    just purchased a used 2017 LX for my son with 77,000 mi. Not the most aesthetically pleasing car but very functional and great on gas. The cargo space is impressive and although it's a 5 seater, the back seat comfortably fits 2 adults. I didn't have issues with the AC or acceleration on the freeway. Am very pleased with this car for now.

    Great review! I've always liked the Honda Fits. It's amazing the amount of interior room these have.

    Good long term review. Well done! I bought my 18 EX used, and had few cars to choose from due to the paucity of good used cars. Also, Honda ended Fit production in 2020. I probably paid as much for my used 18 as you did for your new 17 EXL. I do miss leather. Cloth seating is too soft, allowing too much give. Noise issues are of course notable. For 19 years I drive a 2002 Mazda Protege5. If you want to know what noise is, that's the champ!! After 19 years of that raucous rascal, the Fit seems almost quiet.

    I have a 2017 Ex L also, I bought it used, with 22,000 miles. I've been loving it, but I do have to agree with you about the CVT noise. Like you, I don't think it's a huge deal, but it is noisy. One thing I've missed, also not a big deal, but it's such a little thing that it makes you wonder why on earth they didn't include it, is a button to pop the hatch. During quarantine, I was doing grocery pick up at the store, where you park your car, and they load the groceries in the back and you drive off. On a bitter cold winter day, it would have been nice to be able to just pop the hatch instead of getting out to open it. But I was consoled by my heated leather seats, so there was that. When you have to be that nitpicky about a car, it says a lot about the car.

    just got a 2015 with 116k miles.( in 2024 ) had to replace the ORIGINAL battery, 9 years old. Honda was also the cheapest place to buy it, 154 for 3 yr full replacement and 100 months total prorated warranty. Autozone was $55 more and only 3 total years warranty. I passed 3 cars going 50 in a 55 zone, looked down and was doing 80, is not slow. I have the cvt and like it, no harsh shifting and If I want to "shift" put in sport mode and use the paddle shifters for 7 total gear ratios.

    Have a 2018 Fit. Only issue was a blinking fuel cluster display. Dealer wanted a fortune to replace the cluster but with a little googling I found out it was just a bad solder joint. I have a friend who does cars and he showed me that the cluster pops out in 10 minutes! Only two screws! Soldered the bad connection (about 1 minute) and another 10 minutes to pop it back in. Cost - $0. Has worked great ever since.

    Thanks for the long term review. I have the ‘18 EX in a manual and there’s definitely pros and cons. I really like the combination of having a manual and also the safety features such as lane keep assist. One of the rare and few manual cars to have that combination. They discontinued the manual after the 2019 EX model. The manual has slightly more horsepower and I just like it when the vtec kicks in. You can drive with a lead foot and still get over 30 mpg. But you’re right, the gearing ratios are not great for performance. 5th and 6th gear are almost the same, and to merge into traffic (from on/off ramp) you almost always have to drop to 3rd gear. The other drawbacks however include lack of heated side mirrors on the EX (heated seats don’t matter as much to me), and how noisy and loud the car is at highway speeds. The audio from the sound system even at high volumes is barely able to compete with the road noise. I’ve had some very minor build quality issues with the fit and finish of the trims and heating/cooling dial, but that was fixed under warranty. My question is what tires did you get as replacement? Did you get the 185/55-16 again? Those tires seem quite terrible, they seem to skid a lot on wet roads on tight turns when I’m not even driving that hard/fast. Have you considered getting 205/50-16? Many people have opted for those as replacement tires and have said that you can get better grip.

    • @CarsForNoobs
      @CarsForNoobs  3 года назад +2

      Thanks, good comments. I know people opted for the 205, but I did get the factory size Bridgestone, it's ok. I just preferred the factory size to ensure the speedometer/odometer is accurate. I would have preferred the Michelin premier in 185 but it was out of stock.

    72K here for 2017 LX, just had to replace brakes, tires, and just now the fuel injectors and clear out the valves. Luckily most of that repair was covered in the extended warranty as was the hatch latch mechanism going out. Other than that it's a real efficient machine that can haul 8-9ft lengths of lumber if needed. Even the 6ft family can fit easily. I still routinely get 40+ mpg on highway trips.

    Hi. I just watched your video. Great review. Im a little concerned when I heard that screechy sound several times when you were accelerating, regarding the CVT. I don’t think that’s supposed to happen. I would get that checked out. My 2020 Blue Honda Fit CVT has never made those noises at any speed.

    I’m gonna need to buy a car this year and don’t want to get stuck with a car payment so a Honda Fit seems like a reasonable choice. They have a CPO 2019 $21,518 / 4,676mi. Do you think that’s worth it or would you look for something with more miles and a lower price. Or just a civic LX at that point? No kids, just moving to a city where I need to commute a bit unlike NYC.

    • @CarsForNoobs
      @CarsForNoobs  2 года назад +1

      Its more than I paid for my brand new one, but considering carvana offered me 19k for my 5 year old fit with 50k miles, probably not bad in the current market. Civic I think will have good gas mileage, maybe a little more refined drive, but probably less practical interior space and maybe less features for the lx

    Been on my 2016 Fit EX and now 77k miles. Had free oil changes for life (Bought from Joyce Koons Honda for $19.5k OTD). But have since had to replace the starter and the battery. Tired of the car tbh, just too econobox. My mother ordered a Model Y. I want to see what Tesla offers in about 4 years from now.

    I have a 2016 LX Fit. I want to replace the rear hatch latch. I've soaked it in WD-40 and Fluid Film for 3 years, and the corrosion continued. Can you show us how to access the latch? Or refer me to clear guidelines? I've spent hours finding earlier models but not the 3rd generation model.
    Thanks!

      Don't bother replacing the rear hatch latch. It's a common problem that will happen again to the replacement part. Hopefully this video will relieve some frustration.

      And yes the road noise is horrendous. I do like the steering shifting, but the clutch is very difficult to feel out. I've owned 5 other manual vehicles prior, from toyotas, vws, subarus, I still consistently stall on this fit's clutch.
