one.
    Super curious to see if some of these features leak into their next 7" monitor...

    • @ThomasFransson
      @ThomasFransson  7 месяцев назад +1

      Not unless you turn off the info display.
      Don't know why Sony keeps being so stubborn about the hdmi output formats and allowing us to utilize the full aspect ratio.

    With zebras on, there’s a black to white gradient bar that pops up at the bottom middle of the screen.
    Do you know if that can be removed? It’s the one things I can’t sort out and it blocks the camera info for me.
    Thanks in advance!

    • @ThomasFransson
      @ThomasFransson  7 месяцев назад +1

      Hmm, I usually just turn zebras on for a second to check exposure and then turn them off again. So I haven't noticed this myself. Sounds like some sort of indication to let you know you have zebras on like with false colors and that sort of stuff?
      Maybe there's something in the display/info settings that will allow you minimize it. Sorry - I'm only speculating here as I haven't looked into this myself. I bet OSEE can give you a better answer.

      This could have been either one of Cam mackeys luts film cream or film + or just a regular slog3 conversion lut with a touch of the Sedona lut from iwltbap which is a free creative LUT.

    I mostly shoot 4k 60fps video on my lumix g9. I film quicker action paintball. Does this monitor lag or hold well with afc or autofocus and zooming etc? Thanks.

    • @ThomasFransson
      @ThomasFransson  11 месяцев назад +1

      Sounds like some cool and fast paced stuff!
      I did a lag test in the follow up video comparing it to the Feelworld F6 Plus.
      The Lilmon 5 out performed the Feelworld in that test. But I would suggest you look at it yourself in order to get a better feel for the amount of lag. - I'll like the video with test below.
      As a side note, all monitors will have some lag due to the latency over the HDMI (even up to 15ms is considered acceptable) On top of that the cable being used along with any additional processing done by the monitor can add to hdmi latency.
      ruclips.net/video/nlrsQ0YqPzE/видео.html
      I found the Lilmon 5 to be snappy in general. It's a newer monitor and it shows when comparing it to those that's been on the market for a while.

      Appreciate the response. I assume all monitors will have some sort of small response delay. I order the lilmon 5 to test today. And hopefully get to test on some action this weekend. Seems to be a solid monitor for the price. Randomly stumbled on it, then see all the pretty solid videos and reviews. Mostly want the monitor to just see my shots bigger etc ad colors seem solid but do all my color grading in post so should work well I hope. @@ThomasFransson

    How is it against the lut5, 6, or 7 from feel world ?

    • @ThomasFransson
      @ThomasFransson  Месяц назад

      I haven't had the chance to try those so I could only compare them on paper.
      What I can say is that the Lilmon 5 have a more detailed/higher resolution graphics on their onscreen tools compared to other budget friendly monitors that I've tried. On some of those monitors the tools feels very pixilated in comparison. This makes the Osee more precise and easier to use.
      But I don't know if Feelworld have updated their interface since the Feelworld F6 Plus that I also have. I am interested in their 7" for location shoots.
      Sorry but that's the best info I can offer.

    Hello, I am running this monitor with a Lumix S5ii and from camera to monitor there appears to be latency / lag. It throws me off when following an object. Have you run into this issue?

    • @ThomasFransson
      @ThomasFransson  4 месяца назад

      There's always a degree of latency in the monitor and the hdmi protocol itself.
      If you are sending a 4K signal to the monitor try setting it to 1080 instead. I've not been able to do any controlled tests on this theory. But maybe less processing on the monitor side can reduce the monitor latency.
      No guarantees, just an idea i got a while ago

  • @Lytemotiv
    @Lytemotiv Год назад +1

    is there any lag on the monitor? got a feel world and I notice some kind of delay.. its annoying..

    • @ThomasFransson
      @ThomasFransson  Год назад

      I haven't done any side by sides tbh.
      But if you're experiencing more latency than what is considered normal over HDMI (there's always some) I would test a different cable, these can have a significant effect on transmission. And maybe look over the HDMI settings on your camera. It's possible and somewhat logical that any additional processing for downscaling a 4K signal to 1080 in the monitor might add to the latency as well. Or on some cameras feeding a 4K signal might even cut down on the latency a bit.
      I'll see if I can compare the latency between the two tomorrow.
      I'm working on a comparison video right now.

    This vs the dc 550?

    • @ThomasFransson
      @ThomasFransson  6 месяцев назад +1

      I would say it depends, the Lilmon 5 has a few more advanced features which can be great for a certain type of productions. While the manual controls and the slightly higher brightness along with the hood that also acts as a screen protector during tranaport makes the DC-550 a great choice for run and gun shooters looking for an affordable monitors for their cameras that'll get the job done.

      @@ThomasFransson i believe it does need a license but it would be worth it. It’s. Far better way to monitor exposure. Atomos have just announced their new range of 5” monitors and they will now offer EL zone & Arri false colour. Looks like they are trying to catch up with Smallhd.
