I love what your doing with your boy and I love he was actually fishing and killing it and not on his phone . I understand why you simply just gave the popo your license it was probably the rite thang to do with your son there . I unfortunately am tired of being harassed by police while fishing . Canyon lake or Comal County sheriffs have started trying to keep people away from the boat ramp by making up laws and lies. Your allowed to use the boat ramps to access the shore of the lake it’s that simple it’s for everyone to enjoy hike fish bird watch just a few rules no fire no swimming but the will force you to leave and then that’s the only law being broke anyway sorry for my rant . There not parks and wildlife they have no jurisdiction over fishing and you for sure don’t have to show you fishing license to them that’s not there job just the fact they harassed you when they new you where doing nothing against the law is very sus but you probably did the rite thing and I probably would of too but I would of let them know I don’t have to do this and if it is a problem please let me contact Texas parks and wildlife and get a game warden here and trust me they don’t play and are very by the book type law enforcement. Anyway thank your killing it man this is definitely settling a great example for your son love the video I’m going to subscribe and don’t listen to a grumpy old salty fisherman you did the rite thing .

I didn't think this was allowed neither. Most likely we will hear what the City has to say about fishing in the Riverwalk. If it turns out that we are not allowed to fish, it would be nice for the city to set aside an area where residents can go fishing.
@@mariaejasso5115. A few years ago I saw some people fishing by Blue Star. Not sure if the fish were safe to eat though.
You can fish the whole stretch of the San Antonio River I just think downtown river walk is not a very common fishing spot buy it’s allowed and yeah don’t eat any fish from the river though they have warning signs posted THANKS FOR WATCHING 🤙🏾🤙🏾
I always knew there was fish there. That was awesome. Everytime I go I joke with my wife about catching a bass out of there.

Nice!! My daughter is stationed in San Antonio and my wife goes to visit and that exactly where they were watching the day of the dead boats !! We are gonna drive there next month and I’m getting my day or two fishing license and now I know where I’m gonna take my grandkids !! Thank you for being understanding with the police !! Who cares if they ask just do it and look they walked away !! Your day was good and your son learns respect from you dad !!! That’s how kids now a days need to be they learn from dads like you !!! I was living there last year and I was always on the riverwalk but really never thought you could fish there. That's cool thoe.
If I’m not mistaken it is not the police officers authority to check fishing license protocols.. Game wardens only

Could have been a employee of a business on the river that called. I've had security guards try to run me off of public property while fishing the river. They, just like SAPD, don't like being proven wrong
The river walk is a tourist attraction, bet most don't know a few people fish their or know that you can fish their.

I didn't realize there were fish in the Riverwalk. I don't think I would eat anything I catch out of it.
I remember doing a internship for SAWs and we had to go by the river walk to inspect where the water would come in from.
My mentor said the the fish in the water aren't really great.
Poor babys have to stay near some water currents just to get some oxygen since the water doesnt carry any plants.

Hey, local from S.A myself, just started fishing, what spots around S.A do you recommend? Also for riverwalk are you using small tackle, or are you using something around 3/0 hooks?
I like to fish pretty much anywhere on the San river it’s a very long Stretch of river with a lot of bank fishing access and at the riverwalk I just u my normal tackle like the 3/0hooks ned rigs hooks Shakey heads hook good luck out there

Great interaction for dad and son, an ok interaction with LE, maybe overkill, but all we’re respectful.. I don’t doubt that some officious intermeddler would complain about this. Good to see it though and hopefully others fishing will be as responsible as this dad and son combination so this resource isn’t taken away. Experiences like this will be remembered for a lifetime.

I'm curious why LEOs show up even though the first thing they admit is that it isn't against the law. If you know going into it that whatever was reported isn't against the law, why go down there at all? And why did they ask for his license? They aren't Fish and Game.

I go to Woodlawn lake,espada park, the San Antonio river is a nice long stretch and hold good bass a lot of access to it also 🤙🏾🤙🏾

When I fish people and boats are the last thing I wanna see I was flipping bluefish into the boat one time and the hook came out of the fish when up and came down in my hand that's how fast it can happen with all them women and children around there if you ever hooked somebody you're going to be in more trouble then you could ever imagine
When a fisherman says “smally”, he generally is referring to a Smallmouth Bass, there are none in FL. Smally doesn’t indicate size, it’s a type.
TPWD does stock SMB in the upper Medina, used to stock them in the Guadalupe River too but the Guards were getting bred out of that river. No SMB have been stocked in the SA river but Guadalupe bass were/are.

If you’re smack dab downtown, cops can tell if you’re fishing on the River Walk. It’s not allowed on the main Downtown section but below Nueva I believe.

You can’t fish that river at the river walk it’s a (it’s Storico river now if you go outside the cell limits then you can because then that area water outside cinnamon mites is legal in the city limits since the historical river can’t Fish it. I find it interesting that police will respond to something they immediately admit is not a crime. Why are they showing up then? Here in Austin, just an hour north of San Antone, we have a theft that added up to 6 felonies and the police didn't show up. I should have told the dispatcher someone was fishing and I would have had 3 police cars.
