      I just got a white 2017 Honda Fit EX and I hope I can get use to not having dials & hope the computerized technology doesn't break. There isn't a lot of storage for CD's. I read that the 15 & 16 ARE UNCOMFORTABLE but when I tried, could feel it off the bat. Maybe the head thing was tiny bit more forward which may be the cause..

    There's 2 car review channels that I always look for when needing someone's opinions on cars, SUVs and trucks. Alex on Autos and KBB reviews. They are both very professionally done, great videography and easy to digest and comprehend. I like watching certain "amateur" reviewers but watching their obviously amateurish videos gets boring and tiring....but they do have their place in the RUclips universe. Keep it up, Alex, Micah and company!

    I'm not a fan of sub-compacts with sub-compact 4-cylinder engines, but I recently test drove a new Fit with the CVT and I was pleasantly surprised. It feels sporty, the paddle shifters actually respond very well, it's comfortable, and just generally fun to drive. Not too shabby, Honda!!

    Why do all the reviewers complain about no radio dials when you have controls on the steering wheel which means you don't even have to take your hands off the wheel to work the radio.For years complaints were why don't they put control's on the steering and now that they are,you want the knobs back.

    • @Zackeizer96
      @Zackeizer96 8 лет назад +2

      A volume knob can adjust the volume quicker. I see that as the only advantage.

    • @hapiestar7164
      @hapiestar7164 7 лет назад +1

      I think it's more that they bothered to put audio controls on both, but put a far more inferior control on the dash instead of just using a standard dial. If you're going to do both, do it right, ya'know? The slide control is a bit ass on the Hondas imo.

    I really don't understand the complaint of the touchscreen volume control. When you can easily change it on the steering wheel where its easily accessible without letting go of it. Which is safer. Looks like every other car reviewer mentions this just so they can have more to write or make their videos longer.

    The new 2018 Honda Fit has a tuning knob on the radio and is supposed to be quieter with improved driving dynamics over the 2017 model. The Fit is one of the few Honda vehicles that actually looks good to me style wise. People complain that the Fit only has 130 horse power, but the base 1995 Toyota Camry had only 125 HP, and the 1990 Camry had just 115 HP. Horse power keeps going up, but people keep complaining that cars do not have enough. You can get a speeding ticket driving any car sold in the USA. They all will go 80 MPH or faster, even the tiny Mitsubishi models. The Fit is certainly an efficient, well designed vehicle all around.

    After 16 months with my EX 6MT I'm very pleased. My only real complaint is with the stock tires. The Firestone FR740s are disappointing. They are reasonably predictable, and grip levels are OK for an A rated tire, but tread life is pathetic. Average seems to be about 14 months for most reviewers. I got 16 months. (Yes, I kept them properly inflated and rotate them regularly.) But even with these uninspiring tires, it is still a nimble, well balanced fwd car. I just ordered a set of BF Goodrich G-Force Sport Comp 2s in 205/50R16 (same rolling circumference as the stock 185/55R16 and still fits the rim width).

The soul cost less, has a beautiful interior & better quality larger more comfortable seats. We love that the Soul sits higher & is easier to get in & out of. I love this car a lot for its features, price, and fuel efficiency. I knew that this car was expected to have road noise due to its class, but the engine noise was loud!. My kia soul does better in terms of engine noise in the cabin. Any thoughts anyone?

  • @ut1004bp
    @ut1004bp 8 лет назад +1

    You forgot to mention which model you are driving and personally commenting on (ie the comment of the volume control you made doesn't apply to all three models) nor does the sunroof come with the base (LX) model which would then give you more Head Room (that you pointed out as a vice you see intergrated sunroofs will reduce your standard head room area). The Fit's CVT transmission is one of those areas that one should also talk about, Normal hwy driving RPMs are greatly reduce from Manual option and from earlier designed CVT which is one of my favorite features. Oh, and all Model Fits have a seat height adjustment (at least for the driver), It will adjust quite low for a-tall-in-the-seat driver, above the LX model, larger tires and wheels improve the ride and tracking by seemingly 50%, at the expense of a couple miles per gallon. The Base model has 150w, 4 speaker stereo, vs the 160w, 6 speaker with the high models.

    • @oldtwins
      @oldtwins 8 лет назад

      You summed it nicely to why the CVT model is "better" than the manual in the current Fit - the RPMs are just too high at highway cruise speeds on the manual transmission. This becomes annoying on long highway drives. I suppose if you just drive majority city then this may be a non-issue but anyone doing highway driving for any period of time, seriously look into this factor before deciding to go with the manual. Problem seems to be that Honda configured 5th and 6th gears to be essentially the same ratio, so 6th barely has any benefit over 5th. A shame really. Maybe done on purpose, to steer people away from the manual.

    Is the motor loud? Like the Ford Fiesta's is ridiculously loud. Also, I'm 5' 3" with a German Shepherd and a Great Pyrenees. Think they'll fit?

    Slow as hell, but was great on gas, 7.8 gallons full tank every time I went to get gas and about $18 bucks on 87 octane. 43 mpg was the best i did on highways. Beats paying 40k for a Lexus hatch hybrid. But moved on to a 2017 wrx limited and don't miss this lil guy.

    Interior noise has been an issue all along. It would seem to be still be a cause for concern. Pushing $20K well equipped, it's hard to ignore this. Having to make the radio louder once up to speed gets annoying after a while.

    *****, what did you think of the CVT? The car sounded rather buzzy under hard acceleration in your video. ;-)

    When the new generation Honda Fit came out I really didn't like the exterior styling at all-- It has since however grown on me. I would purchase the vehicle. I'm glad it comes with a manual transmission. I will NEVER in my life buy a CVT transmission car. My Mom had a Nissan Versa-- Absolutely terrible. CVT's are simply depressing to those whom love driving. The new generation Civic looks amazing too and I'm glad it is also available in manual transmission. Now only if hybrids could be made with manual transmission without around the same miles per gallon I would actually think of buying one. Great review though, Kelley Blue Book.

    Just bought mine and I already want to trade it. Civic/Camry both get almost as good MPG, yet is have larger more powerful engines and are far more comfortable on hwy. The gearing on the manual is weird as well - 1-4 seem normal, then 5 and 6 are more like 4.1 and 4.2...it's at like 3.5k RPM at 75 mph - who only drives 60 on the hwy? When I test drove mine, i only got it to ~60mph and really wish I took it to freeway speeds because I would NOT have bought it. They seemed to have designed shifter and arm rests for someone who has 5' arms. They must've hired interns to design and code their 7' display - it doesn't work and is confusing and challenging to use. Loads of craftsmanship and usability issues, which I imagine are a result of engineering cost out exercises. They better hope this thing is reliable af because that's about the only thing going for it imo. I'm hoping to trade mine and not lose too much money. Buy a civic or a camry.

    Lets have an update.
    Serious Quality control issues.
    I find, that the driver seat heating coils in the heated seats primary heat my BACK in the driver side seat, with very little heat down low.
    While the passenger seat Primary heats my BUM. with very little heat on my back.
    I have found flipping the head rest greatly improves the comfort of the car, however I am unsure of the effect on safety.

    Hey everyone, I am considering this car as it's much more affordable than what I'm driving now. I'm changing careers so wanna play it safe and cut as many expenses as possible. Just a few key (to me) questions that I would appreciate anyone's feedback on:
    I'm 6 ft, 190 lbs... will I be comfortable in here?
    The reviewer mentioned the low middle armrest... is it that low that it is hard to rest your right elbow/forearm on?
    Is the hard material on the left armrest really that uncomfortable?
    I'm expecting resale to be quite strong on the Fit...
    Is the car assembled well (squeeks, rattles, etc)?
    How is the brake pedal feel? Firm? Or spongy with lots of pedal travel?
    Noise?
    Comfort on long-ish drives?
    Thanks again everyone.

      I own a 2017 fit LX/CVT. I am about your size (well a little heavier). The low middle armrest...true, it is low, that could have been better thought out. Hard material on the left armrest is not uncomfortable... The car is a high quality build, no squeaks no rattles, although you will hear the engine. The brakes are good, plus the CVT almost seems to sense braking and helps with braking. I use mine 90% for urban driving. I think the Fit would be OK for a couple of hours of driving, but not sure I'd want to do a cross the USA road trip in it.....Best thing to do is go to a dealer and take a test drive.

    They need to make a type r version to compete with the fiesta st. Maybe throw the new 1.5 turbo engine from the civic in it. That would be a fun car I would buy for 20k.

    Needs a 1.8. I have a big family all over the world and have driven dozens and dozens of different cars a total of around 2 million miles. I would never consider anything under a 1.8 for a number of reasons, but the primary reasons? Overall usefulness, safety and reliability... Try to drive this car with 4 people from Miami to New York and you'll understand my reasoning. There is NO substitute for reasonable displacement.

    My '15 Fit quietly shutters me from point A to point B without any fanfare or hoopla. Its very low on the police radar, and with a name like Fit along with that computer mouse of a profile, it is low on the fellow driver's incitement meter as well. Plus, it can swallow up my full suspension 29'er - with both wheels attached. No more folding bike racks or Yakima roof racks.
