    At my very first quilting retreat earlier this year I used your book Stash Statement to make a quilt. Now that I am making literally hundreds of facemasks, I am saving my little scraps and thought I might make a type of improv memory quilt when this is all over with. Thank you so much for your book and the great ideas.

    Very easy to hear you and understand what you’re saying; not sure why others have an issue with it? It sounds like you’re at an expo or something. I can’t wait to try this!!!

    I have used all my bits and piece and made it into a backing on some of my quilts, save a few bob in doing that. And I don't have to throw out much, since the small est pieces goes into stuffed toys and cat beds.

    I love this.. I usually just make shirts and stuff for myself but I would love to do some quilting over the winter and scraps is the one thing I have a ton of and all the quilting tutorials seem over whelming. My biggest problem with sewing in general is that I have no patience.. This is perfect I cant wait to try it out.. like literally gonna go in my studio now and see what I can do.. thanks for the inspo

    Hi ! Thanks for the great video! I am new to quilting, so my fabric scraps are not quilting fabric. They are jeans, t-shirts, curtains, flannel, etc. What do you suggest in terms of mixing and matching fabrics of different weights? Should one block be all the same type of fabric?

    • @incanada83
      @incanada83 4 года назад +1

      B Nel, you could go to second hand store and randomly pick up pieces of clothing/bed sheets/bed spreads/curtains etc, in colors/patterns you like but should look for pieces that are similar in weight/thickness as I found out sweat shirts and thin blouses for example, don't mix very well. Cut them up and...."make something" LOL
      I'm new at it too and find this video very inspiring and will make covers for my dog's bed :-)
      Hee-haw LOL
      Happy sewing :-)

      Damaged or stained clothes. I buy sheets from Goodwill for the backing.

    • @artsymarsy8480
      @artsymarsy8480 5 лет назад +3

      I second the thrift store option for the sheets, but I've also gained a lot of fabric from clothes that are just too old to go to the thrift store. You could probably browse the free section in Craigslist and watch for sheets or lots of clothes coming through

    • @donnaf2666
      @donnaf2666 5 лет назад +1

      @@artsymarsy8480 I've used clothes a lot too, but the cutting time is huge, unless it's a long dress.

      She is at a craft or trade show. When you attend as a customer, you are not as aware of the noise as when you attend as an artisan, imagine 6-10 hours in that noise. Your voice goes quickly too as you try and speak over the din. ❤️
